CH9 Moondrop Wolf

Alodar took another look at the boy under him. "Collin, why are you outside my tent door?" He looked sternly at Collin, commanding an answer.

Collin look embarrassingly at Alodar. "Because I was asked by Zane to find out who you are, and now I'm sure I know who."

"And who would that be," Alodar questioningly gazed at him.

"Andre Pendell," Collin hesitantly replied.

"Maybe. Well you should hope I am, otherwise I might not be from this country. Maybe I'm an enemy spy."

"Are you?" Collin flashed an expression of shock.

"No you idiot! If I was I wouldn't tell

you!" Alodar shouted at Collin making him cower in his own arms.

Alodar let go off Collin and backed off. "Just leave, I don't have time for this right now. I'm going back to sleep."

Alodar trotted to his bed and plopped into it. He waved at Collin dismissing him.

"Weave wme bwe. It wwould bwe good for youw tow weave. Bwye." Alodar's voice was smuthered.

Collin looked anxiously at Alodar but ceased further discussion. He slowly walked out, softly closing the door.

Once the sun broke the night everyone was already on their feet ready to leave. Alodar was the last one awake, but since he was the one who saved many of the scout members, no one complained.

Zane walked up to Alodar when it was time to depart.

"Prince Andre, it is time to leave," Zane face was bright, seemingly glowing with divinity.

'So Collin told him who I said I was,' Alodar thought.

'He's definitely the prince, both his rumored strength and size is the same. I finally get to see the prince, I'm so lucky!' Zane's thoughts strayed from his usual cold and indifferent personality.

They got onto the carriage that was used since the city. The packing was quick and since it was, they left before the sun was fully out.

The trail was a hard and rough. Alodar bounced around, making his butt sore. "Do we have to ride in the carriage? I would prefer to walk." Alodar glances at Zane, who's face changed to a more depressed one.

'The prince does not see our carriage as up to standard. Hence he would rather walk, what a tragedy this is!' Zanes thoughts once again wondered.

"Yes my prince, I'm very sorry we were unable to meet your standards," Zane's face became even more depressed as he went on.

'How did you not meet my standards? My butt just hurts.' Alodar quickly kept off the carriage and proceeded to walk nearby.

The ground was firm and Alodar's butt was once again safe from the evilness of carriages.

The carriage only made it another hundred meters before a silver wolf, with fur as silky as the moon jumped in front of the carriage.

It growled and drooled menacingly at the scouts.

"What's that wolf doing?!"

"Oh no! It's a Moondrop Wolf!"

"A moondrop wolf?! Aren't those a legendary race?!"

Alodar looked at Zane. "What's a moondrop wolf?"

"A moondrop wolf is a special species related to the Lycanthropes. They can only be injured by a special metal called 'drop bronze'. They usual only come out at night, when the moon is out. This is a most unusual case." Zane rubbed his chin, lost in thought.

Alodar once again looked at the wolf. This time he spotted a red patch in the wolf's right foreleg. It was blood!

Alodar rushed to the front of the defense line and slowly walked over to the Wolf. It seemed to be intimidated. It growled at him, but other than that it did nothing.

"Everyone, hold your weapons! This is not a harmful beast, it is a desperate beast! This beast is hoping to be helped!" Alodar turned, pointing at the moondrop wolf yelled at the crowd.

"I don't get it! But to be honest, I wanna live so I have to believe you," one shouted.

"I guess your right. I'll also believe in you," another said.

Alodar looked at the crowd which had a lot of faith in him. He turned back to the wolf.

"I'll do what I can, no promises," Alodar was almost tearing up at their trust.

'I have to do this, they have this much confidence in me, so I must have the same in myself. Okay I got this!'

Alodar reached slowly for the wolf foreleg. The wolf recoiled back avoiding him, but eventually let him hold her.

She winced as Alodar put a little pressure on the wound. Blood poured out, soaking her fur.

"Shush, it's okay; I got this," Alodar's soothing voice calmed the wolf.

Alodar used a little healing spell he learned a while back in the water category. It was still weak, but better than nothing.

" Aqua Healing," Alodar muttered under his breath.

The wolf's face relaxed slowly, showing relief within seconds.

A minute or so passed and Alodar and the wolf both got up. The wolf nudged Alodar and so he bent down.

The wolf leaned in a pressed her forehead against him, she closed her eyes and a purple glow surrounded him and the wolf.

Alodar watched as the moondrop wolf ran and turned into moon like mist.

Before she did though, Alodar asked for her name in her native language.

"What is your name, so if I meet you again we can talk?"

The wolf looked back and she paused. "My name is Vilfang. I do hope we meet again, young 'hero'."

"Hero?" Before Alodar could finish, she was gone, like the wind.

The rest of the trip was uneventful, with only a few beady dumb enough to stop them. Eventually they stopped too.

But soon enough, Zane walked to Alodar and said some interesting news.

"Prince, we've made it to the hideout of the Hands of the Fang bandit group. We believe they kidnapped the princess."

'Ahh! Yes! Now I can vent my frustration on some bandits, what a nice day this is!"
