The Bully

Within about two hours, Trystan was settled in a room about six times nicer than the one he had at his adoptive parents house. It was large, spacious, and he couldn't believe that it was actually a student dorm room. His half was mostly barren except for the desk which had a very high end computer, and a few games next to it. It also had a gaming console which also had games next to it. He had mentioned as he was getting shown around by Dom and August that he liked gaming, so he figured this was their way of welcoming him.
He looked over at his roommate's side of the room. It was a rather odd combination, he was clearly addicted to manga, as they lined his bookshelves. But he also had posters on his walls of different athletes. Trystan however was fascinated by the poster of someone dancing, and he just stared.
'OI! What ya lookin at?'
The dorm supervisor warned him that his roommate was a bit on the hostile side, but Trys hadn't been expecting that. 'This poster, its that Tracy guy, isn't it?'
The roommate, a fire elemental named Felix nodded. 'I'm not really a fan of dancing, but he inspires me. He really changed his circumstances.'
'I just got here, so I don't know much about him or his brother. What's their stories.'
'Well, August keeps his story to himself, but Tracy's adoptive parents raised him as a girl, made him do things considered girly, etc. His father died though, and the story says he died of grief once he found out his wife had been tricking him for so many years into thinking Tracy was a girl. He came out as a boy after his father's death, and yet continued dancing and crossdressing. Society felt bad for how he was raised, and now they think he's just brainwashed into doing what he does, but I know he loves it.' He shrugged his shoulders and said, 'That's just the story we were told though. We all have our secrets, and I think there is more to that story.'
Trystan sat on his bed and said, 'Don't worry, I won't ask yours. Except for one question, if you're in a situation where you end up staying here, why are you my biggest bully at school?'
'Because I'm a delinquent, haven't you heard?'
'Heard, witnessed, and fell victim to. But that's not your real answer is it? You aren't really a delinquent!'
Felix grabbed Trys by the neck and growled, 'Don't pry into other people's business!'
Trystan, used to the neck grab, placed his two hands between the other youth's hands and his neck. 'You like me but don't want to admit it, don't you?'
'Of course not!!!!!'
'Then put me down, and tell me what's really going on, Felix. You're two years older than me, so you'll be graduating at the end of this year, it won't matter after that. Where as, I have two more years to get through.'
Felix growled but then tossed Trystan on the bed. 'Fine. You know how our school doesn't have many Elementals at our school?'
'Yeah.'
'I found out it's because the principal is prejudiced against us, as is the admissions department. They automatically assume, because of our nonbinary bodies, that we are gay. You got in because you have human adoptive parents. Me -- well, I got a perfect score on the entrance exam, so of course they couldn't let that go to waste. But my first day, I got called in, and the principal essentially ordered me to be a bully. Every few months, I get a list of people rumored to be "deviant" and if I don't meet the quota, it's bye bye school.'
'So…' Trys sat there fiddling with his hands in his laps. 'You don't have any friends?'
'No.'
'And you're doing this all so you can get a good education?'
'Yes.'
Trys punched the wall. 'That's terrible! Why are people like this! That's the best high school in Nephtalia, and you basically can't continue your education if you don't get in, so I see why it's so important for you -- but those asshat adults… our peers…' Trystan kept punching the walls.
Felix put his hands in front of Trystans fists to stop him from punching the walls. 'You're going to break your hands. It's not worth it.'
'Says the guy who broke my nose three times.' Trys was saying this with a smile though, meaning he held no malice toward him.
'That's all the more reason to not beat yourself up.'
Trystan's eyes lit up. 'Wait… I have an idea. What if you taught me how to fight back? I'll undoubtedly be bad at it, but then when we show up at school, I can say the injuries are from you, you can get your quota without feeling too guilty, and I'll learn to fight against bullies better. It's a win win.'
'But you still end up with a beat up body in the beginning.' Felix got out first aid supplies and started treating Trys' hands and neck. 'I don't want to be the reason your pretty body is mutilated anymore.'
'Aww you think my body is pretty,' Trystan teased.
'Of course. Isn't that pretty much an Elemental trait?'
'True.' Trys then said, 'Just agree to it, okay?'
'Fine. But on one condition?'
'What?'
'If I say you're done training for the day, even if you don't feel like you're done, we stop. This is for both of us, so if you push me more than I am comfortable with, I'll feel guilty.'
'Fine, but if I'm left unmarked, we still place bandages or something to make me look like I got beat up.'
'And we'll do it before school so that it doesn't heal too quick,' Felix mumbled to himself.
'Do what before school,' Dom said as he entered the room. His eyes instantly darkened when he saw who Trystan's roommate was. 'OH HELL NO! I'm telling Mother to find you a different room!'
Trystan glared at Dom, and then said, 'I'm fine here. Also aren't you supposed to be heading home? You actually have parents that care about your whereabouts.'
Dom glared at Felix and said, 'You mess with my buddy, you'll pay.'
'What? You got feelings for him?' Felix taunted.
'What?! No! He's my best friend idiot. Of course, not like you know what a friend is.'
'DOM!' Trystan shouted. 'He's not as bad as you think!'
'Yeah, he broke your nose three times, your leg twice, and your arm four! And he's not all that bad?'
'HE HAD TO DAMMIT! Now get the fuck out before I --'
'Before you what?'
Felix folded his arms. 'Look. Dominic, no one knows you come here, they don't know your orientation. You haven't appeared on the radar. But I'm the school bully. If you don't shut your trap, I'll gladly beat your ass.'
'That supposed to make me feel better about letting you sleep with my best friend?'
'Dom, given the circumstances, you better watch how you word things,' Trystan muttered. 'And for what it's worth, he's going to teach me to fight better, and it will get people off his back about bullying me.'
'I don't like it!'
'Dominic. I get you want to protect me. But this isn't about me anymore… I'm protecting Felix too. That's all I'm going to say. If you don't let me, then we can't be friends anymore.'
Dom grumbled and walked out the door not saying a word.
'Hayes, is that okay?' Felix asked.
'I'm doing something for you. And if you get your quota by knocking me around, then those others on your list are free too, right?'
'Well, yeah.'
'So I'm helping more people. That's all I can do.' He patted Felix on the cheek and then crawled into bed. 'I'm tired, and I have an appointment to get beat up before school tomorrow, so I'm going to go to bed.'
Felix laughed dryly, and watched over Trystan until he fell asleep then snuck out of the room

How kind is Trystan to forgive his bully? Not to mention one from Fire. As the saying goes, Fire and water don't mix.
