Chapter 20 – Weight Displacement

Carl sucked the white speck of light and felt a calming sensation. There were a lot of food delicacies in Earth, but nothing beats absorbing mana. He immediately felt energized, as if he had just woken up from a good 5 minute nap.

He licked his lips and smiled, "This is it. This is the feeling."

The first thing he did was inspect body. There were no visible changes but that was only on the outside. His body had become a little lighter, gaining some stamina. But more importantly, his Centers of power had been slightly tempered.

It was a refreshing feeling to get some of his stamina back in an instant but it did not even last a second.

With a calm face, he stared at his body with curious eyes and was expecting more, and he immediately showed disappointment in his face.

"That's it?"

The strange organ was the material form of the direwolf's mana pool, called mana stones. It contains the remaining mana of the creature once it dies. Whether they were beasts or humans, as long as they have the ability to store mana had mana stones.

Since ancient times, humans had been hunting monsters in search for mana stones, all in order to make themselves stronger.

According to many stories, large and ancient powerful beasts used to rule the Earth, approaching their lives as nature dictates.

These creatures were ultimately adored with the energy of nature or mana. They can control the energy of nature at will, and moved nature at will.

Humans on the other hand were but unnecessary existences in their eyes, too little and weak for them to care.

Humans, back then were but one of the inferior creatures that just popped out of the surface for unknown reasons, and it did not take them long to see how unfair the world was.

The ancient beasts were intelligent creatures, but they were also very selfish and uncaring characters to them who were much weaker existences.

While they never directly hurt them, their actions were always a big threat to humanity every single day.

Over time, humans began to move in larger groups until they emerged as a powerful force into the surface, moving on the top of the food chain among the other inferior creatures. They began to tame animals, and used them to hunt and produce food easier.

And while they may not be a threat to the ancient beasts, in their attempt to survive decade after decade, they continued to amass knowledge and anger towards the ancient beasts that would sometimes just pass by and ruin their crops and houses for no reason.

Soon, the humans figured out a way to kill the ancient beasts, moving in large groups, and utilizing tools, first targeting the weakest and little ones. With their knowledge and anger, they had already studied the hierarchy of the ancient beasts.

For centuries, the humans only grew stronger.

They were desperate and their envy and anger also only continued to grow.

The ancient beasts don't even care about their existence, and how much they could hurt them by just a simple movement. They couldn't let these selfish bully creatures roam the surface any longer.

They have no idea how much they take from their resources and how much of the humans perish when control nature at will without any thought of the consequences to those beneath them.

Of course, the ancient beasts were only moving as nature demands, but the humans had bottled up too much anger and jealously.

Unlike the other inferior creatures, humans had a mind, emotions, and self-awareness.

Unlike wolves and other animals, they don't hunt food simply because their instincts tell them nor kill because that's how to hunt.

Humans do it to survive, to get stronger for themselves and to help their fellow human.

Over time, humans slayed and slayed the weaker ancient beasts if given the right opportunity and they soon discovered the brilliant ball of crystal that was inside the ancient beasts' bodies.

It didn't take a while until they discovered what it can do!

A long time passed, and it became a tradition for humans to hunt for the stones inside the ancient beasts' bodies.

Then humanity became similarly capable of using mana, and while they may be comparatively weaker, who could die by a mere blow of the ancient beasts', they knew they can get stronger by killing the ancient beasts and stealing their mana!

Carl was utterly disappointed with the mana his body received from the direwolf.

'These direwolves are melee-type monsters which cannot use magic attacks. So they usually only got a inferior version of the mana pool. I can only keep hunting them or take a shot at a stronger target that can use mana.'

Carl was about to go to other targets, but the sound of the battle had attracted more and more wolves.

Seeing this, Carl only stood on his position and this time he gripped the crescent moon daggers on each hand and activated the bloody boar even though he could only use it for less than ten seconds.

'At the moment of my attack, I could just activate it.'

Carl gotten even more serious than before.

As two wolves pounced at him, Carl took a couple of steps and passed through them, slicing one of the wolves in half. He did not wait for the other wolf to attack, and pounced at it himself, slicing its head from its body.

'My strength is one thing, but these blades are really sharp. I feel sorry for you guys.'

Carl said as more wolves started to come.

With almost 20 pair of eyes looking at him, Carl was fearless. Since they were still charging towards him, Carl carved the mana stones from the dead wolves and immediately cracked them open, giving him better physical attributes.

With his earth physique too, Carl felt tremendous increase in each mana stone he took.

'Is it because this body is still too weak?'

Carl thought and his eyes turned sharp, before he swung his big body around and slashed in the air, slicing the blades to the wolves in consecutive successions. Carl was fierce. It looked like he was suddenly a different person. The tremendous jump in his physical abilities were starting to show off, and as he fought, he started to feel like the wolves were attacking in similar patterns. He could just dodge them, used the momentum, and strike their flesh open.

Carl snatched mana stones even from living direwolf. Once he slashed a certain part of their head, Carl could use his gripping power to get their mana stones.

Carl consumed and consumed mana stones during the fight. He did not care if the mana stones were bloody. He swung and slashed the daggers, making blood rain in the forest.

It gotten to the point Carl was holding ten mana stones in his hand, and three in his mouth while he charged forth in battle to kill. Carl at this time was like a slayer.  His handling of the daggers were like poetry in motion.

This could not have been possible before, but Carl although weak before was like a world-class athlete and he was even better at the moment.

He could now move light and shift his weight to match his attack, revealing his talent and experience in the sword, which would not have been possible without his past life.

Carl also grew to like a certain advantage with the bloody boar cultivation technique.

He currently weighed over 300 pounds, but it was no longer a disadvantage. He could freely transfer weight to different parts of his body, and add them to his attacks, making them even more lethal.

One hit from the wolves, and their bones almost shatters.
