1 Gary Oak

"Sometimes I wonder why I was CURSED with this TALENT."

Gary 'The GOAT' Oak, Pokémon

What would you feel like if you suddenly woke in your favourite, or at least one of the favourite anime worlds, as one of the original characters. It would be amazing, right. I felt the same when ten years ago. To say I was excited would be an understatement. But all that excitement has cooled by now, as I am ready to start my journey.

If you are wondering what journey? Well, you see, ten years ago, I woke in one of my favourite anime worlds, Pokémon, as none other than the greatest G.O.A.T.s of all times, Gary Freaking Oak, himself.

You see, in my last life, I was named Gary as well. So I got teased a lot during my childhood when my friends and I used to watch Pokémon together, especially when Gary would be shown with his fangirls flocking him. It was embarrassing to say the least, but I still loved him.

So being him right now was the right way to go. And I am going to make full use of my background and the money that comes with it. Like literally.

-

It was early morning of the important day, on which I was about to start my journey.

I walked towards the resting area of the pokémon laboratory. It was home to many of the pokémon that my Grandpa cared for, as well as pokémon of Pallet Town Pokémon Trainers sponsored by my Grandpa.

My goal being to get my starter pokémon. And no, it wasn't Squirtle. After all, I could still find them at that island, if I wanted to. The same goes for Bulbasaur. What I wanted was a freaking Charizard. I mean, the future freaking Charizard. Yes, you guessed that right, I wanted a Charmander.

Wondering why? Wonder why not.

Because it's a future Charizard, that's why.

And I know for sure that each and every Pokémon lover would have Charizard in their top five favourite pokémon of all times. If not, then you are gay. Just kidding. But seriously, who doesn't love Charizard.

Even in the anime, it was the only starter pokémon to have fully evolved out of the three. Because the animators knew what they were doing.

After reaching the resting area, specially made for starter Charmander, I called out to a specific Charmander.

"Hey, Charmander! It's time to go!" I shouted at the group of Charmander and one particular Charmander came running towards and jumped into my arms. I caught the little one, as the little guy was only two months old, and patted his head.

He was the one I decided to go with. As for why this one specifically, because I felt like it was the one. Anyway, I got a system, so I wasn't worried about potential this and potential that. What? You don't believe me? Well, let me show you the ever eternal ability of all systems – Inspect.

The reason I choose a Charmander was because of its final evolution and the fact that it can Mega Evolve. Although the other two starters can as well, but any man would choose Charizard over Gardevoir, much less Blastoise and Venusaur.

Oh, by the way, did I tell you about the power of my system. No, right? Then let me tell you that my system helps me level up my pokémon faster, like ten times faster. Additionally, I could get awesome rewards after completing different types of achievements.

Anyway, I carried the Charmander to my Grandpa's lab, where he would give me my pokéballs and pokédex.

After reaching his lab, I called out to him, "Hey, Grandpa! We are ready to set out." Charmander replied in affirmation, "Char. Charmander."

Grandpa turned towards me and said with a smile, "Oh, hey there, Gary. I hope you have prepared well for your journey."

"Yes, Daisy helped me with the packing." I quickly replied as I quickly wanted to leave for my journey.

"Then I would have to worry much. Here, take this." He said, and handed me a red notebook-like device, and six shrunken black balls with red and gold strips. "Your pokédex and pokéballs."

"Thanks, Grandpa." I quickly took my pokédex and the six Luxury Balls, since why would I use normal pokéballs if I had the money to buy better ones. And it wasn't like I was planning to catch a lot of pokémon like Ash in the first place.

Taking about Ash, he's a complete moron but a good and trustworthy friend to have.

"Okay, Grandpa. I am leaving, bye. I will call you once I reach Viridian City." I quickly left the lab, but not before hearing his parting words. "Take care, and don't forget to call Daisy first."

After reaching my room to grab my bag, I decided to capture Charmander. "Alright, Charmander, I am going to catch you first, okay." Charmander nodded with a smile, "Char, Char."

I took one of the Luxury Balls, enlarged it by taping the button on it, and gently pressed the pokéball on Charmander's head. He got sucked into the pokéball with a red light and the pokéball beeped once, indicating the successful capture.

I placed the pokéball along with the other on my utility belt, since I would be travelling with an e-bike. No way, I would be travelling in a convertible sports car through a freaking forest, okay.

But before that, I turned on the red notebook-like device, in other words, the Pokédex, which was a complete technological marvel. A notification popped on the screen, followed by a few more.

<Booting Pokédex software.>

<Successful. >

<Activating Pokémon Trainer ID named: Gary Oak.>

<Successful. >

Once the notifications stopped, I found the display lighting up, showcasing my profile, along with gym badges obtained.

"So it can be used as an ID card as well." I muttered in realization, since for some reason Daisy always refused to tell me the answer, just so that she could annoy me. I knew it from watching the anime, but I wasn't completely sure what everyone used as a legitimate identity card.

Likewise, I watched as the Pokédex displayed my profile, which was mostly empty except my basic details along with Charmander in the Pokémon tab.

Furthermore, I turned off my phone and placed it in my pocket and put on the black version of my two analogue watches. Then I placed the white one along with my laptop and solar charged power bank into my backpack.

After strapping my backpack, which was ultra light and thin due to advanced technology and got a shitload of space, I got on my metallic grey off-road e-bike and set out towards Viridian City. I would be going through Route 1. I don't have any pokémon that I fancy, personally, but I could find a wild Pikachu or a wild Eevee.

My personal preference would be an Eevee, mainly for their eeveelutions. Pikachu were good as well, but they weren't my first choice when it comes to Electric types.

Other than an Eevee, I have planned to catch a Scyther and a Magikarp. Additionally, I have also planned to catch a Froakie and a Sprigatito. There was already a Sprigatito currently in Grandpa's lab. It was among the batch of pokémon that he brought from the recently discovered region of Paldea. He agreed to give it to me when I have gained my first gym badge.

For the others, I have kept in mind to catch pokémon like Feebas, Dratini and maybe a Ralts. Since Daisy, being a girl, loves beautiful pokémon. But the ones I would catch weren't for her. She only requested to take care of my pokémon for me, when they were at my Grandpa's lab. After all, I won't be able to carry more than six pokémon, at least, until the near future.

While I was riding through Route 1, I encountered many wild pokémon, but I didn't pay them any attention. Instead, I speed up my e-bike after turning on the sports mode. Due to advanced technology and money, my bicycle had a small but powerful electric engine that ran on solar charged batteries.

In sports mode, it had a top speed of 70 km/h with a range of 200 km per full charge. But in economy mode, the speed would reduce to 40 km/h, but the range would increase to 250 km per full charge.

Of course, I wore a helmet, since you never know. Also, it had inbuilt speakers and Bluetooth connection, so I could listen to music and accept calls while riding.

While I was riding, I took out my phone and mounted it on the phone mount on the bike handle and then activated the GPS function and launched the directions for a clearing near a water stream. Because it was time to catch my first pokémon.
