Impulsive Arguments

[SKIP THE CHAPTER IF YOU KNOW THE PLOT ITS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T READ THE ORIGINAL]

"Our Mu Family recently received some cultivation resources for the Fire element. Unfortunately, most of the family members here are Ice elemental users. Your fire-elemental talent is quite impressive, and your cultivation has exceeded my expectations. Therefore, I'd like to offer these resources to you. From now on, when you're not attending classes, you may cultivate with Mu Jiangming," Mu Zhuoyun announced, stroking his beard with a satisfied air.

He made this declaration publicly!

From Mu Zhuoyun's perspective, this was a significant gesture, a gift that gave Mo Fan considerable face.

The branch disciples within the manor constantly schemed to showcase their talents to him, yet he scarcely paid them any attention. For Mo Fan, an outsider with no ties to the Mu family, to receive such an opportunity was nothing short of extraordinary!

In a society like this, there would always be exceptions. As the Head of the Mu Family, he prided himself on being broad-minded and not just favoring his own kin.

"Brother…this…how could this be? Mu Bai's talent is even greater. He might have been nervous today and couldn't perform at his best. Besides, he is a member of our family…" Mu He was shocked, hastily interjecting.

Mu Bai, who felt as if his heart had been pierced by thousands of arrows, looked like a man being viciously flogged. His appearance was pitiful.

Damn it, that was the chance to become an inner disciple that Mu Bai had been yearning for!

Mu Bai had exhausted all his mental faculties trying to erase the title of mere branch disciple. Only by becoming a true core disciple of the Mu Family would he receive more generous cultivation resources and finally escape the shadow of being a half-young master under someone else's roof.

It wasn't just that he missed out—it was snatched away by the very person he despised the most!

He was so furious he could have risen from the grave!

"I've made my decision. Mu He, there's no need for further discussion," Mu Zhuoyun declared, waving his hand dismissively. He maintained a slight smile as he looked at Mo Fan.

What's wrong? Are you so overwhelmed with joy that you're speechless?

Mu Zhuoyun was pleased with himself for setting aside past grievances to recruit this student with no background. It made him feel like a magnanimous leader.

"Mo Fan, why are you just standing there? Hurry up and thank Master Mu for his generosity," Xue Musheng urged, his tone tinged with urgency.

Zhang Xiaohou, Lu Xiaobing, and Xu Qinglin were all looking at him with admiration.

Not long ago, Mo Fan was just another face in the crowd, insignificant and easily overlooked. In the blink of an eye, he had become a rising star!

Mo Fan stared at Mu Zhuoyun, whose face was still adorned with that slight smile. His own expression was one of disbelief.

Finally regaining his composure, Mo Fan pressed his lips together and, after a moment, spoke up, "Has water seeped into your brain?"

"What did you just say?" Mu Zhuoyun's face was a mix of doubt and surprise, as if he hadn't heard correctly.

"I asked, has water seeped into your brain?" Mo Fan repeated, his voice unwavering.

Everyone around them heard his words clearly, but their expressions were a mix of confusion and shock.

What???

Did he just imply that Mu Zhuoyun's brain was waterlogged?

Has Mo Fan lost his mind?

Mu Zhuoyun's expression darkened. His beard quivered with rage as he replied, "You'd better have a good explanation for this… or else…"

"An explanation? Of course, I have one," Mo Fan said with a nod, "Three years ago, you suppressed my family under the guise of justice. I, Mo Fan, am not someone who can be slapped and then bribed into loyalty. Three years ago, you spoke to my father and me as if we were nothing more than dogs. Your memory might be poor, but I remember every word. Let me be clear, you old tyrant; even if you sent Mu Ningxue with a dowry to bring me into your family, I still wouldn't accept! Do you really think the world revolves around your Mu Family? And you expect me to be grateful? The only explanation I can think of is that water must have flooded your brain!"

As he spoke, the anger he had kept bottled up burst forth. His words flowed out in a torrent, sharp and unrestrained.

The Principal, the school directors, Director Deng Kai, Mu He, Mu Bai, Zhao Kunsan, Xue Musheng, the students of Class Eight, and even Mu Ningxue were all struck silent with shock.

Mu Zhuoyun's face was now a mask of fury.

Creak~

In his anger, the ground beneath Mu Zhuoyun's feet began to freeze, solidifying into a firm layer of crystalline ice. The cold aura emanating from his wrath permeated the air!

Mu Zhuoyun was enraged, truly enraged!

It had been years since anyone had dared to speak to him like this. He was the undisputed tyrant of Bo City. The elites of his generation, the Principals of Magic schools, the high-ranking officials from the Magic Association, even Deng Kai from the Hunter's Union—all treated him with utmost respect. And now, this insignificant boy, Mo Fan, had the audacity to confront him?

The atmosphere became thick with tension.

A terrifying ice field!

In mere moments, the sandy training grounds were transformed into a solid, ice-crystal expanse, with Mu Zhuoyun at its center!

The icy aura was overwhelming. What had been a hot summer day suddenly turned into a frigid winter. The training grounds became an ice floor, like a gigantic mirror!

This astonishing scene sent the students into a panic, their cries of fear echoing through the air!

The transformation of the training ground into an ice field had happened in an instant. Mu Zhuoyun hadn't even cast a spell; he had simply relied on his aura to freeze the entire area. Just how powerful was his cultivation?

Compared to Mu Bai's earlier, modest Ice Spread, Mu Zhuoyun was a colossal force, an incomparable behemoth.

"Zhuoyun, control your temper. This is a school, and there are students here who lack defensive capabilities," School Director Deng Kai, who was also a member of the Hunter's Union, suddenly stood up, positioning himself between Mu Zhuoyun and Mo Fan.

As Deng Kai intervened, Mu Zhuoyun's oppressive aura diminished somewhat. However, the surrounding people were still gripped by fear, struggling to breathe.

Tangyue, too, had moved to stand her ground, determined not to let Mu Zhuoyun harm her student, even though she knew she was no match for the Ice-elemental Family Head.

"Mo Fan, you insolent fool! What are you even saying? Apologize to Mr. Mu Zhuoyun this instant!" Mu He barked, his voice trembling with anger.

"Apologize? Sure, I can do that. But only after Mu Zhuoyun apologizes to me and my family for what happened three years ago. Don't think you can intimidate me with your power and authority. This is a man who used his influence to bully a teenager. If we were the same age, I'd give him a good beating!" Mo Fan's fearless demeanor remained unwavering.

"How dare you!" Mu Zhuoyun's fury surged, his control slipping as he spat out his response.

"Mo Fan, you've gone too far!" someone else chimed in. "You have no idea who you're challenging! Even one of the Mu Family's core disciples could easily defeat you!"

"Indeed! You needn't face Mr. Mu Zhuoyun. I, Mu Bai, will duel you. If you lose, you'll kneel and beg for forgiveness!" Mu Bai stepped forward, seizing the opportunity to redeem himself and regain favor with his family.

However, before Mu Bai could proceed, an icy voice interrupted, cutting through the tension like a blade.

"That's unnecessary."

All eyes turned to the speaker—Mu Ningxue, her presence commanding the attention of everyone present.

"Ningxue?" Mu Zhuoyun's anger wavered, giving way to confusion as his daughter stepped forward.

"You claim my father bullies the younger generation, that he uses his authority to oppress others, yet you've risen through your own efforts. Very well, I'm the same age as you. I'll duel you." Mu Ningxue's voice was steady, but the icy resolve in her tone was undeniable.

"Ningxue, there's no need for you to get involved," Mu Bai interjected, eager to prove himself.

"My father has been humiliated. He might choose to overlook it, but I, as his daughter, will not. We'll settle this with an impartial Magic Duel," Mu Ningxue declared, her words carrying the weight of a formal challenge.

"Well said!" Director Deng Kai praised, clearly impressed. "A young talent with such determination is truly admirable! Letting this matter be resolved through a duel is indeed fitting."

Mo Fan, undeterred, met Mu Ningxue's gaze with a grin. "Interesting. Facing you is much better than dealing with someone like Mu Bai."

Director Deng Kai stepped in, addressing Mo Fan with a firm tone. "Mo Fan, while your actions today can be seen as youthful recklessness, you should know that Mr. Mu Zhuoyun's contributions to Bo City far outweigh any grievance you may have. You must apologize for your behavior."

"Apologize? I could bow until my head touches the ground and do it repeatedly. But only after Mu Zhuoyun and his family apologize for their actions three years ago. A respected person of Bo City should know better than to trample on those beneath them," Mo Fan retorted, his voice unwavering.

"This is a matter of honor," the Principal spoke up, his expression stern. "A duel between equals will settle this."

Mo Fan's expression sharpened. "Enough talking. Let's do this. I'll face Mu Ningxue. If I lose, I'll apologize until your precious Mu Zhuoyun is satisfied. But if she loses…" His words hung in the air, the implication clear.

"Do you accept, Zhuoyun?" Deng Kai asked, trying to mediate.

Mu Zhuoyun, his pride wounded, hesitated for a moment before his face hardened. "Fine. Let it be settled with a duel."

The stage was set. The entire school watched with bated breath, knowing that this duel would determine more than just a winner—it would restore or shatter the honor of one of Bo City's most powerful families.

'Wow I really wish I had popcorns right now'

The events that unfolded in front of Damon were nothing short of interesting, I mean it's not everyday you would see someone badmouthing a person with authority like Mu Zhuoyun in face.

'I don't know If I should call him brave or idiot' Damon watched the events unfold silently. Every mage below the age of 18 is under joint protection of various organisations so yeah even if someone like Mu Zhuoyun is the target of humiliation he couldn't do anything to the young mages from light.

So yeah in a sense Mo Fan was safe even after pulling this type of stunt but even if he wasn't Damon don't think Mo Fan would still hesitate.

'I bet he doesn't even know that he is under protection' Damon thought as he enjoyed the show as Mu Zhuoyun announced announced the upcoming duel between Mo Fan and Yu Ang, Mu Ningxue's adoptive brother.

Damon felt that the drama today was enjoyable, seriously he doesn't like impulsive protagonists much but yeah their way of handling things were damn sure interesting unlike some beta or naive protagonists.

'A pity he didn't pull up some 'Thirty years in Hedong' lines'

The heated argument came to an end and the examiners and teachers breathed a sigh of relief as things didn't escalated further, with the argument coming to an end it was finally time to take the test of the final student today that was none other than..

"Next Damon Crown"

***

Is the length too long? I am thinking of going back to 1-1.5k words per chapter

By the way some people said previous chapter was way too much about Mo Fan, I mean not everyone in audience here has read versatile mage so to have them understand more about Mo Fan and plot of what is going on I deliberately did this and the previous chapter can be considered more of translation. And for Damon not being first he has yet to take the examination as of yet so till the present time Mo Fan secured the first position.

Well I understand the frustration of chapters not being about protagonist and about other characters hence I do apologise for that but please do understand that some chapters needs to be about others too in my opinion. But yeah don't worry this types of chapters would be very less in my ff.
