7 Chapter 7 Basilisk

Gilderoy Lockhart is having a nice time in Hogwarts. No one knows his truth about his books. He copied it from others life and put his own imagination on his book and the people loved him. He became famous with a minimum effort and others hard work.

But the strange incident which is happening in Hogwarts is scaring him. He wants to quit the job but he cannot quit it so easily due to his work contract. He has to stay at least for one year. His name also became more popular after he became a Defence against Dark arts professor of Hogwarts. With a great difficulty he convinced himself to stay at least for one year. If something endanger his life he will flee from Hogwarts.

...Hogwarts....

Gilderoy is in his office when someone knocked on his door. He opened the door and he found a pink note with a box of sweets. He saw left and right at the corridor but saw no one. He picked the note and box of sweets. He closed the door because a mad Basilisk is attacking anyone.

" Let's see who send the note. My dear fans love me a lot," Gilderoy said to himself. He started to read the note.

Hello dear Gilderoy.

I am your greatest fan and I cannot face your charming face. I am too shy to talk to you. You have such a huge muscles and you got a style of your own. Please do eat my sweets as I made them with my own hands. It is not much but I hope you would love it. I love you now and forever my dear gildy.

After reading the letter Gilderoy is thinking which girl might have send this letter.

" Young girl loves me so much. If I eat it now no one will know my greatness. I will eat it in front of all the professor while showing them how much students love me. I will do it in front of Professor Snape and show him who is the boss," Gilderoy said to himself while looking at mirror.

Gilderoy practiced his smile in front of his mirror and went to sleep and he started to dream how he show his handsome face while showing them the sweets.

...Next morning...

.....Dining hall...

Harry met Fred and George during breakfast. Both looked at each other and waiting for their result.

"You both look quite happy. Have you finished the job?" Harry asked them in a low voice. Both looked at him and then teacher's dining table.

" We are waiting for the results," Fred said to Harry.

"It should be here any moment," George said to Harry.

" You both are quick to make a move," Harry said to them and started to watch towards the teacher's table.

"Why are you looking at the teacher's table," Oliver wood asked his teammates. He became little suspicious about their action.

"You will see Captain," Harry said to Oliver.

Gilderoy arrived in the teacher's table. He is carrying a sweet box and smiling all the time.

Fred and George got terrified by the thought of getting caught.

" He looks normal," Harry said to Fred and George.

" Maybe he wants to share the sweets with the other professor," Oliver said to his teammates.

" That would be more fun than we expected," Fred and George said together. Oliver sensed their prank mode but he can't say anything as he is quite used to it.

"I never thought he will publicly humiliate himself," Fred said to George. Now they can't stop him from doing a public stunt.

Gilderoy sat at his chair on the teacher's table. He saw professor Snape. He opened the box with a smile he practiced yesterday.

" Hello professor Snape, last night a student of mine who is quite fond of my teachings sent me some sweets," Gilderoy said to Snape. He picked up a sweet and wanted to eat it in front of Snape.

" Mr. gilderoy but this ....." Snape couldn't finish that sentence. He already sensed something is wrong with the sweet. But that fool Gilderoy ate it and the smoke started to rise from his hair.

" Mister Gilderoy your head is leaving steam. What happened to your mouth. Did you start to apply lipstick that wider," McGonagall said to Gilderoy. She is surprised by the sudden change in him.

Gilderoy felt his hair style changed a little and his lips were full of something. He took out a mirror from his pocket to see his face.

" My beautiful hair and lips. What happened to them," Gilderoy literally shouted at that time. His hair became greasy like Snape but more terrible. And his lips has a wider colour like a lipstick is applied on it. It is green in colour.

Some young students started to laugh at Gilderoy from students table.

"We never thought he will make himself a public joke," Fred and George said together to Harry and Oliver.

Gilderoy ran to madam pomfrey's hospital ward directly from the teacher's table.

" It looks like you did not get caught. Here take it," Harry said to Fred and George and gave them something from under the table. Oliver raised his eyebrow.

"I hope this incidents will stop, so we can play quidditch this year," Oliver said to them. He is not interested in their deal. So he didn't comment on the that.

"We play to win captain wood. Last match that little Malfoy has nimbus 2001 with his whole team. Even then we won," Fred said to Oliver. They are little sad about quidditch matches are cancelled this time.

They started to talk about quidditch. Harry and new Harry doesn't know anything about quidditch other than the rules and how to play. He kept quiet and listened to what they are talking.

Harry looked around and saw Ginny eating her food. He can feel a cursed object under her robes. She looked at him and he smiled at her. Which she replied with a smile.

'As far as I know Ginny will never return a smile at this period. She is too shy in front of Harry to do it. She finished eating and left the table.

" Excuse me, I should go for my classes, Captain," Harry said to Oliver. Oliver was making plans for his quidditch team for next match. If it happens this year.

"Yeah sure, I forgot time flies easily when we talk about quidditch. I can see you have a new wrist watch," Oliver said to Harry while looking at his watch.

"Fred and George I need your urgent help. Will you two come with me," Harry said to Fred and George.

" Okay," Fred and George said to him. And they said goodbye to Oliver.

Harry left with Fred and George. He started to walk with Fred and George. Both of them get surprised when they saw Ginny was walking towards an empty corridor.

"Don't ask a question now? Just follow me," Harry said to Fred and George. They didn't ask question. Harry took out his invisibility cloak and put it around three of them and they disappeared from the view.

" Is that an invisibility cloak?" Fred and George said together with a low tone.

" Yes, just please keep quiet. Ginny's life is in danger if we don't follow her now we may not know what will happen," Harry said to Fred and George.

Ginny walked towards the chamber of secrets whose passage start's from the girl's bathroom. And Harry, Fred and George followed her. But twins could not understand why they are following Ginny in a bathroom.

"Why are we following Ginny in a bathroom, Harry?" Fred asked with a stern voice. After all she is his sister.

"Shhhhhhh," Harry said to both of them.

Ginny started to speak in parseltongue.

"Open and come my basilisk," She spoke in parseltongue. The basin divided itself and an underground passage opened in front of her and a big snake came out of it. It is a basilisk.

Harry took control of the moment. He hold Fred and George to jump and do anything reckless. Twins soon understood that their sister is not in a danger.

"Go and hunt Aurors in after 10 minutes. They are interrupting my plan. They should be the only ones in the corridor within few minutes," Ginny said in a different voice. It is a male voice.

Harry took out a dagger from the thin air and undid his invisibility cloak which surprised Ginny and twins. He jumped higher and landed on the head of basilisk.

" It's time to hunt a Basilisk," Harry said. He quickly destroyed the right eye of basilisk with his dagger and then left eye of Basilisk without looking at them. Now the basilisk couldn't petrify anyone. His skin maybe tough but the same thing couldn't be said for his eyes.

"shhhhhshshhshhshhhhshshhssss," The Basilisk hissed and it shook his head and Harry fall down from his head. Harry made some distance between them.

"You dare hurt my basilisk, Harry Potter. Kill him," Ginny said in a male voice. The basilisk lunged towards the Harry. Harry jumped again to get out of his way.

"Fred and George, Snatch the black dairy in the hands of ginny. I will take care of Basilisk by the time," Harry said to Fred and George. They quickly understand whatever is happening to Ginny. It is the fault of the diary in her hands.

Ginny raised her wand but due to her love for her brothers, 'Fred and George' she is resisting the control of the cursed dairy. Suddenly she fall down and lose conscious. The diary slipped from her embrace and opened itself. A young boy figure appeared behind her.

" Protect the diary," The young boy said to basilisk.

Fred fired stunner but it went through the boy and he laughed at them.

Basilisk head-butted Harry and open his mouth to devour him but this is what Harry was waiting for. His dagger started to emit a chirping sound of thousand bird's and lightning surrounded it. He plunged the dagger into the upper section of basilisk inner mouth. It didn't stop there it hit the brain of Basilisk and fried it.

"Shhhhhshshhshhshhhhshshhssss," Basilisk loudly hissed and dropped dead after it.

"You killed my basilisk," The young boy said to Harry. Fred and George looked at Harry with amazement. But still looking to the boy with an open hostility. From them whatever is happening to their younger sister it is all because of this boy.

"You fucking kidding me. Because of you I was in Azkaban. I exactly know who are you' Tom marvolo riddle' or should I say lord 'Voldermort,' " Harry took out a tooth of basilisk and with a quick speed plunged it inside the cursed Diary. He stabbed it numerous time. Blood started to come out from the stabs.

Tom couldn't even speak a word and his soul in the dairy gets destroyed. Ginny came back to her consciousness. She looked up and saw Harry and her twin brothers.

"I am sorry. I didn't mean to do anything. I doesn't want to harm anyone," Ginny said to them. She is feeling guilty for harming the fellow students.

At the same time Dumbledore appeared and he looked at the dead Basilisk and the dairy which has a lot of blood. He looked at Harry, fred, George and ginny.

'Whatever is happened in the Hogwarts this year. It should be the fault of Basilisk and this cursed diary. I can feel the dark magic it hold once,' Dumbledore thought in his mind but he will ask his students to confirm his theory.

"Harry what happened here?" Dumbledore asked Harry. He wants to know what happened here. The house-elf of Hogwarts informed him about a fight between basilisk and Harry Potter. So he came to support him.

Harry started to explain how he got doubt on Ginny when she was behaving like another person. Her lack of sleep and she always hide a black dairy. He explained about his research and how he found a certain detail about a student name Tom marvolo riddle who framed Hagrid fifty years ago. That was the last time when chamber of secrets was opened.

" You should have asked for my help. By the way why you asked for the help of Fred and George," Dumbledore asked Harry. He is surprised when he saw Harry didn't get petrified by Basilisk's stare.

"I needed someone who can hold Ginny in her possessed state. Fred and George are quite reliable. Even if she is possessed she will try to save her brothers. Whatever this cursed item is, it cannot control Ginny totally," Harry said to Dumbledore.

"Ginerva Weasley could you please explain from where you got the dairy," Dumbledore asked ginny. He fears it should be the worst kind of curse item which came in Hogwarts.

Ginerva explained to Dumbledore how the dairy can write back to her. At first she was excited but later she used to have blackouts and at the same time people used to get petrified. She tried to get rid of her but she couldn't because of her constant blackout.

"Mr. Potter why you have a dagger. It is a dangerous think to keep it when you are in a school full of children," Dumbledore asked harry. He has never expected that Harry will bring a dagger at school.

"It is my wand," Harry said to Dumbledore and the dagger changed back to his wand. Fred and George looked at him with more respect.

"By the way I killed the Basilisk. So all the materials related to basilisk belong to me now. And I am going to be rich with it's dead body," Harry said while rubbing his both hands. He didn't wait for their response and started to take out the teeth of Basilisk. He started to gather them.

"How will you take a ton of basilisk from a girl's bathroom Mr.potter," Dumbledore asked harry. He didn't disagree with Harry.

Harry snapped with his fingers and a total of 11 house- elves appeared.

" Take it to Potter's Palace. Store it's venom and blood. Take this fangs and keep it safe in our house vaults. Also store his damaged eyes away. Tell Grinok to sell the remaining basilisk parts. I will give him 5% of the selling price. If he doesn't agree then you can come and tell me," Harry said to house-elves. They disappeared with the dead Basilisk.

"When did you get...."

"...that many house-elves?" Fred and George asked simultaneously.

"They are my grandfather's house-elves. He sure left me a lot of good things," Harry said to them with a smile. He then looked at Ginny. She is quiet and didn't ask anything from him.

"How did you know about your grandfather owning house-elves?" Dumbledore asked Harry. Even he didn't know about the house-elves of Potter house. He is surprised by how much Harry changed after he came back from Azkaban.

"I asked about my property detail from gringotts bank when I was admitted in St. mungo's hospital. While reading the records I found about my house-elves and called them once and they responded to my call. Technically I am their master now after my father," Harry said to Dumbledore. House-elves are not a big secret in his thought as they only work in his farms and take care of his house.

Dumbledore checked the Diary and called a house-elf of Hogwarts to take it back to his office and keep it safe till he enters in his office.

"Anyone of you want to go to Hospital wing if you are injured or bruised,"Dumbledore asked them.

"I am fine even if I faced Basilisk. It didn't even injured me and I didn't even look at it's eyes," Harry said to Dumbledore. The old man gave his nod when he saw no visible injury in Harry's body.

"We are fine and we are mostly keeping an eye on Ginny and then that boy from that dairy," Fred and George said to Dumbledore. Even if they saw basilisk from a distance. They didn't look at it's eyes. Well the basilisk didn't get a chance as it was injured in a quick speed by Harry.

"I am also fine even if I was possessed," Ginny said to Dumbledore. But the headmaster didn't buy her story. She looks sick and in her eyes he can see the lack of her sleep.

"You may look fine miss Ginerva Weasley but you are not. Fred and George please escort your sister to hospital wing, so she can get a full checkup from madam pomfrey. Now what to do with this open passage," Dumbledore asked them. He doesn't want any students to enter in the chamber by mistake.

"Close," Harry hissed in parseltongue and the passage closed itself. "I heard Ginny spoke in parseltongue when she was possessed. I just said close in that language and it got closed," Harry explained himself.

"After you escort Ginny to hospital wing please go to your classes," Dumbledore said to them. As he was going to walk away, he was interrupted by George.

"What about Quidditch matches? Can we play them again in this year," George asked Dumbledore. The old man smiled and walked out of the girl's bathroom.

Harry, Fred and George escorted Ginny to the Hospital wing. Pomfrey asked her to take rest in hospital wing for few days.

Harry searched for Draco in the hospital wing but he was not there in the hospital wing. But he found Gilderoy lockhart. Harry went to attend his class. Fred and George decided to stay with their sister. Before going back harry reminded them not tell others about his invisibility cloak.
