Villagers in Great perile

Carne Village was a Frontier Village of the Re-Estize Kingdom, a Human Kingdom in the center of the Continent, governed by royalty and nobles.

It lay close to the Great Forest of Tob, a Forest filled with magical creatures and small Demi-Human tribes.

The reason the village could still stand even while being in close proximity to a place where humans shouldn't be, was the Ruler of the art of the Forest on which it lay, the wise Ruler of the Forest.

A great magical creature said to possess unparalleled wisdom and might, but it didn't have any interest in attacking humans as long as they kept their distance from it.

Through the unconscious cover of this great magical creature, this village was spared from nearly all monster attacks. Other Villages were regularly raided by monsters like Goblins and Ogres, but this one was different.

It was also the reason why Carne Cillage as a frontier Village had no defensive facilities whatsoever. Not even a small lookout was present nor were there wooden walls surrounding the Village.

Such things should be a regular thing to build for frontier Villages, but as nothing the like was present, someday it would end in tragedy...

It was a regular morning for the people of Carne Village, people in the villages woke up when the sun started to rise and went to bed when the sun went down.

There was no electricity present here and the lighting was mostly done through oil lamps or candles, making work after the darkness of the night covered the world impossible.

Of course, in the cities, it was a bit different, as they used something different for the lighting, magical lamps.

A fairly beautiful young girl in her mid-teens, with dirty blonde hair tied in a long braid and brown eyes, dressed in simple farm clothes consisting of a long dress made of woolen clothes, was walking towards the spring in the center of the Village.

She held a thick wooden bucket in her arms, on her way to get Water for her Family like she always did.

She was humming while walking and she greeted the people who were already out and about, as they went to busy themselves.

Reaching the spring, the girl started the tedious and hard work of getting water out of the spring, this took her some time to finish and when it was done she had already spent 10 minutes on it.

Just as she picked up the now full bucket to take it back to her home, a scream reached her ears one she had never heard from anyone before.

"Ahhhhhhh!!!!"

But she immediately understood that something was about to interrupt her peaceful life, as a terrible feeling started to grip her heart tightly.

Turning her head abruptly in the direction from where the scream came, what she saw made her fair face lose all its color.

There in the fields in the distance, knights in full plate armor sitting atop horses, who seemed strong and well-fed, galloped towards the Village.

They had their swords drawn from their sheaths and attacked the people who were already on the field.

Their sword fell on the villagers, who had neither time nor the strength to defend themselves in any way.

As the Swords fell down, blood spilled and splattered, dying the wheat on the fields a bright shade of crimson.

Some villagers raised their arms to defend themselves, which were then cut off by the heavy swings of the trained knights, leaving the people with an endless stream of blood spilling from their stumps as they screamed in pure agony.

Some just tried to run and had the heavy swings cut into them from behind, splitting them from the shoulder downwards, as they fell, their innards would flow out of their dead bodies onto the ground.

Others had their heads cut off and sent flying by a single swing of the Sword, their eyes wide open watching as their headless bodies took two or three more steps before collapsing, as darkness cowered their vision and they as well died.

The young teenage girl who saw all this in the distance was utterly terrified, the hands holding the bucket simply let go.

Her mind was so filled with terror, that it took her second to realize that this wasn't the time to stand still.

Gathering all her wits together, she ran off towards her home, her peaceful and honest life had ended at that moment.

Now all she thought about was to get to her family as fast as possible and then get away from here, from this atrocity, from this gruesome Slaughter.

She scolded herself for her legs not taking her faster to her home as she ran with all her might.

'Have they surrounded us? Or are they just trying to run over us?' Such thoughts through her mind, 'Have they reached my home already? Are Mom and Dad fine? Is Nemu okay?'

It still took her a minute to reach her home, seeing that the knights hadn't reached here yet, she released a breath of relief, she didn't even know she was holding in.

Although countless Villagers were running like her, she hadn't cared for them at all, the only people currently on her mind were her family.

Opening the door from outside, she didn't have time to enter when a hand from inside grabbed her and dragged her into the room.

It shocked her and she was just trying to struggle when she realized who the person was, "Father!".

The man immediately covered her mouth with one of his big rough hands. He was a tall man with a slight belly, and black short hair, and wore simple woolen clothes.

"Schhhh..." He signaled her to remain silent and then pointed to one side of the room.

Gazing at the place, she saw her mother, with a similar appearance and clothes like herself, she was just a middle-aged version of herself.

In her arms she held a little girl, she was maybe 5 or 6 years old with bright red hair and dressed in a simple dress of woolen cloth, this girl was her little sister Nemu.

The woman, her mother was comforting the confused and frightened little girl.

She then looked again at her father and spoke in a whisper, "Father there is a group of Knights slaughtering the villagers..."

Her father's face hardened upon hearing her words, he had heard the commotion before but didn't know what was going on, but now hearing his daughter's words he understood.

He grabbed the teenage girl by the shoulder with his rough sturdy hand, the girl could feel that the words spoken by her Father next would be very heavy and important.

"Enri, no matter what happens later, you need to take Nemu and run into the woods. These soldiers will never enter there."

His serious gaze made Enri tremble, 'Why do I need to take Nemu? Why don't you take her and we run together?' she asked herself but couldn't bring herself to ask her father.

Her mother came over with her Sister in hand and spoke to her, "Please, no matter what, you two need to get away."

Enri was heartbroken, but she understood what her parents wanted her to do, even though her eyes grew moist, she nodded heavily.

As she took her little sister's hand, there sounded heavy and violent knocks on the door, followed by a commanding voice, "Open the door and offer no resistance, then I might spear you!"

There was a certain slyness and arrogance in the voice, all three people in this hut besides the little girl Nemu understood that this person was not to be trusted at all.

Enri took her sister Nemu up in her arms while stepping backward, her father went to the door and tried to hold it shut, while her mother went and took the only knife in the house in her hands.

The man didn't seem like waiting at all and shouted aloud, while someone ran against the door from outside, "If you don't want to open it yourself, then let us open it with force!"

A soldier outside continued to run against the door and it was clear that her father wouldn't be able to hold it down for much longer.

Her parents looked at each other and then both gave Enri a reassuring smile, just as the man would have hit the door again, her father suddenly opened the door and the man ran into the room.

The soldier stumbled to the ground because of the unexpected opening of the door, her mother immediately went onto him and tried her best to stab him with the knife in her hand.

The man shouting came in a rush inside after the door was opened, he looked at Enri and what she saw under the helmet was a gaze filled with lust looking at her like he found its prey as he licked his lips.

Her father on the side at this time got the jump on him and wrestled him to the ground as he shouted at her, "Run Enri! Run! Take your sister and run!!!"

It took Enri a moment before she, with a determined face charged out of the room with her sister in her arm and ran towards the forest.

While she ran away, her mother who tried to stab the soldier who had fallen on the ground, had her arm grabbed by said soldier. As he got a grip on her arm, he took his sword out of its sheath and rammed it into her body while shouting at her, "Damn Wench! Stupid peasant just die!"

The moment the sword went through her body, blood splattered onto the floor, and the woman's mouth was immediately filled with blood, which she spat in the face of the soldier.

Even as she was dying, she tried her best to hold the soldier down just a second longer...

But the soldier wouldn't give her this chance, he pressed his sword to the side with all his might, cutting oven the woman from the middle of her stomach to the side.

Her eyes dimmed and finally lost their color, she fell into the soldier who gazed at the woman in rage, as her blood and organ spilled onto him.

The other soldier, who seemed like an Officer and was wrestled down by the father, was still in a fierce wrestling match with the father.

He cried out, "Disgusting peasant! Get your hands off of me!?! Someone help me, get this piece of trash off of me!!"

Two more knights at this moment came inside the house and immediately grabbed the Father by both arms and dragged him off from the Officer.

The two soldiers then dragged the man outside, while the officer stood up and came run after them while screaming and ordering, "Hold him down! Down on the ground with him!"

The soldiers did as they were told and held the man face down to the ground, right outside his house.

He was still struggling in their hands, trying his best to wiggle himself free from their grip, but these were trained soldiers, how could a simple farmer content with them?

The officer stood behind the simple father, who just tried to save his family, an evil and vicious smile adorned his disgusting face.

The officer unsheathed his blade as he spoke, "You disgusting piece of trash dared to touch me! Now you get what you deserve!"

Stabbing down, the man stabbed into the guts of the father from behind, as he did so, his laughter rang out and he continued to stab down again and again.

Blood started to flow out below the father, spreading out on the ground, dying it a deep shade of red, while he had his head looking ahead and spoke with his last strength, "...M...my daughters... help... save..."

Then the man finally took his last breath as the officer stabbed him 8 times into his back, but this didn't let the officer stop, he continued to stab down another 4 or 5 times.

Breathing heavily, the man continued to order the two soldiers who just held down the man, "You two go after the girls! I want them dead! They dare to oppose me, how dare they!"

The two soldiers didn't argue and started to go after the two girls who they had seen run away moments before.

It didn't take long for one of them to get their trail, the two had split up, to find them faster as both knew that each could easily kill two little girls, one only being a child.

Running, he soon saw them, running toward the forest and he followed swiftly.

Enri tried her best to take her sister away, running with all her might, but her legs weren't playing along, her little sister was even worse.

But he didn't complain at all, her little sister, who had always complained and was a big nuisance most of the time followed her without asking anything or even crying.

Why was this the case? It was because she trusted Enri, her big sister. 'No matter what Nemu needs to get to safety!'

A voice sounded from behind them, "Stop it, it's useless!"

Turning her head, she saw another soldier running after them, he was much faster than the two of them and soon came behind the two.

At this moment, Nemu stumbled and fell, "Ah, big sister!" she cried out and Enri turned around, trying to help her up.

The soldier stopped running and started walking, "Just give up, there is no chance for you anyway." his voice was cold, without the slightest fluctuations.

He had killed countless people, no matter which age or gender, he would kill without mercy.

He didn't see the two of them as a threat at all, standing behind them as Enri helped Nemu stand up, he started to swing his sword up, planning to end it in a single blow.

Enri's face contorted with rage, "How dare you say that!" she turned towards him, her fist slammed into the knight's face heavily. She had put all her might that existed in her body into this single strike, and then she turned and took Nemu by the hand again and ran further.

The soldier, who was hit on his face by a little village girl, stumbled back a few steps, but the sword still came down and drew blood.

It had hit Enri on the back leaving a deep gash, which bled heavily and the only reason Enri didn't break down immediately was probably thanks to the adrenaline spreading in her body.

Then as the realization of what had just happened hit the soldier, his face contorted in utter rage as he screamed and ran after them again.

"Damn peasant girl!! I will kill you!!"

As the two rum again, Enri realized that her feet were hurting as well as her back, but she still kept going, the problem was that just moments later, her little sister broke down.

The little girl's feet couldn't take her any further Enri's weren't any better and her back was even worse.

'No matter what! Until I am dead, I am going to protect her!' resolving herself

She hugged her sister tightly in her arms, while the little girl was crying as he hugged her big sister as well.

"Now die!" The soldier again took his sword up and wanted to swing down, to end Enri's life.

Enri was just waiting for death to come as she held her sister tightly pressed against her body.

'What's going on?' She had shut her eyes tightly with the expectation of dying while protecting her sister to the best of her ability.

But what was happening now, why was death not coming?

Enri slowly opened her eyes and what saw made her stunned.

Around two meters away from her, a thin dark line spread on the ground, and then it rose upwards, taking the form of a door made of pure darkness.

As she looked at it, something came through it, the first thing she saw was a hand of pure white bones with beautiful rings on each of the fingers.

it didn't take long and a pure white Skull was seen by her.

When the being completely revealed itself, the only thing she thought was that death itself had come to get their souls.

The being was tall, wearing a raven-black robe, that seemed like something worn by royalty, the robe was open so that the chest and stomach area could be clearly seen.

The bare pure white ribcage, with a red Orb lowing just below inside of it.

Death held a staff in its hand made of pure gold, seven snakes coiling around each other and in each of their mouths they held a different colored jewel.

Now she understood why the mand had not swung down, she wasn't the only one seeing Death and the soldier, who seemed so frightening to her...

To the being in front of them, there was probably no difference between herself and the soldier.

She was a bit glad, wouldn't death take the lives of these soldiers, who had ruined her, her sisters, her parents, and the villagers' lives, as well?

Would Death take these people's souls as well? Such questions run through her mind.
