9 Defense of Carne Village (PT-3)

'Seriously, could this not wait till we took care of the enemy?'

"Look Momonga, Ainz, or whatever other names you want to go by. Do you think that we can do this later? I summoned those 60 horsemen but I'm not so sure how helpful they will be. If Gazef runs away there is still the chance that they will attack the village."

Ainz shook his head and raised his hand, from a corner of the room the magical mirror that he had in the anime began floating and showed a bird's eye view of the village. The skeleton overlord moved his hand and the mirror moved closer to them and began showing Gazef, his men, and Alex's summons closing on the Slane Theocracy's magic casters.

When his summons were about half a mile away, Alex noticed that his men were about to start firing and he quickly gave them an order.

("Hold Fire")

To his surprise, it actually worked and the men kept their guns up but they didn't fire. 'Well since I've been kidnapped, I might as well make the best out of it. If they start firing their machine guns then the Theocracy will start freaking out and kill all my summons as fast as they can. Might as well catch them by surprise and let the summons do their jobs as meat shields.'

While the mirror showed the two parties rapidly getting closer and closer to each other he stole a quick glance at Ainz who seemed to be staring at the summoned calvary.

He looked back at the mirror and found that the Theocracy was preparing to cast the blue slip magic from the anime. Alex couldn't help but smile as the calvary kept running totally unaffected by the spell.

("Fire")

As soon as his mental order was given ink bullets began to fly towards the Theocracy's men. Most of the enemy did not have time to cast a defensive barrier and the bullets rained armor. He noticed that even though the bullets weren't as deadly as they should be since the men wore armor, they still seemed to feel the blunt force of it hitting their armor.

What he found interesting was that even if the angels were completely covered in ink it didn't hinder their movement as they charged and began cutting down the numbers of the summons. Meanwhile, some angels that were totally clean stayed frozen. The four angels that stayed still began to disintegrate as four Theocracy magicians were either knocked out or killed.

"Huh so they depend on their summoners to be able to attack, this makes things easier. It's also good to know that the bullets do some damage."

Since Gazef and his men were about to pass through the enemy line he decided to keep the Theocracy busy so that there weren't any enemy attacks from the back.

("Surround and Focus Fire")

About half of the remaining summons began running on air as they rained gunfire from above on the Theocracy's men. The other half on the ground waited till they were in the enemy line before splitting once more to the left and right and shooting the sides of the men. In a matter of seconds, a path was formed, Gazef and his men didn't need an invitation as they pushed their horses to run even faster.

By the time that Gazef and his soldiers crossed enemy lines he only had 28 surviving summons left.

'Wait....if I wait till they kill off all my summons then Gazef and his men would be out of range and the Theocracy's men might attack the village to reel Gazef in again, or they catch up to Gazef, kill him, and then destroy the village anyway. Either way, the village is screwed, I might have killed and injured some of their men but it doesn't make any difference. If I was there I would have kept harassing the soldiers but thanks to this bone head I'm stuck here.'

Alex looked at Ainz who was now looking at him, "Listen Ainz, I'm sure you noticed but I'm not going to be able to save the village, could you help me protect the village."

The overlord didn't even think twice before he shook his head "As I said before I have no connection whatsoever with the village or any of its inhabitants. I have nothing to gain from this quarrel. Though I am interested, why do you care so much about that village and that girl that you were looking at earlier."

Alex began to get irritated and he pointed at the mirror "Look man if you don't help them then the whole village will be massacred, those people are innocent."

Ainz nodded and used the mirror to look at the people in the warehouse, "They might be innocent but unfortunately today they got dealt a bad hand. Now start answering my questions, I'm warning you that my patience is running thin."

'You son of a bitch, where the hell is Sebas when you need him!. Now, what the hell do I do.'

He looked at the mirror which was now back into the battlefield. Things were going just as he had feared, the Theocracy was now moving closer to the village.

'Damn it'

"I already said that I was going to answer your questions, we are both from earth man can you not give me a hand? If you really want to gain something from saving the village then how about this, I'll include you as a business partner and we can work together. I provide the goods but you take care of selling them."

Ainz tapped his chin, "Hmmm, what goods would you be able to provide? I'm not sure how much you know or how you know anything about me but considering that you know about Albedo then you probably also know about my resources. Otherwise, you wouldn't be asking me for help. So tell me what can you give me that I can't simply get myself?"

Alex took out his parchments from a compartment in the ink armor and he called the armor back to the parchment revealing Arataka's Suit. He put his hand in his pocket and pretended to pull out a golden spider silk that he created.

"From what I've gathered, I'm the only one that is able to acquire it. As for the exact price of it I'm not sure, but a merchant that visited the village earlier was pretty much drooling over it."

Ainz observed the web more carefully and then looked back at him. "I see, so that's why you care so much about the village and that girl. You've connected with the villagers after living there... no that can't be all we've only been in this world for about 2 days. So why do you care about them so much that you would be willing to share the earnings of your product?"

Alex wanted to slap the crap out of Ainz for all the questions that he was asking, "Look man, unlike you I've been stuck in this world for two weeks. Now if you want to start hearing the freaking story kill the bad guys, they are almost at the village.

Ainz's lifeless eyes stared into Alex's.

Alex's body began to shiver, as much as he tried to look away his body refused to move an inch.

"Very well, I accept your offer, we'll become business associates. The distribution of the earnings will be discussed later among the many other things you have to explain. Know that if you fail to meet your end of the bargain and can't supply the webs you promised or if you lied and they are worth nothing then you will regret it. Now, if you would be as kind as to look at the mirror once more."

Now that he was released from Ainz's gaze Alex was finally able to move, though his body was still shaky. He turned around to look at the mirror but what happened next gave him a jump scare.

The Theocracy's men were slowly walking towards the village followed by their summoned angels. They were probably taking their time so that Gazef could have enough time to circle back. Everything seemed so normal until one of the men had a red blade come out from the front of his helmet.

Alex looked more carefully at the blade that had killed the man but it suddenly got pulled out of the man's helmet. The back of the helmet began squirting blood, when that happened it somewhat revealed an outline of something that seemed to be an insect.

It took him a minute until he realized what it was, 'It's one of the spider guards that tried saving Ainz from Albedo in the anime. Who knew they were so deadly.'

One by one the men were killed off before they even saw what it was that attacked them. There was one man among the group who was smart but even that didn't save him. When he saw that his comrades were dying all around him he quickly jumped on the back of his angel and had it fly high up. As the angel began to fly away from the village, shadow-like claws came out of the back of his armor.

'Damn those shadow demons are no joke.'

In a matter of about 1 or 2 minutes, all of the Theocracy's men were massacred. He still couldn't believe what he had just seen. Though he had technically seen how overpowered Ainz and his servants were, now that it impacted him he was terrified.

Ainz waved his hand and the mirror screen turned back to a normal mirror as it floated to its original place. "Now that the village is safe, I take it that there's nothing else that will get in the way. So about you being here for 2 weeks, why not start at the beginning and go from there."

Alex nodded and was about to begin talking before he remembered something, "Umm look I know that you are probably going to hate hearing this but there's actually something else that I need. I have 4 wolf cubs being taken care of by some of my summons on the edge of the forest, the connection that I have with them is now is getting weaker so they are about to Ummm expire. Could you get someone to bring them to me? I'd really appreciate that BUSINESS PARTNER… now let's see it all started when...."
