3 [Day 1] (PT-1)

Alex felt a warmth crawling through his body until it hit his face and shone a light into his closed eyes. He yawned and slowly opened them, trying his best to speed up the process of getting his sight to adjust.

He looked at the beautiful sight of the vast forest slowly being hit by the light of the sun, he was able to quickly spot the clearing where the fire he saw last night had come from. He could see some small structures, "Looks like I've found my target. From that small village, I'll be able to gain some information and hopefully find out what story I'm in."

He created a silk web and tied it to the tree before jumping down, he slowly began creating more web allowing himself to become somewhat of an elevator. He had experimented a bit last night so he knew that no matter how much he tugged on the web while he was making it wouldn't hurt.

He began walking as fast as he could while keeping his body low, suddenly after having walked for a few minutes he started hearing giant footsteps. The ground began to shake a bit and he quickly did the first thing that came into his mind, and that was to jump into a bush. After a few seconds the footsteps began to quiet down, he was tempted to follow them but he quickly rejected the idea.

He had no idea what the giant beast was, he was lucky enough to escape its senses once, there was no reason for him to purposely look for trouble.

Alex sped his pace and was practically running now, there had been several other moments where he heard odd creatures. One of them got pretty close as it sniffed the area near him, unfortunately, he was scared shitless and closed his eyes so he never got a good look at whatever the beast was.

After that Alex smacked himself "It's normal to be afraid but if I continue being this way then I'm screwed. Hades had already warned me that this story wasn't going to be a walk in the park when he gave me the 30 points. Treetops definitely would be better but there isn't much cover and my ability to escape will severely be affected."

He continued pursuing his goal and thankfully after a good while he was finally able to reach the edge of the forest where he could see the village. Since it was a village there weren't many homes, he was surprised that there wasn't anything to separate the village from the forest.

"With all those creatures that were in the forest how can they not have a defensive structure?"

Alex produced 7 webs that were about 10 feet long and wrapped them neatly in his sweater. Originally he actually wanted to use salt since he remembered from an essay he had to write how valuable it was for Romans. The soldiers had actually gotten paid with salt and that's originally what inspired the word salary. Since he had no container the idea was out for the moment.

He slowly walked to the clearing and towards the village, many people saw him in the distance but not many paid attention. When he was halfway in the clearing 2 men with bows strapped to their back appeared and started to walk towards him.

They smiled and gave a slight hand greeting, "Hi there kid, what are you doing here? Why are you alone?."

The other man sighed and whispered to his ear and the man who had just spoken scratched his hair and laughed loudly, "Right sorry, I can see that you've had a hard time. Let's go to the chief's house and get this sorted out after a meal, that sound good?"

At the mention of a meal Alex's stomach growled, 'The hell, chill out I've only been here a few hours.'

He gave a short nod and smiled, "Thank you that would be great, could you be nice enough to tell me what village I'm in?"

The men nodded and patted Alex's back as they led him to the village, "Well kid you are lucky enough to be at Carne Village the friendliest village you will be able to find in this neck of the woods haha. So while we are on our way to the chief, tell me, why did you come from the forest? Based on what I can see you don't have any weapons unless you have it in that fancy cloth you have in your hands."

'Carne Village? Why does that sound so familiar'

"I really don't know, to be honest, I don't remember anything till two nights ago. I woke alone in the forest with what little I have. Since then I've been wandering in the forest but last night I saw some fires from the top of a tree. I've been running here while hiding from monsters."

The men turned around to look at him in surprise "Is that right, perhaps you hit your head? Do you remember your name or where you came from?"

Alex put his head down and shook it, "No, it's not like I know it but something in me is telling me what it is. I don't know how to explain it, it's like some sort of gut feeling that I have."

One of the men nodded and gave him a strong pat on the back, "HaHa sometimes the only thing that a man needs is his gut instinct kid. Don't worry I'm sure that everything will come back soon enough, you just have to give it time. So tell me what does your gut tell you"

Alex smiled and nodded "Thanks hopefully you're right. The name that feels right is Alex"

The man smiled and gave a short nod after playing around with his beard "Alex, huh, not a bad name. I'm Ray and this is Zack. It's nice to meet you, Alex."

They arrived outside a large house that seemed to be made out of brick and stucco. One of the men knocked on the door and a little later an old woman opened the door and smiled, "Oh what brings you two back?"

She looked at Alex and gave a confused expression, "And who might this young man be?"

He put his head down and rubbed his head "Well, Ummm, I lost my memory, and umm I was able to arrive at the village after walking out of the forest. I was hoping to stay in this village for a bit, the forest is dangerous so this village is all I have now. As I was coming towards the village these two misters walked to me and said they were going to take me to talk to the chief."

The woman gave him a warm smile and nodded, opening the door wide open. He dipped his head in thanks and walked in. "You two hurry up and get hunting. We could use some meat, we have so many growing children after all."

The two men laughed and turned around after wishing him luck.

Once Alex had entered he stood beside the door, he couldn't help but feel like he had seen the old woman before but he couldn't quite pinpoint where.

The old woman told him to sit as she took some vegetable soup from a pot and gave it to him in a wooden bowl. "Sorry if it's too little but it's only me and my husband here so we don't cook all that much."

He shook his head and thanked her as he began to eat. Meanwhile, the woman left him in the house saying that she would look for the chief who was busy organizing things for a traveling merchant's arrival soon.

Alex was tempted to look around and see if he could find something useful to get to know the story he was in but he didn't want to get caught snooping around. "I know that I'm close to remembering the story I'm in, I don't need to take risks like getting caught and kicked out of the village."

In the end, he decided to sit at the table and try to rest, even if he only traveled for four hours it felt like an eternity for him. Having to worry about all those creatures was a living hell not to mention the night which was full of noises from the roaming creatures.

He was about to close his eyes when he heard a knock at the door. He stood up and slowly walked to the door hoping that it was the woman so that he could get all of this sorted out and get some well-deserved rest and begin to plan on where the hell he was.

When he opened the door he found a blond girl with brown eyes standing with a big smile as she was carrying a wooden bucket full of water. The thing that surprised him was that she was a character that he had seen several times in an anime. She was Enri the girl that had been saved by Ainz in the anime called Overlord that he had rewatched several times.

'I knew that Carne Village and that old woman sounded and looked familiar. That old woman showed up too little for me to completely remember her but the name of the village should have hit the mark. That means that there is going to be someone else who was sent to this world as well, and he will be overpowered to boot.'

"Uh hi, who are you? Are you with the merchant that we are expecting soon? Where's the chief and his wife?"

He came back to reality and smiled "Hi, I'm not with any merchant, or at least I don't think that I am. I lost my memory very recently so I can't give myself a proper introduction, sorry about that. As for the lady she said that she was going to look for the chief so that we could talk about me staying in the village until I'm ready to move on."

Enri looked at him in surprise then nodded and smiled even wider, "Don't worry your memories will return in no time. As for staying in the village, I'm sure that the chief will allow it. He is a really nice person so when he hears about you I'm sure that he will help you as much as he can. I'll leave this bucket of water here and then I'll do some other chores but after that, I could come back and show you around."

Alex smiled and nodded "That sounds great. I would help you but if I leave and the chief comes back after being called here then it would look bad."

She shook her head and put the bucket inside the house near the entrance, "Don't worry, I've been doing all this since I was a little girl so I'm used to it."

After saying goodbye she left, leaving Alex in deep thought. 'So I'm in Overlord, I'm sure that Momonga, Ainz, or whatever the hell he wants to call himself would be happy to have a fellow earthling visit him. The question is how he would react and just exactly how am I supposed to explain myself being here. I'm not a gamer after all so I can't tell him that I came the same way he did. If he quizzed me about the game then I would be screwed.'

While he was thinking the door opened and sure enough the man who opened it was a man wearing a red beanie on his head.

He found Alex sitting on the table, "Hi there, I'm the chief of this village. My wife gave me a rough summary of what's going on. Could you tell me what it is you remember?"
