4 Progression

[Narrator POV]

Doyle lifted his arm which also lifted the cloth-like material that covered him. In front of his hand, a complex magic circle appeared as he cast [ Maximize Magic: Flamewing ]. A large red flame that looked like a bird charged towards the multiple ogre in the distance causing them to shriek in pain. Their bodies began to burn revealing their insides. Boiled blood flooded the floor causing the icey frozen ground to liquefy slightly.

*Thud*

The burned ogres' bodies fell lifelessly to the floor. Doyle didn't waste any time as he heard someone chanting a spell behind him. An ogre sorcerer was halfway done with its chant until Doyle lifted his other arm causing a small blue flame to appear in his hand. With a swift motion, he crushed the small blue fire in his hand casting [ Dispel Magic ]. The ogre's spell was snuffed out which caused it to panic and try to chant one of its faster spells however it was too late. Doyle with the same hand lifted, casts the spell [ Triplet Maximize Magic: Burn lance ] which spawned multiple lance-like spears in front of him. Doyle maneuvered his arms up and moved it to the left which separated the lances around and then he pointed his right hand toward the ogre sorcerer.

The lances pointed their sharp firey tips towards the ogre then with one simple command, "Go" the lances all moved with great speed towards the ogre, each one stabbing it in a different place killing it easily.

Doyle has been in this world for about 2 years now, however, this time isn't correct for the real world. The game's world time is much quicker so it's only reasonable that for the players of the real world the time has been moving drastically slower than Doyle's. Over time YGGDRASIL has experienced a huge influx of players joining the game. Doyle chooses to avoid players since he doesn't want anyone dragging him down or annoying him with questions.

During these two years, Doyle has not been slacking off. He has gained plenty of levels and even created his own items. For example, he created his first divine item, a ring called { Ring of Secrets } which blocks other players from seeing his magic aura. Additionally, it blocks his information in the leaderboards. Another divine item that he has is the Item called [ Ring of Sufficiency ], this item gave him the boosted he needed for long battles. The ring made the mana for all spells when used havled when casted. So if a 8th tier spell coated 8 mana it would be cut in half making the cost of that spell 4 instead.

Doyle is the current number one, not to mention currently he is in a different league of his own. For example, the second player on the leaderboard is [ level: 40 ] while Doyle's level is already in the fifties.

It's pretty obvious as to how this happened. Doyle lives in the game, it wouldn't be a mistake to say that this game is his life. Whereas normal players have real lives that they have to deal with also. They have jobs, families, and responsibilities. However, Doyle's only responsibility is to get stronger. This is why he chooses to hide his standing in the leaderboards. His plans for the future would require him to do so. Don't get confused though, he will not be acting or pretending on weak or hiding his strength.

"These monsters are getting too easy now, it's time to go deeper within this world." Whispered Doyle.

He has been traveling at a steady pace deeper into Niflheim. Each time he noticed that the monsters were getting too easy for him he moved deeper into the world.

Doyle picked up the loot from the fallen monsters which consisted of gold coins and data crystals. After he looted the bodies, he checked his inventory.

"Hmm... Well, first I should head back to the safe zone to restock on supplies. It wouldn't make sense to explore the undiscovered without proper preparation." He said with a slightly irritated tone.

Going to safe zones was pretty much required if one wanted to restock on supplies, unless the player was in a guild. If a player was in a guild he wouldn't need to go to a safe zone since everything needed would be available to him/her within the guild base.

****

[Doyle's POV]

I just got done restocking on potions. Although I could make potions myself, they would not be as strong as the ones I purchase from vendors. My potions are considered simple and plain honestly and wouldn't really give me a enough hit points back in return when I need them. I look through my inventory making sure I've collected everything I need then closed it and pulled up my status.

|—————————————————————|

A smile grows on my face, though not visible due to the cloth-like material covering my face. My eyes glows a pure white color as the mysterious mist around my body circulates and caresses my body. It's always good to see the progress from your hard work.

My stats have grown greatly. I have been working hard on my classes as well. Due to my ghostly nature I've been focusing on illusion magic mostly. Illusion magic is very tricky and very effective in pvp, and investing in it to a certain degree would make it very broken in itself. If a player leveled deeply into illusion magic they could be capable enough to where they can then use a certain skills once every few days to deceive the world itself. By deceiving the world itself, an illusion can be made real. This means many things, I can legit make overpowered illusions real. The sky is the limit honestly, especially for when I enter to the new world.

Of course I also wanted to be able to cast special attack spells other than illusion magic so I took up the class of an 'Arcanist', this would open up the ability to use special attack spells which are critical for battles. This class gives me the ability to get pretty high dps which will be good for boss battles.

Additionally 'Sage' also unlocked much more spells I can use in different situations, and even opened up a whole new ability with it called "Lore skills". With its knowledge on spells and magic items I also have to ability to analyze spells before they are casted and get more background on items. But what I really leveled this class for is its class quirk. Normal Players in YGGDRASIL are only able to use up to 300 spells but due to Sage's class quirk this jumped up to 500 spells that I can use. I intend on leveling it higher to 'High Sage', with its in-depth and vast knowledge trait it should boost my spell arsenal even more.

Of course due to my free levels and skill points when I was in the negative levels I decided to put some levels in weapon master as it would make me very versatile. With my ghost racial traits and abilities it will me a very hard opponent to guard against for anything, though I haven't gotten a sword yet since I plan on crafting my sword later when I take on a new appearance. For now I'm focusing on my magic capability.

Due to my racial traits being mostly lore related, I won't be able to really show its capabilities until I reach new world. Still though the abilities and traits this class gives are pretty broken by itself. I have lots of immunities, I think probably the most immunities out of all races. Not to mention it gives me the ability to turn invisible without having to cast spells and I can faze through walls which is also broken if you catch my drift…

Stat wise Instead of grinding for physical defense I put more into my magic attack and mana pool, you can never go wrong with that haha….

All in all my build is really competitive. I tap the exit button and close my status. Now that I've collected my supplies I should start heading out. I still have a long way to go.

————————————————————

I reached out my hand stretching it and touched the four lizardman in front of me. While touching them I release my invisibility making me appearance behind them. They all turned around swiftly trying to swing their weapons, Touching them with my [Weakening Touch] passive skill their speed, attack, and defense all plummeted making their attack against me easy for me to dodge. However I choose to stand there in place knowing that their attack does nothing to me. The other lizardman who were hiding.....well at least they thought they were hiding waiting for a chance to strike me from the back believed me to be getting damaged and thought this was an opportunity. They and started to run towards me with their swords and daggers held high.

"Leuahhhh!"

They screamed their war cries as their attacks swung directly through me like I wasn't even there. They noticed I wasn't damaged and continued to swing their weapons. I stood there unbothered by their attack for a second then got bored. Looking at these pests with a unbothered and bored expression I lifted both of my hands, a black complex patterned magic circle appeared.

"[Quadruplet Maximize Magic: Hell Flame], chanting this a black flame appeared in both of my hands then shrunk separating itself into eight smaller flames hovering over each of my four fingers on both of my hands. With swift hand movement, I flicked these small flames on the lizards that surrounded me.

They noticed this and tried putting out the small flame but the flames climbed the bodies of the lizardmen growing bigger and bigger until it was swallowing them whole.

"ARGGHHHH!"

"Larghhh!"

Their inhuman screams echoed in the surrounding, The flames ate at their skin burning through the scales of each of them. My glowing white eyes narrowed and though my face was not visible one with perfect vision would see a slight smile beneath the wrinkled yet unwrinkled cloth like material that adorned me.

[ Level: 58 → Level: 59 ]

[ 1 Status Point Acquired ]

My attention was caught by the bell sound coming from the game interface. I leveled up again, good. I've gone pretty deep into this world moving away from its center, of course, that means I have encountered much higher leveled monsters. I have been repeatedly power grinding in certain areas of this world. For instance, the place I am currently in right now is home to level 45 - level 50 lizardmen. It's a great place for solo leveling as I am known for doing.

Though I know sooner or later I will need to partner up with a group to challenge the higher rewards monsters since it will require a group to take down these certain monsters. This is the reason I'm trying my hardest to get as strong as possible. I'd much rather soloing these bosses, my goal is to become a player who doesn't need groups and parties of players to beat the higher-level bosses.

*Ding*

Once again the bell sound from the game interface sounded off alerting me of something. I exit out of my status after allotting the skill point. Hmm?! Finally....hahaha! Finally, it's out! My eyes widen with excitement reading the virtual game window in front of me.

[Notice- The Cash Item Shop, Gachapon, is now available! Come and test your luck!]

Looks like it's that time already! The time every pay 2 win player loves and gets excited for. It's whale time.
