Chapter 7

One Year Later

Almost everyone stopped playing, except for me and Sara. We were the only ones who stayed and continued to play. However, Sara only logged in to talk to me.

Throughout this year, many guilds tried to raid us, but their attempts ended in failure. We learned from our past experiences and strengthened the defense of the tomb with a world item and divine-class items.

And now, it's the last day the server will be active.

"Cheer up," Sara tried to encourage me. "They say there will be YGGDRASIL 2, so don't be like that."

"Okay, okay, just go," I ignored her.

"Haaah... What can I do? Why am I even still here?" Sara sighed, and her character disappeared.

"It looks like I'm the only one who..." I thought to myself.

"No, stop thinking like that. Everyone has a life, and they can't just play forever. The good days don't last," I sighed and moved to the throne room.

"So it's the last minute," I sat on the throne and spoke these words while looking at the countdown for the server shutdown.

I looked at the NPCs that my friends and I had created and felt a little emotional.

"When was the last time I felt like this? I can't remember," I stood up and walked toward Mavis.

I patted Mavis's head for a few seconds, but unfortunately, I couldn't feel the touch in the game.

After that, I looked at the others—Toru, Esdeath, and Shinobu (the nickname for Kiss-Shot-Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade). It was fun.

"Goodbye," I said and waited for the game to log me out.

"Lord Nemesis, please don't leave us," I heard a voice coming from in front of me.

Hmm, why am I still in the game? Did they change their minds or is it an update? I looked around, and everything was the same, but at the same time, it was different. Everything looked lively—that's it.

"Wait a minute, did Mavis just talk on her own?" I asked her curiously.

"Yes, my lord. If there's anything you don't like about us, please tell me. I will change even if it costs my life," Mavis said while bowing her head.

"Wait a minute, Mavis is really talking. Is this an update? I don't know. I'll check now."

"You don't have to do anything. You're perfect just as you are," I said while patting her head.

"Patting Mavis's head feels great. Wait a minute, I can feel with my hand. This is impossible."

Now that I'm focusing, I think I can smell, too.

"Thank you, my lord. I am truly grateful for your compliments," Mavis said with a bright smile.

"Alright, Esdeath, pass my orders to all the floor guardians to meet me in the colosseum," I said while looking at her.

"As you order," Esdeath disappeared after that.

"Toru, check the surrounding areas of the tomb and report to me. And remember, don't use your dragon form."

"As you wish," Toru left through the door.

[Here, I changed the point of view.]

"Mavis, let's go too," Nemesis said.

"Mmm," Mavis stammered a little and started following Nemesis.

"What was that? Is it because of the character settings?" Nemesis was

lost in his thoughts until they reached the colosseum.

"It looks like they're still not here. Mavis, do you want to try fighting something?" Nemesis asked.

"I will do whatever you wish me to do," Mavis replied.

"I will check if the game's magic system still applies here," Nemesis said.

"Oh, right. Mavis, you are free to address me however you want," Nemesis told her.

"How can I be...?" Mavis started, but before she could continue, Nemesis interrupted her.

"You're all special to me, so you don't have to be polite," Nemesis said.

"I am special? Then, can I call you Nemesis-sama?" Mavis asked, her face turning red.

"Sama? Is it because the game was developed by Japanese people?" Nemesis wondered.

"I said you're free," Nemesis repeated.

"Okay, now this topic is over. Let's start. [Summon Magic: Great Geo Golem]," Nemesis said, causing the cube around him to stop moving and a huge golem to appear.

"Nemesis-sama, is this...?" Mavis was shocked.

"Yes, this is my unique magic. I can only cast it with the help of the cube. It can summon any type of golem, but they are level 99, so be careful," Nemesis explained happily.

"I understand," Mavis said before launching herself at the golem.

"As expected of Mavis. She is powerful enough to be compared to me," Nemesis thought while watching Mavis easily defeat the golem.

The fight continued for a minute, and then the golem disappeared.

"As expected of my right hand," Nemesis praised Mavis.

"I don't deserve such praise," Mavis started, but Nemesis interrupted her again.

"As I said, don't be too strict. Here, have a lemonade," Nemesis extended his hand into the black void that appeared before him and brought out a glass of lemonade.

"Thank you, Nemesis-sama," Mavis happily took the glass.

*Ting* Suddenly, a message appeared inside Nemesis' head.

"No way, a message? Is there another player?" Nemesis grew cautious.

"My lord, the situation here is bad. The land around the tomb is different from the past," the voice in the message said.

"So it's Toru," Nemesis sighed.

"Okay, I understand the situation. If you're finished, come to the meeting place. Oh, and I forgot something. Thank you for your hard work," Nemesis told Toru.

"How can I... Hmmm, fine. As you order," the message ended.

Within another minute, all the floor guardians had gathered in the colosseum.

"Hmmm?" Nemesis felt a little weird when he saw Esdeath stepping forward.

"Now, everybody, let's carry out the Ritual of Devotion and show the mightiest our loyalty," Esdeath declared with a serious face.

"The First and Second Floor Guard, Ramis Var Erhim, I bow to the mighty," Ramis kneeled and said.

"The Third Floor Guard, Shallow, I bow to the mighty," Shallow kneeled.

"The Fourth Floor Guard, Ghosto, I bow to the mighty," Ghost kneeled.

"The Fifth Floor Guard, Cash Dondarrion, I bow to the mighty," Cash kneeled.

"The Sixth and Seventh Floor Guard, Heart Under Blade, I bow to the mighty," Shinobu kneeled.

"The Eighth Floor Guard, Toru, I bow to the mighty," Toru kneeled.

"The Ninth Floor Guard, Mavis, I bow to the mighty," Mavis kneeled.

"Captain of the Guards, Esdeath, I bow to the mighty," Esdeath kneeled.

"And on behalf of all the tomb residents, all of the guards kneel before you. Please give us your orders. We give you our full loyalty," Esdeath said, awaiting Nemesis' response.

"Hmmm..." Nemesis felt a little confused.

"Why did they suddenly start introducing themselves?" he wondered.
