10 Chapter 10

In a breach of amethyst within the fabrics of space, I arrived and landed on my feet.

I readied myself in a combative position, rapidly surveying the surroundings. A forest. At least I think it is, not that I've ever seen one.

I don't see any monsters or enemies around, so I relax my guard a bit. The trees towered over me with leaves of emerald green filled with life. The lusciousness of all manners of life amazed me, the small insects crawling across all surfaces, flowers, grass, herbs, and all sorts of plants, in the distance I could see a herd of deers slowly trotting through the foliage.

And all this was but an iota of all that resides in this demonstration of natural beauty.

I looked at the ground where the cube fell and picked it up. The previously black box is now completely white, devoid of the power it once held, after all it was only an one use item.

Though some may consider it a waste, the particular circumstance I was in did not allow for any other option.

I fell on my behind, suddenly exhausted, everything I've experienced today catching up to me. I looked to the sky, just noticing the fact that it was completely dark.

Night had come.

I need to take stock of my situation, I need to figure a way to overcome this circumstance. Grabbing the strap on the Bag of Holding, I started searching through the container.

I had the time to steal a few dozen items, though most of them consumables. Shifting through it, I looked to see if there were any disguise type treasures.

After identifying everything available to me, I breathed a sigh of relief.

Clasping with my fingers a silver chain with every corner of it engraved with runes, and attached to it was an amulet of reflective prismatic silver.

In its center, there stood a single gem, looking as if made of solid starlight, trapping within spectrums of unknowable hues.

This was a Relic Class item, named Empyrian's Starlight Dew, it grants the user the ability to cast illusions through the medium of celestial light, it stores it in the crystal recharging whenever exposed to starlight.

The illusions can even reproduce a physical sensation due to the coalescing dew, though it drains the charge faster.

The most important factor for this treasure being instrumental to my continued survival, is the fact that it had extremely low requirements for someone to use. Since its power comes from celestial bodies, it doesn't require you to have any mana, and only needs you to be level twenty or above.

I put it around my neck, then realized that it didn't have any reserves and the trees in the surroundings blocked any light from coming through.

I needed to find a clearing. Preparing myself, I pulled out a Top Class sword to defend myself, the blade doesn't have any special characteristics, though it was quite durable for a weapon of its grade.

I hid the amulet beneath my shirt, I was currently wearing garments made of cloth, and I didn't want to change in the middle of nature. I tied up my hair in a small ponytail so that it doesn't get in the way, so that it doesn't get caught in the branches.

Trekking through the woods, circumventing through the roots puncturing out of the ground. Even if I was unused to the woodlands, I quickly adapted, in part due to the knowledge inserted into me.

A while later, in the distance I could see the moonlight shining upon a rather large patch of grassland.

Arriving before the field, I pulled out the necklace, presenting it to the sky, letting it shine upon it. The artifact started glowing a multitude of colors, strands of lights absorbed into the gem, burning with power once more.

Making sure no one was watching, hidden from view, I activated the treasure, it shone a radiant gleam of a million different shades, it then all became unseeable to the naked eye. The invisible light surrounded me, twisting my figure and changing my visual being.

Seconds later I could feel a slight weight settle on my body, seeing a small pond off to the side, I walked over to it and observed.

My hair had turned ginger, a dull orange, and my eyes were a molten gold. My facial features were changed ever so slightly, a shift to my nose, a turn to my tips, and various small switches.

I had also used the physical aspect of its prowess, better being safe than being caught in a lie.

To finish off my escape, I took out one more item I needed, a ring. It wasn't anything fancy, just a simple black band that let no light escape it. It was Legacy Class, and it had Anti-Clairvoyance capabilities. It should be enough as long as nothing directly targeted me with superior potential. It was called Empty Sight.

The Black Scripture will definitely be after me, and I'll need everything I have to evade their prying eyes.

First, I need to find civilization.

So, with that in mind, I moved on, continuing forward in this night filled forest.

Hours later, I could see it, the exit. I walked out from the woods and in front of me layed a vast open field as far as the eye can see.

I dragged the corpse of a small deer youngling I had hunted earlier in the night and started a campfire. Casting Produce Flame to set the branches I had collected on fire. Slowly cooking the game, I stared into the fire pit, contemplating.

Then, radiance.

Light started pouring out from beyond the horizon, a ball of unimaginable size rose, and with it came something I hadn't seen from the moment I was created.

It was the Sun. It was Sunlight.

And as I bathed in its splendor, liberated and pushing the thought of pursuers out of my head, I thought to myself:

'I could get used to Freedom.'
