1 A New Beginning

The year 2025 VRMMOs are all the heat. From celebs to sportsmen to social media influencers talked about it. In a single year, about 20 of VRMMOs came out but there was one that stood out from the rest, Denier. A game, a world which had no bounds.

People could become whatever they wished, a martial artist, a swordsman, a mage, a cook, a pet trainer, anything they wanted to be. It was like a new world separate from Earth itself. People gave Denier more time than their real-life itself or tryhards to be exact but in the end, all of them enjoyed the game.

A year later...

In a home near an army camp, an 18-year-old boy unboxed his first-ever Console, the gateway to the second world. He had already warned his mother not to disturb him. He plugged the wire into his laptop and slowly wore the helmet and then laid on the bed, his breath heavy with anxiety. The white roof on top of him disappeared as darkness engulfed his vision.

But soon the darkness turned into bright light. With small glittering wings, a pixy appeared in front of him.

"Hello, my name is Alisha." The pixy introduced herself as she flew around the boy before stopping in front of him.

"Thank you for buying our game Denier, hope you like it. Umm, what is your name dear user..." the pixy asked.

The boy went into thinking for his name but he had already thought of one after 10 minutes of research online. The boy opened his mouth "Hanzo"

"Sorry but that username is already taken. You can go for Hans0. Pronounced as 'Hans Zero'. What do you say"? The pixy smiled giving the suggestion.

" Ok. That's a good name. I will go with it." The boy said.

"Now then please change your avatar, try not to resemble yourself in real life as it might harm your life."

Han Zero started to customize his appeared. White hair, with blonde ends, dark crimson eyes, and a sleek body with a height of 182cm which he can't change. "I am done" Hans Zero announced to the pixy.

"Are you sure? You won't be able to change your appearance later." The pixy warned.

"Yes"

"Ok, then that will be it. Before entering the training ground. Do you have any questions?"

"Yeh. What about my class?"

"Oh. Don't worry about that, you will be able to choose your class on the training ground according to the weapon of your liking."

"Ok than, any other question?"

"No" Hans Zero nodded his head as the pixy started to radiate a bright white light that engulfed Hans Zero's vision. His vision slowly became clearer as he noticed a beach in front of him.

"Aah. Another guy" He heard a voice from behind. Hans Zero turned back to notice a man in a black tunic and dirty green clothes pants. "Are you alright?" asked the man.

"Yeah. I am alright. Where am I and who are you?" asked Hans.

"I am Dylan. You are in the Training Ground. Since I found you here means you are from the faraway land, a messenger of God. I presume" In this game, people are regarded as messengers of gods who can't die. Hans had already read about this thing in the manual and to act that way.

"I guess, so where will we go now?" asked Hans as he stood up and rubbed his clothes to remove the sand.

"Follow me, Biggie is waiting near the watchtower. Let me take you there." Hans Zero followed Dylan to a wooden watchtower. Below the watchtower, he noticed a 7-foot tall man observing his axe.

"Biggie I brought another one" Dylan announced as the giant man looked up at Hand Zero.

"Ok" Biggie stood up keeping his sword on the table. "Welcome to Training Ground Beachside. I am Biggie this place's observer. What's your name young man?"

"I am Hans Zero" Hans announced as he put up his hand to shake.

"Without wasting any time let me get straight to the point" Biggie announced.

Hans Zero simply nodded.

"There are two ways to reach the main Training Ground. One is the river that flows adjacent to Training Forest and the other is the Training Forest itself." Well, Hans already knew about this as he read it on the forums online, and he was ready to use the forest. As many pros preferred the forest to earn some early levels and experience of the game. But using the river won't put a significant impact on the level, as early levels are easy to earn.

"Choose!" Biggie said.

"I will go through the forest."

"I see. Even if you choose the forest, you can always choose to go through the river later. Now follow me to choose a weapon for your chance to survive"

Near the watchtower, there was a wooden house, Hans followed Biggie inside. As Hans entered the room he noticed three rows of a long table, weapons laid on them. There were many weapons like a spear, sword, knife, or dagger, a magic book, and staff, a mace, and an axe, etc.

"So, what's your pick?" Biggie asked.

"I will choose the katana." Hans Zero went ahead and picked up the katana and the Saya, the sheath of the Katana. The Saya was made out of simple wood with no special engraving, the blade itself was made out of bronze.

ting!

Hans Zero heard a sound.

[You have acquired 'Bronze Katana(Normal)

"Do you know how to check the strength of the Katana? " asked Biggie.

"No"

"Ok then slide your finger upwards like this" Biggie said as he swiped his finger in the air in front of him.

Hans did the same and a menu appeared in front of him.

On the upper right side of the information on the screen were two more icons. One with a sword and another with a gear.

Hans clicked on the sword, his inventory pooped up.

[Currently Wearing: Torn tunic, torn pants

Hans clicked on the Katana and equipped it. The Saya with the blade appeared on the left of his waist.

"Good, let's proceed to the forest"

Biggie led Hans to a dense forest.

"Ok. Then see you later" Biggie pushed Hans into the forest.
