227 Back in the Mine

Inside a dark cavern, the lightest of tapping can be heard…

Soon, a dim, warm light appeared in the distance. The noise of trudging steps rolled through the cave as that light got closer. 

Five people came around the corner within the main passage. By this point, all light from the outside world was beyond their reach. All that remained was the blackness and the chill of the cave's stagnant air. 

"It shouldn't be far," Aakur spoke up once they spotted the first fork in the path. 

"The gold vein was the final discovery here. We even ran out of drokum here. All that's left is the gold and that plague ore."

Half-nodding, Rizz kept a straight face. "Gerrart, did you see what made those sounds?"

Taken aback to hear the question, the wolfkin shook his head. "I'm sorry. I couldn't get a good look."

"Did you see where they were at? On the floor, the wall, the ceiling?"
