Chapter 6: Parade

"Young Master, you are really pretty, especially if you were to smile. You would always smile at everyone, right? Today after all is your wedding that many people could only dream of" the maid spoke in a gentle tone but Clyde can understand the underlying meaning it has

'It was your great fortune to be married to a Prince and you should be happy. Don't let anyone guess what happened today, only show them your smile'

If Clyde was still in his previous state of mind, the subtle words of his maid would make him act only in the way that the people around him wanted

He doesn't want to do that but for now, he can only obey. "Yes, you are right. I am really grateful that someone like me were to be wed with one of the Empire's stars even if I don't deserve His Highness" Clyde replied while berating himself. He was already used to making himself sound inferior, it was extremely easy for him to do it

"That's right, Young Master should really be grateful, especially for the Great Duke Duchess. If not for them, Young Master would not receive such an excellent spouse. The incident of today, I believed the Young Master already know what to do" The maid continued his wordplay. He spoke in a gentle manner yet his words were completely passive-aggressive

He was really putting on an effort to prevent Clyde from letting what happened today be known to many people

"Mother loves me greatly and he doesn't want to be away from me. I understand mother" Clyde passively replied, his words made even himself want to vomit a mouthful of blood

He can see and hear the maids trying to contain their laughter. These maids are different from the normal ones

They are all loyal to the Duke and were sometimes used to do dirty work for him. Normal maids don't know anything but these maids know that the Duchess has great hatred for Clyde

Seeing Clyde being this naive, they badly wanted to laugh loudly but didn't dare to do so

"His Grace even use the precious Holy Water to heal the Young Master, you are really greatly loved"

The maid continues to make Clyde feel indebted but that wouldn't work. His goal, for now, was to survive but if he can, he want to utterly destroy the Duke and Duchess of Rothland

The maids continue their work as they made Clyde as presentable as they can when the room's door was aggressively shut open

Seeing who was it that came, the maids around instantly lowered their heads in a bow

"We greet the Young Master"

Another Young Master of the Rothland Family has arrived but this one has a status much higher than Clyde. They are literally worlds' apart even if they were both the Duke's child

"How ugly" the Young Master immediately insulted Clyde after seeing his appearance

Despite being an illegitimate omega, Clyde was just too handsome and beautiful. It was to the point that even the legitimate Young Master of the Duchy can't help but feel envy

Standing at 5'6 in height, the legitimate Young Master of the Rothland Family - Jermaine Rothland has arrived!

Contrary to Clyde's silver-white hair, Jermaine has a light green one that he got from the Duke

His eyes were also a precious green color with a more vibrant shade. He has delicate facial features but his beauty is clearly inferior to Clyde. This was especially after Clyde was groomed by the maids

"B-brother..." Clyde called out meekly. Jermaine is only second to the Duchess when it comes to bullying and abusing Clyde

This omega has always been jealous of how pretty Clyde was. He can't believe that instead of him, a Noble of high status, it was an illegitimate child that was given such an appearance

The world is really not fair!

"Tsk, who are you calling brother you ugly whore?!" Jermaine spoke with venom. He was really the child of the Duchess due to how vicious he was

"I-I'm sorry" Clyde lowered his head while his body trembled, showing an extremely weak front despite wanting to slap Jermaine's face

"Hmph, you might be marrying a Prince today but so what? He's an illegitimate Prince with no power! Don't think that you are above me just because of that! While you are marrying an illegitimate child, I on the other hand is the soon-to-be Crowned Prince's fiance! You are still far below me!"

Jermaine's superiority complex was leaking out from him as he spoke like a 3rd rate villain

"I-I d-don't dare t-think in t-that way! B-brother is o-of the h-highest pedigree while I-I am m-merely surviving t-thanks to the D-Duke and D-Duchess's g-grace!" Clyde stuttered in his words, showing how afraid he was

"Hmph, be grateful that you are marrying the Prince today. If not, I would have already slapped you in the face for being impudent!"

With that, Jermaine went out of Clyde's room. He only came to show who is still superior between the two despite the wedding that will take place today

Clyde can only lower his head with low spirits yet his eyes were burning with rage that no one can see

'Endure... you must endure...' Clyde chanted inside his mind. For now, he was powerless but soon, he could have real status and power

Clyde didn't become the CEO and owner of the company he started by himself back on earth because of pure luck!

He is sure that with his brains and knowledge he gained back on earth, he can start his own company again

No matter what the world is, money in any form is a powerful thing!

For now, he can endure but soon, he will start a business to make a name for himself. That is his plan for now!

Jermaine's arrival only caused a short delay but the maids soon finished preparing Clyde for the wedding

After all the preparations, Clyde was finally done and he rode on a carriage that only the Royal Family can use

The carriage was white in color with golden engravings all around it. It was simple looking but also exquisite. No one will mistake it for a poorly made and cheap carriage

The shockproofing was excellent. Clyde can't feel anything, it was as if the carriage is moving despite it being an open one

The wedding of the Royals has always been grand. The consort would first be paraded all around the Capital for the Nobles and commoners to see

This was to make the consort be known by the citizens of the Empire

On the outside, it looks like it was done to Honor the consort but that wasn't actually the case

Only the Royals can divorce their spouse and not the other way around. And since the consort's face was paraded, escaping would be a hard thing to do since people would easily recognize them

Clyde read many books in the Rothland's library where he mostly stayed and from there, he learned and understood a lot

The books never stated the real reason for the parade and Clyde only speculated it base on the things he had read

Still, for formality's sake, Clyde smiled and waved to the people that his carriage passed by

The Nobles viewed him with despise but the commoners are completely different. For them, Clyde's life is a dream come true

Illegitimate children, especially between a Noble and commoner have very low status. They are often viewed as the disgrace of the household

They are frowned and looked down upon. The naive commoners thought that a Prince is still a Prince even if they are illegitimate

They didn't know that as long as a person is illegitimate, no matter if they are Nobles or Royals, they would still not be able to gain any real power

Clyde marrying a Royal today is something that these commoners can only dream of. Not knowing that behind his sweet smile was a fear that his life would be taken any moment from now on

The only thing that gives Clyde some feelings of consolation was the guards assigned by the Duke to protect him

In the past, before he can even be paraded in the whole capital, he was already killed

His coachman instead of showing him to the people took him into a secluded place where there is no one that can hear his cries for help

Fortunately, things have changed. The Duchess can't possibly continue the plan with the loyal Duke's men protecting Clyde

The commoners cheered Clyde. His image has always been a pure and kind one making the commoner's support for him to be high

In the past, Clyde has too low self-esteem. He thought that these commoners were similar to the Nobles

Sometimes, the Nobles showed him the respect a child from the Ducal house should receive but that was merely a front as even without him realizing it, he was already being mocked
