Chapter 5: Scheme (3)

"T-then could f-father l-lend me more guards? I-I'm afraid that m-mother would still be u-unwilling to let me go" Clyde said with a hopeful look on his face

He has such a pure and innocent face that would make it hard for people to think that this was all just a part of his plan

In the past, this day is the same day that he dies thanks to the Duchess and Empress. To prevent history from repeating itself, Clyde has to obtain the Duke's help

The Duchess sent people to assassinate him and with his current strength, there is no way he could save his life

Now that Clyde became too hotheaded earlier and offended the Duchess to that extent, Casey would surely make an even bigger effort to kill him

The Duchess has that kind of power and the only one that Clyde could ask for help was his biological father

"T-that..." the Duke was unsure. Him giving Clyde guards might cause the Nobles to gossips

The Duke may be powerful but he also has a lot of enemies. There are a lot of Nobles that want to weaken him so that they themselves can rise in power

One wrong move could cause malicious rumors to spread

Seeing that Harold was still unsure, Clyde decided to give it one last push. "I-I love mother but I-I'm also scared. I wouldn't be too a-afraid if I have guards with me"

Clyde deliberately pointed out that he wouldn't be scared if he has guards. With the image he has, the Duke is a hundred percent sure that he wouldn't tell a single soul about the incident today. But that doesn't mean the others wouldn't know about it

If Clyde showed too many abnormalities, the other Nobles in the Empire might still have a lot of speculations. If it even entered the Emperor's ears, that would be disastrous

"Alright, I'll order guards to protect you. In the meantime, you should start preparing for the wedding. I'll have someone give you a bottle of Holy Water to help heal your wounds"

Holy Water... that is an item that can only be obtained from the Temple of Light. Only the priests' Holy Power could produce such a thing

The Holy Water is used for purifying and healing wounds and even a drop was extremely precious

The Duke personally don't want to use such a precious item on an illegitimate omega but he doesn't have a choice

If people especially the Emperor were to see scars on the bride, it would be a big problem

"H-Holy w-water? F-father, you don't need to use an expensive and precious thing for me!" Clyde put himself in a low position

The other schemes in his mind wouldn't work if he don't have his wounds. Holy Water is a miraculous item, it can definitely heal him as if he didn't sustain wounds in the first place

"You don't need to worry about it, you are my son and you will even become a Princess today"

With that, the Duke went out of Clyde's room. He already 'roleplayed' enough, he doesn't wish to spend even a second more

Clyde was left in his room while clenching his fist. The Duke's guards would only give him a bit of security temporarily

To buy himself some time until he can have the power to prevent himself from dying, Clyde has to plan things carefully

However, before Clyde can even think of another plan, several maids already entered his room

"Young Master, we are here to serve and help you prepare for the wedding"

These maids are all Duke's people. They are instructed to take care of Clyde and satisfy him so that he wouldn't make any mistake

"I-I see, I'm sorry for the trouble" Clyde apologizes, he even bowed his head at them. A Noble would never bow their heads down for some maid yet Clyde did as he was raised by the Duchess that made him feel that he was inferior to everyone

"Young Master, you don't have to apologize nor bow your head to mere maids like us" the one that seems to have the highest seniority said gently although Clyde know that this made is only acting like this thanks to the Duke's order

"I-I see" Clyde replied while rubbing the back of his neck shyly

"We will start preparing the bath now. Please excuse us" the maid said and they bowed their heads before entering the bathroom inside Clyde's room

A Noble's room is big, very big. Normal people's house might only be as big as Clyde's room

Well, although this room is spacious, he rarely stayed in here thanks to a certain someone

After the maids prepared the bath, Clyde finally starts preparing himself for a wedding with a husband he hasn't even seen the face yet

Standing at 5'7 in height with silver-white hair and purple eyes, Clyde is a very handsome and pretty omega even more so after he was groomed

His silver-white air was a bit wavy. They also look as soft as a cotton

His gem-like purples eyes were glowing innocently and they were even complimented by the strands of hair that was on his forehead

Avery Clyde has a pointy nose that was the cause of envy of many people while his lips were a bright shade of pink with a hint of redness

If he wasn't an illegitimate child that was extremely meek with low self-esteem, he would surely be one of the flowers of the high society

His face was extremely pretty and angelic. There was no flaw in his appearance, making the legitimate omegas of the Noble Families jealous of him

Why was an illegitimate omega have such desiring facial features and not them who were born with a status they could be proud of? This is not fair!

Clyde looked at himself in the mirror. He was currently wearing an expensive pure white wedding suit that has some embroidery here and there

In his neck area, a beautiful necklace can be seen. The necklace has gold chains with a light gold gemstone in the middle

Gold is the Royal Family's favorite color. As a sign that the Emperor wholeheartedly accepts Clyde as a member of the Royal Family, he was gifted with that gemstone

It might look like a big thing and His Majesty really wanted Clyde as his son-in-law but that wasn't the case

The Empire merely has a custom that the Emperor would gift a golden-colored gemstone to the Royals' consorts. This was just for formality's sake

The Emperor appreciated the 6th Prince because of his talent but that was all of it and nothing more. That along with the Empire's custom was the only reason why he gifted Clyde such an expensive piece of jewelry

"A Royal, huh" Clyde thought inside his head while staring at the gold-colored gemstone

Being part of the Royal Family sounds like everybody's dream but it wasn't

Just by the fact alone that Clyde was assassinated thanks to the Duchess and Empress's plan can already be seen that being a Royal is not easy

The Empress' great desire to have her Alpha son take the Throne is known to almost all citizens of the Empire

It comes to the point that there were other Princes that died and people speculated that it was all thanks to the Empress

If they didn't die then the Empress would use all means to destroy them in another way

The 6th Prince is the Prince that is the most unlikely to take the Throne but he wasn't left unscathed by the Empress

Before Clyde died, his assassins foolishly explained a lot of things to him

The Duchess and the Empress are close with each other. They together planned to assassinate Clyde and make it look like it was the 6th Prince that did it

As for the reason? Clyde nor the assassin doesn't know. But if he were to guess, it would be a part of the Empress's plan to deal with the 6th Prince

Being a Royal is far from being easy. Even if a person doesn't have the desire to fight for the throne, they still wouldn't have easy days ahead of them

"6th Prince... I hope that you are not a foolish man"

This world is different from earth. Back on earth, it was much easier for a poor person to grow in power compared to this world

The Nobles and Royals' superiority has already been established for years. If a commoner wanted to become a Noble, they would face a lot of difficulties

Even if they were to succeed, they can only become a low ranking Noble

Back on earth, as long as a person is talented and was given an opportunity, they might become rich and influential in just a few years

The situation there was not as difficult in the Carstensen Empire and Clyde can only rely on the 6th Prince and the status he would gain with the marriage. But if his husband to be is a trash, he would be in an even worse situation
