3 Chapter Three

Snap!!!

"What's that?" I said

"Quiet" Luke whispered.

The sound was getting closer to us. The three of us looked at each other and held hands, trying to give each other courage. As the noise got closer I quickly shut my eyes.

Snap, snap

"Ooh, what do we have here?"

Surprised by the voice, I opened my eyes and looked up to see a lady about my age (twenty) looking at us.

"What are three little children doing on the middle of the forest? Where are your parents?"

Probably because the lady's voice was kind and the scare from before or the confusion from the situation I'm in, but I couldn't stop my tears from falling and burst out crying.

"Oh no" the lady put down the basket she was holding and took me into her arms, hugging me and telling me in a gentle voice. "It's alright, there's nothing to fear. There, there. Where are your parents?"

This is so embarrassing, I'm supposed to be twenty already but I'm still crying like a baby, it must be the body. I took a peak at Luke and Eva and saw them smiling awkwardly at me and that just makes me cry even harder.

"Cough, Ma'am, um, we got separated from our family and we don't know where we are. Can you tell us where this is?" Luke took the inituative to ask the lady about our whereabouts.

"Oh, we are at the south of 'Caluar'. There's a village up ahead, that's where I'm headed. What about you guys, do you know where your parent was taking you, maybe if we're going in the same direction I could take you. You might find them there." the lady seems to be very nice.

"No, you see. We don't exactly have a destination in mind. Our...umm parents umm just kind of umm..." Luke seems to be having trouble coming up with a story for our situation.

"Yeah, our parents yeah, um just woke us up and took us out. Yeah and you know, us being little kids and all, they don't tell us anything." Good job Eva.

"Ah I see. Well, why don't you come with me. I just need to meet up with my husband and we'll all go back together. Don't worry, everything will be alright." The lady said.

"Why don't you tell me your names? Mine is Lisa" Lisa, that's a nice name.

"My name is Evaline but you can call me Eva, this is my brother Luke and the one your holding is our little sister Cassandra , we call her Cassy." Eva said, deciding we are siblings, I gave her a look and she looked back with a 'what' expression, so I look over at Luke and he doen't seem to mind. Geese, what are they thinking, we look nothing alike, there is no one dumb enough to believe us. Besides, none of us even have the same hair colour. Eva has blond hair, Luke has black hair and I have brown hair.

"I see, then you being the big boy have been looking after your sisters right? Good boy." woops, sorry Lisa, I didn't mean to call you dumb., and the way she's talking to Luke is making his face red.

Then from a distance away we hear someone calling Lisa's name.

"Over here Jill!" Lisa yelled back, then she turned over to us and said, "That's my husband, his name is Jill, even though he's big, he's very nice, you'll like him."

I wiggled out of Lisa's arms and went to stand beside Luke and Eva. That's when I saw a giant stalking towards us. But what was even more shocking was Lisa walking up to the giant and giving it a hug.

Oh wait, that's not a Giant. That should be Lisa's husband Jill.

I realised I had my mouth open the whole time and quickly shut it, but a quick look to the sides revealed the same expression from both Luke and Eva.

"That's her husband, right?" I said. Jill was a huge man with big muscles. Standing next to Lisa he made her look like a tiny little girl.

"How did a man like that end up with Lisa?" Eva said

"Who do we have here?" Jill roared. Wow, even his voice is loud.

"Jill, these children got separated from their parents, I was thinking of taking them back with us and maybe help them look for their parents" said Lisa

"Sure. Sam could use a friend." Jill said.

"Sam?" Luke said

"Sam is our son, he's about your age boy." Jill roared to Luke. Can this man ever talk in a quieter voice, he's always so loud.

And so, Lisa and Jill took us with them, it was another long walk. Along the journey I kept being left behind so Jill picked me up and put me on this shoulder. I kind of felt troubled because Jill also must carry all the woods and animals they caught. But Jill looked chilled, so I relaxed somewhat.

Luke and Eva though looked to be having a very hard time, having to walk.

Hehe, the privilege of being the youngest is great for times like this.
