12 The Calm Before the Storm

4 days before the Invasion

3rd person POV...

Nadia and Ethan had been training for almost a month now and both have gotten stronger than ever before. They were both currently on the rooftop of Ethan's home preparing for another training session once again. Every day for the past month they start training at 5 pm, after Nadia's shift at the brew. They then train till 8 pm and eat their meals. And after dinner, they train till 11 pm. And today was no different, Nadia was especially feeling confident after unlocking a new power called reflection, and today she was going to test it out on a power a little more challenging than the others.

Nadias POV...

I stood with my feet centered on the ground as I took in a deep breath and focused on the energy within me. "Ok, are you ready?" Ethan started a little hesitantly. "Yes, I mean the worst that will happen is I get knocked off my feet," I stated confidently. "Ok, if you say so" Ethan muttered still not completely sure of the plan. As his angelic wings started to form out of his back, those same wings took their metallic shape as he flew 15 feet off the ground. "Ok, now remember focus, and reflect!" He shouted from above. I once again closed my eyes and tried to copy his aura, after about a minute an exact copy of his wings began to form out of my back. "YES, I DID IT!" I shouted excitedly.

"Great now slowly try and focus on changing the wings into their metallic form." He stated worriedly. I tried to do as he said as I began to feel the soft fluffy wings change into their cold hard metal form, but I got too excited and lost my concentration and just like that I was falling, but this time was different I wasn't falling a foot away I got knocked about 7 feet away causing me to lose my balance and fall off the building. "AHHH" I screamed and in a moment's panic, I closed my eyes and prepare for the fall. But it never came, Instead of feeling the hard ground, I felt a pair of toned yet comforting arms wrap around me.

I slowly opened my eyes to see Ethan flying back up to the roof. Looking at him took me off guard because he looked upset almost angry. "Thank you" I stated hesitantly as I put my feet back on the rooftop. Ethan staring at the ground put his wings away in an instant and looked me dead in my eyes bringing me chills. My instant reaction was to ask him what's wrong, but he started talking before I got the chance. "Why" Ethan stated coldly. "Why what?" I asked confused. "Why did you give up?" He asked this time with a little venom in his voice. I tried to ask what he meant but was once again interrupted. "You have been training for almost a month now, you're powerful and yet you were almost killed by a simple fall off a roof because instead of fighting and using the power that you reflected off of me you decided to close your eyes, and fall. You may be all-powerful but a fall like that still could've killed you or at the very least could've caused permanent damage." He ranted on.

"You can't just give up, not now, not in a battle, not ever, do you understand!" He yelled, I didn't know what to do I had never seen Ethan this mad I was speechless. "DO YOU UNDERSTAND!" He yelled once more. "I GET IT OK! " I shouted in response. " I didn't even realize that I was giving up until you pointed it out" I defended. "Bullshit" Ethan responded instantly.

It took me a second but I responded, "Fine ok, yes I gave up, yes I want to die, because id rather die than kill my last living relative. I'd rather live a peaceful eternity than spend another minute in this hell!" I exclaimed as I fell on my knees sobbing. Ethan was quiet for a little while, giving himself the chance to calm down before going on his knees and pulling my arms away from my face " You think your the only one who feels a burden on their shoulder...the only one that feels like giving up, well your not. But what I want isn't going to help anyone because there are 5 people in this world who need me to keep fighting for them, because they need me just as much as I need them. My mom, dad, Kai, my little sister...and you." I instantly looked up in shock as I looked him in the eyes, he then continued, " So if you ever feel like giving up ill be your anchor cause I've got your back no matter what." Ethan explained confidently.

I smiled as I hugged him and whispered, "Thank you...for everything." Truth be told he was right I needed to stop being selfish and feeling sorry for myself and start being the fighter that this world needed. Ethan was right I did need him, I wouldn't have gotten this far if it wasn't for him so the least I could do is to also be his anchor and become the best warrior I could become. For we are this world's only hope.

"Ok I'm ready to go all out, no holding back," I stated with newfound confidence. Ethan now with a genuine smile nodded as they got into position. Before they got started Ethan said one last thing, "Remember to focus but to also keep an eye on your opponent" I noded.

3rd person POV...

And the fight started off with Ethan activating his wings and making them change form once again. while also activating his red blade and arm armor he pointed his blade towards Nadia causing a red bright light to come towards Nadia who did a backflip and dodging it by a hair. The same bright red light hit the tree behind her and it caused the tree to not only break in half but also to burst into flames. And with a wave of his hand, Ethan caused the flames to diminish taking his eyes away from Nadia for only a second. But that second was all Nadia needed before she replicated his wings except instead of changing into the metallic form they stated in their angelic and soft form.

She then took in a deep breath and her arm began to form into the same arm armor that Ethan had but instead of the blade being red it was a beautiful turquoise blade. She then smirked as she looked up at Ethan. As Ethan proudly looked at her he muttered under his breathe with a small smirk "let the battle begin" After those final words they both launched Ethan flying down with his red blade at hand and Nadia flying upwards with her turquoise blade in her hand. The only thing that could be heard by the civilians was the clashing of two very powerful swords. Unfortunately, Ethan and Nadia had no idea that the invasion was happening a lot sooner than expected, for Liliths and the Axellions were only 4 days away from earth.
