14 Chapter 14: Ara's Promotion

Grammatical errors ahead.

Two days had passed and the prince is still in bed. The king and queen of the kingdom cannot help but to worry that their son might not wake up. Doctor Izamae kept on reassuring them that Prince Mark will be alright and will take awhile for the him to wake up due to the pain he had endured from the treatment.

"Two whole days," Dyaln muttered as he sat on his study gazing out of window, admiring the beautiful spring flowers. "If..."

Dylan shook his head, looking though the papers that were scattered on his table, scribbles, notes, and sketches of possible culprits that poisoned the prince were on the papers. He volunteered to investigate the case of his friend, Mark. It is tiring, that's for sure, it has already been a year he had gone through this and yet he is always led to a dead end.

A clue comes up, he follows it, then meets a dead end. And the cycle repeats, he tried and tried but still nothing.

Then he remembered, "A skilled doctor, new face, from another kingdom."

With the doctor, something might change. With the doctor, now in the scene, maybe he can finally find something. He is certain that the culprits are going after the doctor's head too, with her skills and as of what rumors say, that she can absolutely cure the prince. Her life will be in danger too, along with her family.

Taking a certain letter out from the drawer, he examined it carefully. He opened it and read what it is about, the weird yet fancy-looking handwriting is all it took for him to recognize whose letter it is from.

Letting out a chuckle, he grabbed his pen and wrote a letter of his reply. With someone joining him in his investigation, he cannot help but smile. Sure, it is kind of new for him to send a letter to Dylan, telling him that he is willing to help him with the case, but it truly gave him some relief.

Dylan called his trusted servant and gave him the letter, "send this letter to General Izamae."

"What?"

"Yes."

Ara placed her hands to her hips as she shook her head, this is why Rose is having problems on getting a man. She is too difficult to handle, men would never understand her at all.

"What? I am not bluffing at all." Rose said.

"No, I still need to pass a test. And Queen Rhea should be present, she will be the only one who can promote me, not you."

Rose placed the herbs down to a table, pausing on organizing it.

"Who cares? You already passed the test anyways."

"And how did I exactly pass the test?"

Rose walked up to her, placing her hands to Ara's shoulders and shook her violently. This woman is ridiculous! Can't she just believe the words she said?

The nurse went dizzy after the doctor's shaking and playfully slapped her in the arms. Fixing her attire, Ara picked up the herbs from the table and continued the job on organizing it.

"You have proven yourself enough, Ara. The patients you've had helped, and I am aware about your acts back in the hospital. Courageous ones that is."

Completely taken aback, Rose giggled and shook her head.

"But it doesn't mean that I am certified as a doctor, you know that very well." Ara said.

"Hold on a second."

Rose went out of the apothecary while Ara sighed and continued doing her work. The doctor ran to her office and grabbed a paper and pen from the drawers. Rose ran back inside the apothecary and slammed the objects she took onto the table.

"The heavens–"

"Rose–" Ara said slowly, observing the doctor carefully while Rose shushed her to silence.

Rose placed her hand on the paper and it suddenly glowed, her dress flowed as wind surrounded the doctor. The floor where she stood also glowed green and circled around her. Truly enchanting. As what Ara would describe as she witnesses the magic in front of her, inside the apothecary.

"The heavens and our ancestors is our witness. As I, Rose Freya Izamae, Doctor of Eclair, and apprentice of Rhea Alvarez, our Queen. Hereby declare, Ara Steep, now a doctor of Kingdom Of Eclair. I wish you good luck as you start your journey as a doctor. Serve the Majesties and kingdom well."

The glowing paper turned gold as she finished reciting the words she needed to say and flew all the way to Ara. The golden paper crumpled itself and poofed into dust, completely surprising Ara.

"Congratulations!" Rose exclaimed as she engulfed the new doctor with a hug. Ara cannot believe her eyes! She is finally a doctor!

Shaking her heads to the side, she pushed Rose and shook her violently. "Are you crazy! The Queen is the only one who can do that! Why– How?!"

Rose laughed at Ara's reaction, waving a hand. "It's alright, I asked permission to Her Majesty about it."

"And she agreed?"

The Izamae scoffed, Of course the queen would agree. Queen Rhea was just waiting for the right time to promote Ara, but couldn't find any time because of Royal matters. So she gave Doctor Rose Izamae, her apprentice, permission to be the one to promote the nurse.

"How though?"

"Ara, my ancestors were also the kingdom's past rulers' apprentices'. We also have the power to do what the rulers can do, if they give us permission. Do something with the same abilities they do without their permission, me and my family will be facing an unforgiving punishment."

"You must keep all of this a secret, do not mutter a word about this outside of the family. Do you understand?" Rose sternly said, while Ara gulped and nodded slowly. Though all of the information were bothering her, she chose to shrugged it off and move on. There are so many secrets a family holds, she should have expected this one, especially because this family her the Royal Family's trusted people.

"Well enough of this, we should go and celebrate!" Rose cheered and grabbed Ara by the hands, they ran together out of the establishment, all the way to the main house. Both giggled as they had their small trips and falls but managed to reach the house with no scratches.

As they waltz inside, the two went pass an open double doors. Rose hushed Ara and both went to take a peek. There they saw Riza, sitting beside the window with a smile on her face, her brown eyes lit up in happiness as she was gazing outside. Her straight auburn hair, tied up with a simple tie, and her light lavender dress that made her skin shine, caused her to look like an angel.

With Rose taking the lead, she embraced the woman with a warm hug. Riza turned her head and smiled at her sister-in-law, leaning her body towards her.

Ara still standing by the doorway, admiring the two beautiful woman. But somehow she felt left out, of course she would. Why would nobles acknowledge a low born like her, Ara would never be able to feel easiness in life, everything will be hard for her. She needs to work harder and harder for her sister, Aya, and for herself.

Her life may not be hard as of now, but she is afraid of what may come in their way, she doesn't know what the future holds.

"Ara, come here." Rose called, making her escape from the sudden trance. With a light smile, she waltz her way to Rose and Riza, holding her hands together nervously.

"Yes?" she asked.

Riza smiled at the blonde beauty, Ara is definitely a beautiful girl, so gentle yet tough, you can call her a perfect lady if you will. Heart shaped face, with green eyes with the same color as the apple in a tree, you can see the freckles scattered across her cheeks up close, and her cute button nose and pink lips perfectly fits her.

Noticing the girl shaking a bit, Riza stood up and held the her hands, "what seems to be troubling you, dear?"

"Nothing, a little cold I guess."

With that answer, Riza raised a brow, but she lets it slide. "Is there something you want to announce, Rose? You look so eager."

Rose nodded frantically, her smile so wide and beautiful. She placed a hand to Ara's shoulders and bounced a bit. "Mhmm, I am pleased to tell you that Ara," she turned her attention from Riza to Ara, "is now a doctor!"

"Oh, congratulations, dear! I am proud of you!" Riza exclaimed after hearing the news and embraced Ara in a warm and tight hug, she is truly happy that the girl finally became one that she dreamed to be.

Ara was taken aback by Riza's words. She only met the woman for a couple of days and she's here, embracing her and told her that she's proud of her. She was caught off guard, she was utterly surprised too.

"Um, thank you...?" Was her reply, feeling uneasy and shy about the whole hugging and Riza being proud of her.

Rose saw this gesture, she saw the way Aea acts, she is uncomfortable with all of this happening, like it is happening too fast. And so, she cleared her throat to catch their attention.

Riza pulled away and gave Rose a confused look, while Ara smiled stiffly. Rose sighed and looked at Ara with a soft look.

"I know what is bothering you." She said, "I know what is going on in your mind. You need to get all those negative thoughts out of your head, you are a part of the family. No need to be all formal, stiff, shy and uneasy about it. You've been with us for years now, papa took both you and Aya under his wing, you are basically my sister."

"You can tell us what is troubling you, Ara. We are here to help you, we are your family." Riza added and slung her arm around her shoulders.

Ara looked down, she must have been too harsh to herself, perhaps they are right, but still, how can they just treat a low born like her so easily? Their hearts are so pure.

"It's just, I am–"

"Not a noble?" Rose questioned, "Why would we care about that? Just because we are not related, or do not have the same social status does not mean that we cannot be your family, right?"

"Ara, take it all easy, don't be so hard on yourself, all will work out. Now, enough all this drama and let us celebrate!" Riza pulled Ara closer to her.

"Thank you." Ara whispered but was clearly heard by the other two present in the room.

"Let's go!" Riza exclaimed and dragged Ara out of the room with Rose laughing at their tail.

This family, so kind and gentle, welcoming anyone into their family, Ara was glad that Doctor Theo took them under his care, Ara was glad and thanked the heavens for the blessings they have given her. She will cherish them forever in her heart.
