3rd Person's Pov

Avery's face was plastered with a nasty grimace. The childishness of not being able to escort Yelena into the event was overwhelming her. She is only able to accompany Yelena into the carriage; she is unable to enter the party hall.

She took a glass of wine from the drink-serving server and played with it. Yelena is receiving compliments right now on the clothes she's wearing, and the aristocratic men are starting to take notice of her attractive beauty. The look in those men's eyes makes her feel envious. She would remove their eyes to prevent them from seeing, if it were possible.

After sloshing the wine from the glass, she tasted its sharpness and felt the alcohol burn a little in her throat, but the aftertaste was pleasant.
