35 Chapter 35

The competition ended with Lady Lizabell Cartel as the winner. Everyone congratulates her as Avyanna watches from the sides.

The lady saw Avyanna and immediately excused herself and waved to her.

"Lady Brooke!" Lizabelle called.

Avyanna smiled at her.

"Congratulations, My Lady." She bows slightly without her smile fading.

"I did all of it for you." The Lady said.

"It was an honor, Lady Cartel."

"Lady Brooke can just call me Liza. Lizabelle is too long and adding My Lady to it makes it too formal." Lizabelle insisted.

"If you insist, Liza."

The lady giggles.

"By the way, I didn't know you were good at archery." Avyanna started.

"Hmm. Well, I probably got it from my father. Because he never misses. The beauty I got is from my mother. I am the fruit of their love," She joyfully said.

"It must be nice."

"It is."

"Oh! That's right, here." The lady took a ribbon out and gave it to Avyanna.

"This is..." Avyanna stares at Lizabelle.

"It's a good luck charm. I embroidered the lady's name right there."

When Avyanna saw the embroidered name, she couldn't help herself but to draw a sword and point it on Lizabelle's neck.

The nobles present gasp in surprise and the knights also draw their sword, unknowingly who to point it at.

"Don't." Lizabelle calmly said with a wicked smile plastered on her lips.

Using her finger, Lizabelle pushed away the sword from her neck. And then, she put her finger on her lips.

"You'll know me eventually. But put down your sword." The Lady calmly said.

"Avy? Avy, what are you doing?!" Yelena came forward and pushed down Avyanna's sword.

Everyone's eyes are on them. Avyanna's sharp eyes couldn't be taken off from the lady.

Lizabelle lowers her head.

"I apologize, My Lady. Please.."

In one snap of fingers, the situation came back to normal. Avyanna's sword is still attached to her waist. People talking to each other, the knights are on standby.

Yelena was standing on where she was before, being surrounded by the ladies. Her eyes was on Avyanna and Lizabelle.

"What are you?" Avyanna strongly asked.

"I told you. You'll know me, eventually. Now isn't the time but.. that day will come."

"A reminder My Lady. Always have that ribbon with you, it'll save you." Lizabelle bows again. "Until then, My Lady."

The Lady's eyes glow purple that gave shivers to Avyanna. She knows whose those eyes belong to.

She looked at the ribbon that had her name embroidered.

Avery Bridge.

Save her? A ribbon will? Where and when will it save her?

She stood still as she thought everything over. Everyone's here, the characters that she only once thought of as characters in a book. But now, she has a feeling that something bad will happen.

What is it?

What kind of trouble awaits them?

Avyanna's Pov

I groaned when I got another invitation for a ball. This'll be the last for this delegation because tomorrow, all participants will hunt in the hunting grounds.

Whoever caught the rarest prey will be the winner.

"My Lady? I have arrived."

I immediately went to get Diane. So today was her arrival.

"Good day."

She bows politely.

"Good day, My Lady." She greeted me with a wide smile.

"How was your trip?"

We entered the tent and she put the small luggage on the table.

"It was a safe trip, My Lady. I have the dresses come from Lady Erika." She replied.

"That's great. There was a ball later, care to help me with things?"

She chuckles. "Of course, My Lady. It is my duty." She suddenly wore a poker face. "But remember to raise my pay for this."

I laughed with what she said.

"Of course."

....

The time is here. The ball hasn't started and Yelena sent me a letter that we'll meet on the second balcony of the built tent before it starts.

And I am now here, waiting for her arrival. Was I too excited to see her?

I'm a fool for her I guess?

I suddenly felt dizzy but I shook it off. I can't be dizzy here.

"Avy?"

My chest was lightened with joy as soon as I heard her voice. It felt nostalgic hearing her voice calling for me.

"Yena."

I crossed my arms on my chest in order to not lose myself and hug her intimately. But then, she was the one who wrapped her arms around me so I couldn't help but hug her back, tightly.

When she pulled away, she smiled at me. But something is wrong with her smile.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Avy..." She tightens her grip on my arms. "Do you trust me?"

I smiled and held her face. "Of course."

"That's a relief." She breathed heavily. "Can we pretend to be enemies today? Just today, be the people we used to be before."

It seems that something is bothering my baby today. Of course I can't resist her request. There might be something going on.

"Sure." I answered.

"Really?" Her face lightened up.

"Of course. Just for today, okay?"

"Yes. Just for today! I promise!" She hugged me once again, with her arms wrapped around my neck.

She's tip toeing. Did she wear short heels today?

She loosened her hug and pulled away from me, however, our faces are centimeters away. I was stunned and couldn't move.

I couldn't progress quickly when she suddenly took a peck on my lips and pulled away from me completely.

"L-let's have a nice act, A-avy."

She then rushed outside. But I couldn't miss the glimpse of her red ears. The moon loves us too much, it brightens so much when we're together.

I touched my lips. She's getting bold. This is the second time she stole a kiss on me.

I will make sure to steal a kiss on my own, my sunset.
