10 Overnight 1

The moment sunlight passed through the window and hit Trex, he finally broke his super concentration from the game. The warmth brought upon by the sun surprised him greatly.

It didn't take too long for him to despise it, though. Due to the holographic effects of the game console, the slight increase in luminosity reduces the hologram's clarity.

Groggily, he stood up to close the curtains and resumed the game. Everyone who sees him could instantly tell that he's addicted.

Currently, Vurm had ventured starting from the meadows, to the forest, to the rivers, and all the way to the mountains where Ihgel, the game's antagonist, is supposed to live.

Trex was undeniably surprised by how vivid and alive the world of Spellworm was. Such a simple game, but the environment is perfectly realistic and detailed. If it were 2D, it would've been reasonable for one to call it a movie, but the hologram displayed the full 360 degrees of graphics in the area where Vurm and his opponents stood.

It doesn't lose to full-dive virtual reality in Trex's previous world in terms of graphical fidelity.

This amazed him.

Along the way, Vurm looted artifacts and gears meant for upgrading various stats, which was discreetly described in the game as actual things with actual real-life effects.

Each artifact and gear had its own lore concerning the story of the game. This is where the modern games of the past world beat the magic world's video games.

Maybe it was because the central theme of the game is educational, but plot holes are everywhere. Even though the lore for the artifact is so epic, the way that Vurm picks up a necklace owned by the third god of eagles from a level three slime. Still, according to the book, the item lore came from actual events in the real world.

The more Trex played the game, the more he learned about the world he was currently in. Back in his past world, the concept of a fantasy world had always revolved around magic, fights, beasts, and gods. But in this world, spells, battles, monsters, and deities are considered as a splice of life or history.

Now, the purple worm called Vurm is fighting against a wolf with silver fur with green accent. Each time it attacks, the green accents glow, and a shot of a silver bullet hits Vurm. In Spellworm Bestiary, an in-game feature, this wolf is called Stellen Wolf due to its color being similar to an arcane metal called Stellen Alloy.

Whenever the bullet hits Vurm, a couple of runes disappear from the board, inhibiting him from casting certain spells.

It was an actual spell that inhibits the target from communicating with a room. The simple way of presenting it to the player impressed Trex immensely.

Fortunately, Vurm had leveled up and gained another row for Trex to pick runes on. As a tier one level four spell caster, Vurm can now cast spells having six runes. Unfortunately, the concept of casting a level three spell compared to level four was not three plus one. Instead, it was closer to adding another oxygen molecule to h2o. While the resulting material still looks like water, it becomes corrosive.

This was why he never attempted to try using spells greater than level three.

Tapping five runes, Vurm began to cast a level three spell. Submitting the spell, Vurm's eyes glowed as smoke began to emit. The rune consisted of two yellow runes, one cyan, one purple.

Yellow electricity sparked around Vurm as purple afterimages remained.

A text bubble appeared on top of Vurm. "Star's lightning!"

A yellow forked lightning bolt shot out from Vurm, which directly hit the Stellen Wolf.

According to the book, this was one of the spells that dealt ethereal damage, a form of damage directed to the soul. Due to the Stellen Wolf's fur, spells that deals physical arcane damage would be mitigated by quite a lot. In this case, even though ethereal spells are substantially weaker than physical arcane spells, due to the damage reduction, ethereal spells would deal more damage than the counterpart.

Instead of the red health bar going down, a purple bar suddenly appeared below the wolf's head, which emptied immediately after a single spell.

Another reason, in this case, is that stellen alloy and the Stellen Wolf conducts the ethereal much better, which makes it highly effective.

Another text bubble appeared on top of Vurm's head, "That spell was very effective!"

The Stellen Wolf disintegrated into ashes and disappeared as Vurm resumed his adventure.

Trex breathed out.

According to the game's bestiary, various species of monsters and beasts appeared throughout Vurm's journey in the game; these were only tier one, level five, and below. While there were races that could go beyond their genetic limitations, it was rare as most of the time, these creatures would morph or evolve into a different race as needed.

Trex was interested but only a little. His specialty is still in mechanics and computers rather than biology.

"Hmm, my body is feeling a little heavy," mumbled Trex as he opened the curtains and looked outside the window. The warmth of the rising sun embraced his new sensations.

Inside his mind, he looked at the files. Finding what he was looking for, he immediately opened the text file.

[IF: SUNLIGHT IS EQUAL TO TRUE THEN: EMOTION SET TO HAPPY]

Trex smiled. The warmth of the sun really made him feel happy.

Whether the emotion was just simulated or what he actually felt, he couldn't tell. Still, he felt something, and since he's real, the feeling should be real too, right?

After a heavy sigh, the thought of being alive suddenly hit him.

Getting sucked into a new world that was ripped open by a black hole and a dead star. It was so ominous, yet in the end, it gave him life instead.

Back in the metal world, he stared at the neon tree.

Once again, he began to search for something with the tag 'tree of life.'

Various literature, notes, images, videos, and anything one can find about the tree of life on the Internet appeared in front of him.

After skimming at least half of what appeared in front of him, the words life, immortality, the core of the world, and creation are straightforward summarizing it.
