20 Future 2

Surprised by his sudden outburst, Illana stopped in her tracks as everyone stared at Trex.

The moment Eliza saw her son staring intently at the dog tags, she had a premonition.

In Trex's view, each dog tags had a tiny wisp floating around the hole in the tag. At first, Trex thought they were something normal in the world of magic. But the more he looked at them, the more he felt something within him react. That was until Illana got closer and he heard a voice.

"I don't want to die."

It was the voice of a woman laced in fear. Just hearing those words made Trex scream, "wait!"

It was then that Trex felt a connection to the floating wisp. Fortunately, the zip lock bag was just an ordinary material that didn't really do anything to anything arcane, so the wisp managed to flew away towards Trex.

Various voices entered Trex's mind speaking gibberish which caused him to grab his head while groaning in pain.

"Are you okay?" Eliza immediately grabbed Trex's head, her hands glowing yellow as she began to hex a calming magic.

Everyone else also stood from their seats and got closer to Trex. Chris even had a "is this really happening now?!" look on his face.

"M… mom, I'm not feeling well. I'll go back to my room for now," Trex said as he rushed upstairs towards his room.

Eliza had her hands still glowing, holding on to nothing. The light of magic faded away.

She then looked at the group and attempted to calm everyone. Her heart worrying for her son, but when her eyes shifted to the lawyer, she knew she was staring at a cornered fox.

——

Rushing through his own room, Trex felt his head exploding, especially around his ears.

Quickly rushing through the door, his fight crumbled the moment he locked the door.

Starting from his ears, his skin turned translucent blue all the way to his feet. Then, like a chameleon moving out of its camouflage, his ears suddenly turned into a tendril of smoke.

Trex was finally relieved from the excruciating pain. Nevertheless, his mind hasn't settled yet.

The nine floating wisps suddenly moved towards his ears and began to fly around happily like an eclipse of moths towards a lit candle.

At that moment, various images flashed in Trex's mind.

A stocky-looking man lifting various bags and tools along with a woman with an inverted triangle body shape with her hex that can compress matter three times its size. This was the siblings Hinter and Berlotte Vega supplying logistics for the entire party.

A short, average build man covered in camouflage running in between trees and shadows scouting ahead of the party: Viden Zastan, the party's main scout.

A tall, burly man covered in scar but with his heroic gait gives a sense of safety and protection: the team's vanguard, Eimir Melory.

A burly yet stout man carrying a bow with an arrow tail stuck in the middle, whenever he pulls, an arrow made of mana materializes, hitting his targets with precise accuracy: Bren Draec, the team's hunter.

An athletic woman with gauze wrapped around her bare knuckles. Still, every time she moves, the tail of the moved as if it were a tail: Jyn Lee, the group's brawler.

An average-looking man carrying several pouches hanging in his belt filled with marbles that are brimming with vitality and mana. Accompanied by his grimoire holding cantrips that can assist in first aid, Eagor Phelan, the team's healer, had always been the closest to everyone in the party.

A short and young-looking lady carrying a viola walks just beside the healer. The scroll of the viola and the handle of the bow formed an image of a hummingbird that strengthens everyone in the party: Lora Stein, a string bard.

A curvaceous woman carrying nothing at all stays her hands behind her, always accentuating her ample breast. All those who stand against her always freeze. Not just because of her charms but mainly because most of her spells have the power to control large crowds. Somir Manema, the party's support.

The ways of the arcane had always been vast and mysterious. Categorically, everyone is an arcanist. But there will always be a specialty among the four categories, which is called specialization.

Everyone had their specialization, and all of the basic knowledge of each specialization entered Trex's mind.

Besides the knowledge also came their personality. Like how Bren and Eagor always teased Jyn in front of Marko, making him laugh. Somir's habits including biting his nails when bored or always had his legs shaking. Everything entered Trex's head.

This time, instead of feeling excited at the new things, Trex felt terrified and panicked.

Wasn't the memory transfer of Jonathan failed due to him not having enough space to store the mentioned memory?

Now that these bits of knowledge are also technically memories, wouldn't this flood his personality?

But, no matter how he struggled, each bit of information entered his mind endlessly.

Trex wanted to scream, but he couldn't.

Even more, information trickled into his mind, such as their tactics, formations, positions, and signals. When Jack boasted it was one of their best parties in town, he wasn't lying.

There's was just way too many things to learn from them.

Time passed, and Trex remained gripped in fear. Even more pieces of knowledge entered, such as their reasoning on why they do what they do.

Each of the nine people is being unraveled to their core within Trex's mind. But Trex wasn't able to pay attention.

Another ten minutes had passed, and Trex had been absorbing knowledge for over thirty-three minutes now. Trex stopped being terrified a few moments ago.

Ignoring the knowledge still pouring into his mind, he began to question what really is happening here. How come he still feels like he's him. If he's being honest with himself, this sort of information transfer felt nothing to him. This was just a basic computer process. Something he had infinite experience on.

His thoughts began to wander towards the current OS of smart mind, "just what on this planet is going on?" he whispered.

At the forty-fourth minute, the knowledge transfer ceased.

The ten wisps that were floating around settled in his ears and were suddenly absorbed in.

Trex's skin returned to human-like, but his complexion was a bit red. His smoky blue ears had rolled on itself once again and camouflaged back into a human ear.

Even the ten wisps blended with his skin, perfectly invisible.

"Ten?"

"Did I count incorrectly?"

"Maybe I saw wrong?"

Feeling extremely exhausted, Trex stopped his train of thoughts and groggily jumped into his bed. He felt utterly drained.
