Beautiful Nightmare 1

In a deep dark with no end in sight, Trex floats gently. In contrast to his gentle bobbing, his expression is one of in pain.

Just like the Vygdrasil in the holoroom, cables of mana connect him towards ten different people.

Those people were Jonathan and the nine mercenaries. Just like Trex, everyone is floating gently with their eyes closed.

Still, three different cables were glowing ominously red with the flow that seems to indicate it was moving towards Trex.

After a short while, the cables snapped.

Without any signs, the three people, Hinter the logistics, Jyn the fighter, and Eagor, the healer, suddenly broke into particles and disappeared. It was their cables that were red.

It was then that Trex's expression turned for the better.

However, some parts of his body began to break down.

——

*HUUUUUGGHHHH*

With an extreme inhale, Trex woke up in his bed.

Clearly, time had passed as the windows now lacks the light of the bright sun.

Even after resting, Trex still felt hazy.

No matter what he did, he seems to fail in constructing thoughts.

*Gruuuuu*

The moment his stomach grumbled, his thoughts began to fall in place.

"Hu… hungry," he murmured.

Like a robot, Trex stood up. Slowly, his brain worked its magic and finally noticed how his nose had been twitching.

A warm scent filled his nose. Looking at his desk, he saw a steaming bowl of soup under a small wooden plate that seems to continuously heat the food.

Trex mindlessly sat down on his desk and began to eat.

——

Back in the dark place, Trex's chede body remained sleeping, but his gentle floating had long gone replaced by the same movements he's currently doing in the real world.

At this moment, Jonathan opened his eyes. After staring at Trex for a good minute, a green light moved from him towards Trex.

The parts of his body that broke began to regenerate. However, Jonathan and the six other mercenaries began to glow dimmer. It was so minuscule that the naked eye wouldn't be able to see it, but the cables connected to Trex shrunk in diameter by .1%.

Within Trex's mind, the three who tried to attack Trex had wholly lost their memories and personalities inside his head, but he retained their knowledge and skills. Meanwhile, he lost the other's knowledge and skills, but even so, the memories and personalities remained intact. Except for Jonathan, whose all four remain perfectly fine in Trex's head.

Seeing as Trex regenerated, Jonathan once again closed his eyes.

——

As Trex kept robotically eating the soup with no emotions, a sudden jolt in his head almost made him choke.

Coughing while hitting his chest, he tried to regain his breathing.

It was only then that Trex finally woke up.

With heavy breathing, he scoured his surroundings.

'Where am I?'

Then, his innocent eyes shined as he realized where he was. Seeing his new room, he suddenly felt warm.

"What just happened to me?" he thought as he kept staring at the spoon in his hand and the bowl on the table. Splashes of soup visible under the dim light of the room.

Realizing this, Trex turned up the light.

Behind the bowl is a yellow note.

'Son don't worry I've taken care of the mercenaries coalition. I'll have a surprise for you tomorrow morning. Please try to rest for now. - Mum'

For a normal mother, she would've most likely stayed by his son's side throughout the morning, but Eliza is anything but normal. Her entire family had been arcanist for three generations now. Something like a head smashing migraine is expected, especially for someone who had been recently in an accident. While she's worried, she understood that there's nothing she can do. Especially when she already tried multiple times.

Of course, this was also due to doctor Sherman's repeated nagging that its normal and might be good for her son as he could remember his lost memories.

With that, she felt her worries go away and got happier and excited instead.

Staring at the note, Trex couldn't help but feel thankful.

With all the secrets he held, it would've been harder to hide with a super caring mother. Especially when she's involved with the study of law.

Shaking his head, he muttered, "my second day, huh."

Trex reminded himself. With everything that has happened on his first day, he would've imagined months had passed.

Starting from the possible betrayal of OS to the assimilation of ten people's being, visiting the scary doctor, learning about the arcade realm and wishes. It was almost as if days are twice as long in this world.

Alarmed, he checked his smart mind only to remember that it was still off.

'I should go back to arcade realm.'

——

Moments later and Trex opened his eyes.

After configuring the operating system of the new smart mind, he began to wonder if he could use it in the real world.

(AN: I'm still using the term 'real world' here because Trex has no idea about the planet's name.)

After a few experiments, he realized that he could simply transport items from the arcade realm to the real world using the admin HUD.

In exchange for his personal mana, he could place the item in his admin inventory to his user inventory.

At first, he wasn't sure if it would work, but when he got back to the real world, he managed to open up his heads-up display (HUD).

However, it was different compared to his HUD when he's in the arcade realm.

On the upper right is the battery sign. Besides, it is a network logo with full bars. Neither the two symbols have any explanation, but both are currently full.

On the lower right are a set of greyed-out icons except for one that depicts a backpack, the inventory.

Opening the tab, a game-like interface appeared where a matrix of boxes is aligned neatly. On the very first box is an icon of the smart mind.

In contrast to what he believed, no matter how he focused on the box, no explanations appeared. Like a trooper, he dragged the item box outside the inventory window, and a ghost-like item appeared in front of him.

No matter where he moved his head, the item moves too, except when it collides to matter, such as the desk. Like catching a fly, Trex swipes his hands towards the transparent smart mind.
