28 Whispers of Cherry Blossoms

--- Masaya Kaburagi's POV ---

How do we define "talent"?

Many might offer a swift answer, contending that talent is the spark that ignites one's brilliance, or perhaps, that it's an innate quality shared by all humans in varying forms. It's the very attribute that tends to breed comparisons, much like a fish's inability to tread on land, yet its effortless grace in the water.

In the realm of human psychology, such arguments hold their own validity.

But in my own view, talent is merely a conduit for an individual to harvest wealth. When one nurtures their talents, they pave the way for financial gain.

Mind you, I'm not suggesting that all forms of talent are innately profit-seeking. Yet in our society, consider who typically attains the greatest success. Is it those who wield seemingly frivolous talents of little tangible worth, or, for example, individuals in the Entertainment industry whose mere presence can generate millions of dollars, if they are talented enough?

As a seasoned expert in this field, I've assumed the mantle of assessing and appraising people's talents, at times encountering prodigious youths, seemingly fruitless talents, and those I initially regarded as mere mediocrity who evolved into goldmines.

A multitude of shrewd individuals have wished to exploit my own talent, and I've welcomed such valuable opportunities, for they understand that I only entertain deals that favor me, thereby ensuring my pockets have always been handsomely filled.

The question of whether they've engaged in morally questionable tactics is of little concern, so long as I remain uninvolved.

Thus, I've amassed substantial wealth over time. And yet, an irresistible allure tugs at me, compelling me toward increasingly audacious moneymaking ventures, within legal boundaries, of course...

I do not wish to go to jail because I was too greedy, after all.

Perhaps I revel in the entire process, or perhaps I do not.

Such intricate thoughts are not my present preoccupation, though.

What perplexes me is how this young man adopts the demeanor of a seasoned veteran who has traversed this field for decades.

I consider myself a veteran, yet it feels as though I stand beside someone of markedly higher stature. How is that possible?

While I've long regarded everyone as pawns on my board to play with, tools for financial conquest, this reversal of roles feels strangely disconcerting.

Nonetheless, I am no fool. I can faintly smell it— the scent of a colossal fortune looming on the horizon.

Should I follow what this young man has laid out, it promises untold success.

His reputation is just way too high at the moment. There is not a single person who can go against him without being completely shunned and treated like an outcast at this point.

This is why, I've decided to keep an eye on him, to decide if it was a good opportunity for me to create more money, or if the snake I knew was hiding behind this man was a poisonous one.

It's not like even if your reputation is like his, no one would ever doubt.

Is he truly as they paint him? Isn't this some good manipulation of media?

And after meeting him, I can confirm it, he is one of the monsters that can shake everything around them with ease...

While these thoughts clouded my mind, I was now seated in my office, fixing my gaze upon the "show" he was talking about.

Not many people know of this, as I was considering scrapping it.

Yet... for him to be this interested, he must be confident...

Plot:

Amidst the turbulent backdrop of feudal Japan, where ambition and conquest cast long shadows over a land marked by wars and lust, emerges a story of unyielding resolve and a noble soul determined to defy the dark tides of history.

In an era when many warlords succumb to the seduction of power and the insatiable hunger for control, there stands a man apart, Lord Kioshi Ozuru. His wisdom transcends the age-old adage that power corrupts, for he understands the perilous path of greed all too well.

"Excessive ambition leads only to ruin."

Spoken by his father on his own deathbed, these words truly stuck a chord with him.

Lord Kioshi embarks on a quest to protect his people and his soul from the consuming fires of desire and conquest.

Yet, as the fervor of youth beckons and personal desires stir, the fate of a nation teeters on the precipice. Will Lord Kioshi's noble ideals stand firm, or will the intoxicating allure of power, love, and ambition ensnare him in the very web he vowed to evade?

In "Whispers of Cherry Blossoms," discover a tale of honor, love, and the relentless struggle of a man against the turbulent currents of his time.

It's absolutely dreadful, I can't believe we're seriously going through with this...

I mean, come on, the protagonist boldly proclaiming he'll 'never fall' is practically hoisting a flag that screams, 'Watch me fall spectacularly!'

That's precisely why I find this proposal a tad unexciting.

I'm left pondering, what on earth was going through the scriptwriter's mind?

It's not just a matter of finding top-tier actors; they need to embody their roles flawlessly. Why, you ask? Because if this isn't executed with utmost finesse, there's no redemption. It's not like we already have a dedicated fan base clamoring for this project or anything.

If this doesn't work out, it's bound to be a complete flop. That's why I entertained the notion of scrapping it altogether.

But, there's a twist. I'm willing to take this gamble, something I'd typically avoid like the plague. Do you know why? That kid promised me a truckload of cash, and, well, my gut tells me... this might just turn out alright.

If it doesn't... I'll just consider it me getting senile ahead of time and forget it.

Author's Note:

This Author is ashamed of not being alive for weeks. I am guilty. Please punish me.

Anyways, remember. No death until this and Danmachi's novel are done, at least.

Tip: Try to think of that Unofficial document as some really huge ass shit that would've been way harder to explain if I did not convert it into something more gamey-like. It's not actually how it looks like IRL, just how I had to adjust it.
