Chapter 49: Dehya, if you like the Master, why hide it?
Because of Dehya, Ye Xi decided to decline Jeht proposal.
"Then I'll dance for the Master~" Jeht offered, not wanting Ye Xi to feel bored.
After all, she was the one who suggested coming to the desert. If Ye Xi indulged her whim once again, she was willing to give her all to please him. As long as it made Ye Xi happy, her pride was secondary.
So, she began to dance to lift Ye Xi's spirits.
Ye Xi nodded, eager to watch her dance. Although Jeht dancing style wasn't as artistic as Nilou's, it had a lively energy that left a lasting impression.
Even after watching Nilou's dance several times, the most memorable detail might only be her captivating gaze. But with Jeht dance, each move remained clear in his memory.
As Jeht danced, however, a familiar tune played in his mind. Perhaps from watching too many performances in Xingyin, he felt like the melody was engraved in his DNA!
Before long, the howling wind outside finally subsided, and the dust storm dissipated.
Ye Xi set off again with Dehya and Jeht.
After a brief walk, they reached Achmal's Beard's camp.
"Looks like we're in luck—it's that camp!" Dehya said, jumping off the guard's hand. "Ye Xi, Jeht, wait for me here!"
Then, she walked towards the camp alone.
"Jeht, let's go too," Ye Xi said, aware of Dehya fiery temperament, which would likely lead to a fight. He preferred not to waste time on unnecessary conflicts.
"Dehya!? Why are you here?" The mercenaries were startled when they saw Dehya approach.
She had left previously because of her disapproval of the group's actions. Seeing her return, they immediately grew wary.
"Dehya, you know these people?" Jeht asked, noticing their sudden tension and rushing to intervene.
Dehya regained her composure. "Bashar, I'm not here to fight."
"Get Kusela! I need to see him."
"I already know about… the incident," Dehya added.
Though she knew about the incident, that didn't mean everyone involved was trustworthy. For all she knew, they could be just as dubious as others under the King of Gods' legacy.
"You… you know everything?" Bashar asked, hesitantly.
"The leader didn't want you involved in all this."
Upon hearing her, Bashar signaled the others to relax.
He stepped forward and explained, "The leader went out today and hasn't returned yet."
"Don't lie to me!" Dehya demanded.
"I'm telling the truth!" Bashar insisted.
"It seems you'll only be honest after a good beating!" Dehya clenched her fists, preparing for a fight.
Ye Xi placed a hand on Dehya shoulder. "Don't be rash. Let me handle this."
He remembered clearly that, given the current timeline, Dehya father, Kusela, should have passed away long ago. If Bashar was telling the truth, then it might be a miracle, a glimmer of hope!
"You managed to calm the Lion with the Blazing Mane? Are you… Dehya man?" Bashar asked, stunned.
He and the others had known Dehya since she was young. Back then, she was adorable, and her father, Kusela, would often share tales of heroes saving the world.
As she grew older, her cute side faded, replaced by a fierce personality. She became a bold fighter, willing to take down anyone who stood in her way.
For them, this was the first time they'd seen the grown-up Dehya being calmed by someone.
"Hey! Watch what you're saying!" Dehya snapped, casting a flustered glance at Ye Xi.
Seeing her reaction, Bashar smirked. "Let's let the men talk! Dehya, just sit back and watch!"
Laughter erupted around them.
"Alright, let's not waste time," Ye Xi said, holding Dehya back from reacting further. He then asked, "Did Kusela say anything strange to you before he left?"
"Huh? How did you know?"
Idrissi looked surprised, nodded, and said, "Recently, the leader has been very weak. He said he was going to the headquarters. I thought he would be beaten again because he couldn't pay the money."
"I even offered to take the position of head of the regiment and take the blame."
"In the end, what he said was unnecessary. He said that Achmal's Beard would be disbanded soon."
"Everyone's case files are in the hands of the headquarters. How can they just break up?"
Ye Xi's expression turned serious when he heard this.
Sure enough, as he had expected.
At this point, Dehya and Jeht also noticed something was wrong.
"Dehya, if Kusela intends to destroy everyone's [criminal records], it will be dangerous!"
Jeht words made everyone's expressions change.
"What did you say?!"
"Captain, is he really…"
"Think about it carefully. As long as everyone's criminal record is gone, of course they will be disbanded!"
"Oops! Why didn't I realize that at the time!"
Idrissi was shocked. "The leader's expression at that time really did have that meaning!"
"He doesn't want to be a hero; he wants to sacrifice himself to let everyone be free!"
Dehya was stunned for a moment.
The sudden change caught her off guard.
That old man, who used to tell embarrassing stories about "heroes saving the world" every day, wants to go to the headquarters alone to destroy the "criminal record" for everyone!?
"Dehya."
"Eh?"
Suddenly, she felt a strong and warm feeling wrapping her hand.
She looked aside and saw Ye Xi looking at her.
"Let's go."
Before she could react, she was pulled by the man in front of her and left the camp.
Dehya felt a little dazed, as if she was drunk.
Her mind was in a mess.
For a while, it was the memories of childhood; for a while, it was the scene of the mercenaries burning, killing, and looting in the Legacy of the God King; then it was the image of her father lying in a pool of blood.
When she regained her senses, she found herself sitting on the hands of the ruin guard.
"Jeht, where is the headquarters of the Legacy of the God King?"
"Near the Epiphany Hall."
Ye Xi stood aside, opened the map, and after confirming the direction, he controlled the relic guards to begin moving forward.
Dehya was at a loss. "Can my father still be saved?"
Jeht lowered her head. "There are many people in the headquarters, and many experts."
"Kusela may not even be able to get close to the archives if he has limited mobility."
"Even if he really destroys the file, the people at the headquarters won't let him go…"
Not all the Legacy of the God Kings are weak like Hamzah.
Although Jeht is one of the best in the Legacy of the God King, her ranking is based on her personal combat power.
If you count those guys who can manipulate crocodiles and birds as combat companions, she'll have to fight for a long time.
Hearing what Jeht said, Dehya mind went blank, and her mind was filled with memories of Kusela's storytelling when she was a child.
Ye Xi placed his hand on Dehya shoulder and used his ability to force calm.
In an instant, Dehya felt completely awake.
It was like suddenly waking up from alcohol, and her body regained control!
Those untimely memories disappeared suddenly, and they would no longer be a distraction.
"Dehya, I'm going to save your father now, don't be in a daze."
Hearing the steady voice from beside her ear, Dehya felt unprecedentedly at ease.
She glanced back at Ye Xi, and her eyes suddenly became firm. "Don't worry! I'm not in a daze!"
"In a while, I'm going to the Legacy of the God King, and I'll kill everything in my path!"
Seeing that Dehya regained her spirits, Ye Xi withdrew his hand.
But at that moment, Dehya suddenly leaned forward and put her pretty face on his hand.
"Thank you, Ye Xi."
In just a moment, Dehya let him go, put on a fighting spirit, and shouted to the front, "Kusela, you still want to be a hero! If you don't have that ability, go home and stay!"
"Hero, it should be me!"
Jeht crossed her arms and snorted, "Dehya, if you like the master, why bother hiding it?"
"Ahem..."
Dehya pointed to the huge ruins in front of them and said, "The Legacy of the God King has arrived! If you're slow in a while, don't blame me if Mishal gets killed!"
"How dare you! Mishal must be mine!"
