18 Heaven’s Ascent

Jiang Chen sat on the demonic beast for what seemed like 3 days. He couldn't really tell because he had his eyes shut the entire time. Constantly cultivating was the sign of a good cultivator as most elders would say. The rest of the people were too quiet that Jiang Chen could have mistaken himself to be the only one on the demonic beast. However, Jiang Chen had been thinking about the events for the past few days. The map that was still fresh in his mind made him think about something. Jiang Chen wondered if this wasn't a new world and just him in the past.

"We're here."

The head master's beautiful voice came into Jiang Chen's mind. The demonic beast landed in an open arena like the ones that gladiator fought at. A long staircase spiraling up into the clouds and many people were looking where the interception is.

"Where are we?"

"This is the stage where the event will take place, The Cultivator's Forge! Many people who participate in the events that happen here become great heroes "

Many people were gathering around the arena after Jiang Chen asked. Many came by using the front entrance and few came by demonic beasts from the sky. People were wondering if they are gonna be the first one to climb to the top.

"I suggest you prepare what you have before it starts."

She turned around and looked at the group before walking off to leave them alone. Jiang Chen just rested in the corner and closed his eyes. Before long, a really old voice enveloped the entire arena.

"It all started with one person.....Then it became a group.....and now finally it has become a force that populates this world. As the event host, I am proud to announce the start of Heaven's Ascent. Please line up at the base of the tower to start the event."

"I heard that this voice belongs to the last surviving ancient cultivator that was part of the group."

"Many people say that he already left and ascended into the higher heavens. He left a part of his soul just so he can watch us even though he is not here."

"I finally get to hear his majestic voice! I've been dreaming for a long time to hear his voice."

Talking broke out and people started to get up and crowded the tower. An invisible barrier prevented anyone from stepping onto the first step.

Boom!

As soon as the majority of the people in the arena were near the tower, a sound came from the first step. Cracks appeared in the air as it shattered into a thousand pieces. Surprisingly, when any of the pieces touched the people in the front, it just phased through them. The moment that they recovered from their initial shock, people started to rush up the tower.

"Hurry!!"

"Get out of my way!"

People were pushing each other and shoving others out of the way. Jiang Chen stood there acting as if nothing was happening. The moment the people stepped onto the first step, the number of people were cut off by a half.

"System, I would like to purchase an elevator."

People at the judge booth were all looking at Jiang Chen. Most of the people at the booth were either people with high status and/or powerful. Now, most people in the booth were laughing and thought that Jiang Chen was paralyzed from the shock.
