180 Chapter – 180 (Underwater Battle(Part - 2))

Ais kept on fighting these Mermen for hours. However, they just kept on coming non-stop. The water had already turned dirty with the blood and the sever parts of Mermen. She was reaching her limit again. Going with the flow to move in water might work well if she was facing few monsters. But if there were hundreds of them and it became extremely difficult.

'Ais: Not good. Not only I am reaching the limit of holding my breath but also the water had become so dirty that I am having hard time to see clearly.'

'Ais: Lord, already told me to use magic on my eyes to see in water but I haven't learned that yet.'

Ais raised her leg to kick it, but Merman Leader took some distance and dodge it.

Since the distance from which it attacked was not far, it didn't get much rush speed boost like before. Hence, Ais was able to parry it this time. After parrying the attack when she was about to attack again...…

'Ais: Tch.'

Another Merman attacked to protect its leader. As a result, she had no choice but to stop her attack on Merman Leader and face the upcoming attack.

Ais kept on fighting the Merman Leader non-stop. Whenever, she found a chance to kill it, some Merman interfered and sacrificed itself to protect the leader. Then situation became even more severe.

Ais hurriedly blocked the attack which came towards her back with astounding speed. Because she was still fighting Merman Leader, she failed to put much strength into blocking that attack which she threw her away. When Ais stabilized herself, she saw what just attacked her.

'Ais: Another Merman Leader. Huh. Does this mean?'

She looked around and realized that she was now surrounded by thousands of Mermen with tens of Merman Leader. Not only that, behind them she also saw many other water monsters. They all were looking at her like a prey. Currently, all the monsters inside the water had surrounded Ais. Although, she can't see all of them because the water had become very dirty at this point. She could still saw the pairs of their glowing eyes.

Ais looked at all of them and...

'Ais: Arielle.'

WHISTLE!!!!

'Ais: Huh?'

In the next instant, Ais found herself again falling from sky.

'Ais: Wha? What just happene----'

SPLASH!!!!

Holding her breath at the last moment, Ais fell into water.

SLASH!!!

SPLURT!!!!

A slash and the Merman which was again coming to grab her leg died. Ais ignored its corpse and showed a confused expression.

'Ais: Just how come I return to when I was falling. I didn't die last time.'

As Ais went more into thoughts, more Mermen started to approach.

Since there were not many Mermen yet and the water was still clean, Ais killed them casually while still being in thoughts. Then she came to two conclusions.

'Ais: The reason why I start over again without dying could be because of two reasons. First, the monsters were just too much. But even if they were, I still have confidence on taking them down. Though, it would have taken a lot of time. Second, I used "Arielle". Could it be that I am not allowed to use it?'

She gave it more thought while killing the Mermen that were attacking her.

Previous after fighting for hours, Ais had somehow got the hang of fighting underwater. She was still not expert, but she still got some experience by now. After thinking for some time, she still came to same conclusion.

'Ais: Although, I am 90% sure now since I couldn't find any reasonable reason. Let's try.'

'Ais: Arielle.'

'Ais: So, I was right.'

Looking at the old familiar sky while falling into water. Ais confirmed her reasoning.

After killing the disturbers, Ais gave it some more thought. She then brought her left-hand in front and tried to use wind magic instead of the using "Arielle". Wind started to gather in Ais's hand and the water around it was pushed back. Now there was no water around her hand.

'Ais: This must be reason. My wind is pushing back the water. If I use "Arielle" then all the water around will be pushed back too. Then it will no longer be underwater battle. Hmm.'

'Ais: From what I know, if you use wind magic in water that instead of pushing it away, it will merge with water an create hurricane. Then why is my wind pushing water back completely. Let's see.'

After thinking for some more time while not only killing mermen but also using wind magic few more time, she finally understood.

'Ais: I understand. Whenever I saw Riveria using wind or any other type of magic, she gathered the elements from all around. In my case, my wind magic is being released from my body itself. Hence, it was pushing the water away instead of combining with it.'

'Ais: If that's the reason then in order to use "Arielle" in water, I need to make my wind merge with water. And it will take time since I have no idea how to do it.'

'Ais: And these monsters won't give time to try it either.'

Ais looked at the Mermen which were approaching from some distance. She could also see Merman Leader between them.

'Ais: No matter where I go, they will follow. That's what happened last time. I need to take some distance. But how?'

Ais saw that she was completely surrounded by the Mermen. Thus, maintaining distance is not possible.

Drawing her azure "Lambent Light", she prepared herself for the attack of Merman like before. However, this time, it didn't come. Ais looked down and saw a Merman passing by without even looking up at her.

'Ais: It can't see me. No. It will be more correct to say it can't sense me like before.'

Then Ais tried to follow that, Merman. Considering it was not moving fast, Ais was able to follow it without much problem. However, when she reached the distance of 5 meters between them. That Merman turned around and saw Ais. Next, it roared and rushed at her.

Ais startled. Nonetheless, she didn't put "Lambent Light" back to its scabbard, so it was still in her hand.

The Merman was cut into two from its head to its crotch. It's blood then started to dissolve into the water while its body parts were still floating. Ais frowned and turned. She saw that many monsters had turned their eyes at this direction. Without thinking too much she left the area.

Seeing the monsters coming at her front, Ais readied herself. Yet, when she was about to attack, those monsters separated in two and rushed past her. Completely ignoring her. Ais turned and saw that all those monsters were rushing towards the split body of the Merman. They reached it they started to devour it.

Ais decided to take some distance first. When she was 100 meters away, she looked at scene again. By now, that corpse of the Merman had been completely eaten by the monsters. Though, when those monsters were about to leave...

Many Mermen reached them and started to kill the monsters who devoured the corpse. One by one all those monsters were killed and the remaining one escaped as fast as they could. Then those Mermen started to feast on the monsters they killed.

'Ais: Hmm. They only attacked those who ate its kin and ignored others. Now that I think about it, Merman are the strongest monsters in Water City. So, to them other monsters must be inferior. How could they let some inferior beings eat their kin.'

Survival of the fittest is common everywhere. If you are a king then even if steal the things of a Noble in front of his very own eyes, the only thing it could do was to show a smile. On the other hand, in case you are civilian or lower in rank then even if you try to take the cheapest thing of that Noble. He will make you pay for it severely.

Before thinking about her next move, Ais tried to do something. This time she again tried to approach a lone Merman. It ignored her at first. However, when she reached 5 meters in distance again, it attacked.

After killing it, she hurriedly left before other monsters and Mermen arrived there. Next, she tried to approach another monster which was not the Merman. That monster ignored her too at first. In this case, even when reached 1 meter near it, it still ignored her. Though when she tried to touch it, it was then it attacked.

She then tired to approach other monsters one by one. As a result, all monsters except Mermen ignored her until she tried to touch them. She understood a lot of things. Now she tired something else. She found a monster swimming near a Merman. The distance between them was 15 meters or so. She approached the monster, grabbed it, and threw it hurriedly towards Merman direction before the monster could attack her.

WHOOSH!!!!

The monster was reaching Merman at an astounding speed. Merman ignored it like it did to Ais. However, just like Ais when the monster reached 5 meters of the distance, Merman turned towards the monster and rushed towards it. It caught it with its frilled hands and started to chomp on it.

Seeing this, Ais nodded and rushed towards the surface to catch her breath again.

SPLASH!!!

Ais: Now I can think of my next move.
