1 Prologue

In an average single bedroom apartment, filled with video game and anime memorabilia, sits Roy Palmer. Once upon a time, an up and coming steamer with his whole future ahead of him; now in his late 30's and enjoying a quiet morning playing video games on his PC.

"FUCK OFF! I TOTALLY GOT THAT HEADSHOT ON YOU!" screamed our overenthusiastic protagonist.

"Heh, yeah right Roy-Boy." Mocked an old friend over their discord call.

"That was just lag, lets go again." Roy complained making a baseless excuse.

"Lag my ass! We both have gigabit internet and you're hosting dumbass, hehehe…" Stated his old friend continuing to rile Roy.

"Fine, so are we going another round or what?" Roy asked getting more irritated.

"As much as I would LOVE to keep crushing your spirit, I gotta get off and spend some time with the kiddos." His old friend who has long since settled down to start a family said nonchalantly to the single and lonely Roy.

Hiding this feeling deep down, Roy replied with a simple, "Alrighty man I'll talk to you later." Before logging off and shutting down his computer.

"Haaaaaah, sometimes I really regret my life decisions…" contemplated Roy as he stood up from his chair. He slowly walked over to the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for the day.

Stepping in front of the mirror to brush his teeth, he looked at his muscular body, commenting to himself, "At least I can be proud of myself for keeping in shape all these years… I don't even want to imagine what that hellish trainer would say to me if she saw that I didn't hahaha."

Feeling nostalgic for some reason, he decided to look at his old photos and knickknacks he had collected over the years.

"My first day streaming… One viewer that ended up being my mom…. But it was thanks to her that I was able to hold out for a whole year until my platform started to grow. Thanks for the courage you gave me mom, I miss you…" Roy longingly looked at the photo of his deceased mother with love and respect to the woman who raised him.

Looking a bit to the right he saw a 3D printed character from one of his favorite games. "This little 3D printed trinket from my first convention, God that was a blast."

Walking a bit down his apartment he noticed a dragon bone helmet replica based off his favorite series Elder Scrolls. Giving him a warm smile at the great memories they brought to him.

Slightly turning his head that smile immediately got wiped off his face as he saw the picture of himself in a headlock with his old PT, he liked to call Hell's General, Clara. As much pain as she put him through, she taught him just as much. He learned all the best methods to work out and eat healthy to stay in shape. With that ingrained fear of her propelling his lazy ass nearly 20 years of a healthy lifestyle, or at least as healthy as someone who plays games 80% of his waking moments could be.

As he continued down memory lane, he started to get a strange feeling in his chest. He looked at his wristwatch and saw that his heartbeat was normal, so he decided to chalk it up to gas.

A few minutes later, when he reached his old video games shelf he began to sweat profusely. Finally realizing something was wrong, he grabbed his coat and keys and began walking to the front door to head over to the ER. Sadly, he would never make it to the ER, much less the front door, as he collapsed on the ground. Every muscle in his body began painfully spasming before it abruptly stopped, the light in his eyes fading out as foam slowly leaked from his mouth.

Roy Palmer, retired streamer, died quietly in his home at the age 36.

*Blargh* *cough* *cough*

"SIR! Are you okay?!" Asked a young-looking Apprentice Wizard, dressed in a finely made satin robe.

"Yes, yes, I'm quite alright Samuel!" Said the aged Court Wizard, wiping the hint of vomit off the corner of his mouth as he inspected his beautiful satin robe laced with runes.

"And it seems my robe is as well! Hahaha!" The Court Wizard mused as eyes gleamed with satisfaction at his Magnum Opus.

"Does that mean the summoning was a success sir?" Asked Samuel, quizzically staring at the eccentric old man in front of him, who had just succeeded in something that should not be possible by the inhabitants of this tiny, young planet.

"In a way yes, though not like we had hoped… It seems the spell matrices succeeded in finding the most suitable candidate, but I could only summon the soul. Their world had yet to be blessed by mana, meaning the incorporeal soul could handle the journey, but the body could not. Poor lad's body ended up rejecting the mana, most likely causing him a quite excruciating death." The Court Wizard said nonchalantly as usual, causing Samuel to unconsciously cold sweat as a shiver went down his spine.

"H-How wonderful sir, seems we might just have a chance after all…" Samuel forced out while giving the best smile he could fake in this moment. 'Poor Bastard, hopefully you were unconscious at the time.' Samuel thought, before realizing something important.

"Oh no sir! What are we going to do if he doesn't have a body?!" Samuel screamed, extremely worried now for several reasons.

"Very true Samuel. Though we also don't have time to wait for that person to mature from an infant, not to mention his memories would be wiped as well…" Pondered the Court Wizard as an idea popped into his head.

"HAHAHA! It seems there is a way to achieve my dreams after all Samuel!" Screamed the Court Wizard in pure excitement and fanaticism.

"…Sir?" Queried Samuel hesitantly.

"Go to the king quickly and inform him that we have succeeded the first half but need the National Treasure to complete the ritual!" Proclaimed the Court Wizard.

"Sir, do you mean Anima Praesidium?!" Wondrously asked the young Apprentice Wizard.

"Indeed, we can bind it to his soul! This would protect him during reincarnation and bind his soul to our planet as well. This would effectively make him one of us with the memories of his past life intact! Although the body he will receive on reincarnating is up to fate, we can only hope that he gains the body of a monster and evolves fast enough to mature. Now hurry Samuel, his soul will arrive soon, and I must be ready to 'catch' it!" Explained the Court Wizard hurriedly.

"Y-Yes sir!" Screamed Samuel as he ran towards the king's chambers frantically.

{Info}

[Anima Praesidium] A national treasure, typically used by the ruler of this nation before their death, it wraps the soul in a protective coat that allows it to smoothly transition into the cycle of reincarnation, no matter the soul's purity. This would essentially give these rulers a second chance at life without their memories but would also allow their souls to avoid 'The Cleansing'.

In this case the eccentric Court Wizard wishes to use the treasure itself to protect Roy's soul and bind it to their planet at the same time. Essentially making Roy a full-fledged resident, which brings along both benefits and negatives.

[The Cleansing] The souls of mortals are easily influenced by their actions in life, the more atrocities a person commits, either minor or major, the less pure their soul becomes. At the end of a mortal's life their soul is taken through multiple steps before being sent to reincarnate. The first step is the cleansing, which essentially washes the impurities in the soul away. Though souls that are too impure would simply be discarded. Typically, the effect of Anima Praesidium would wear off after this and the memories of the person would be wiped by the next step of the process. Over the centuries this has become more of a ritual for the mortals of the kingdom, allowing their ruler's souls to pass through the cycle without risk of disposal as thanks for their efforts to make the kingdom prosper.
