Title: The Apex Alpha

Summary:

Seth was a legendary assassin with metahuman abilities. He was so feared that a country was willing to risk sending all of their metahumans as well as the many metahuman mercenaries they hired in order to bring him down after he killed several political leaders and their families.

After killing several thousand metahumans, Seth was finally brought down. But he was fine with it. He knew that with all the damage that he had caused, he would eventually be killed. And he was prepared for his death and he regretted nothing.

What he was not prepared for though, was what came after.

Hmmm. Death has relieved me of all this pain that all those bastards had caused me. The only thing I am disappointed about is not being able to spend all that money I made.

What is that light? I know that I would not head to heaven and there is too little cackling for hell. Where am I?

I've been reincarnated? Interesting! I read novels about that when I was younger but never expected it to be true. Wait. What? What happened to my reincarnation and golden finger?

Chapter 1: The Prologue

A figure stood atop a hill while being covered in injuries as his silver hair flew about in the wind. In his left hand was a red and black sword while his right hand held a grey axe. Even injured and tired, his handsome features still stood out.

Floating all around him or standing on various parts of the hill below were many other people. Some with supernatural phenomena happening around them such as lightning surrounded their body or colorful wind surrounding them while others just floated there.

Many of them were injured as well but no one was as injured as the silver-haired man. But around those standing and floating figures were many dead bodies that had various states of damage. The most common injury of them all was shrapnel that seemed to be inside almost all of the dead bodies.

Seeing that he was surrounded and feeling the life slip out of him, the silver-haired man let out a self-pitying laugh as he scanned all the faces around him. Some were enemies that had managed to escape in the past, some were relatives of those he had killed, and the majority had simply heard of his deeds and allied with the others to bring him down.

The silver-haired man was known as Seth Jackson or Apex or, as most called him, the Silver Berserker. He was one of the 3 most notorious and dangerous assassins in the world. The number of people he had killed was in the millions due to his savage and merciless nature. He would not hesitate to destroy several entire buildings of innocent civilians just to create a distraction so he could kill his target in another country.

Daren/Doom, one of the leading figures of those sent to hunt down Seth, had lost one of his eyes in the battle with the legendary assassin. He was a high-tier Alpha. Even still, he had a proud smile on his face when he thought that the group had managed to corner him.

"You have killed a few hundred of us today and injured another few hundred. But now, we are finally going to kill you and bring about peace."

This was actually false. Seth had killed at least 50,000 metahumans during the 3 days of battle and injured a few hundreds of thousands. This was not simply a few heroes creating an alliance but the combined might of almost every hero and many mercenaries in the country of Elina, Liruk, and Murakami.

Everyone knew it was false. They had no idea whether he was trying to sully Seth's reputation or increase his own prestige but no one bought it or said anything. Seth laughed when he heard Doom's words. It was a chilling laugh that made everyone who heard it nervous. Without saying another word, they silently decided to kill him and not give him any other chances to counter-attack.

As much as he wanted to resist, there was nothing he could do. He had given him all earlier and he was completely exhausted. As the attacks and blows rained down on him, he gave one final act of defiance. He summoned the weapons in his hands back to his armory so that no one would be able to use them even after his death.

Seeing the weapons disappear, Doom let out a shout of frustration as a beam of light shot toward Seth and pierced through his skull, killing him in a single blow before another creating a gravitational singularity in his chest, ripping him apart from his core and leaving nothing left.

While the alliance celebrated, they could not help but mourn their losses. They had lost so many low-tier and mid-tier alphas through the battle with even more having long-term or permanent injuries from the battle.

Seth felt all the pain leave his body as the light faded from his eyes. But this was not the end of him.

--Earth, Country X, Year 2012--

Seth opened his eyes and saw nothing but darkness at first. But soon, he could tell that he was in some sort of space. There were walls like a room but the room gave off a similar feeling like when he used his dagger. It felt like it was made of soul or mental energy.

There was a large bookshelf that took up an entire wall while it was occupied with several books on its top-shelf. In the middle of the room was a mat with a small device in front of it.

Curious about what the screen held, Seth walked over to the mat and sat down before studying the device. It seemed like a glass orb that fused with a small, blue podium. Seth could not see anything in the orb after observing it for several minutes.

'Not a crystal ball that psychics use. I'll continue playing around with this after I check on my body and weapons.'

Seth started looking over his body to see if anything was missing but his body was confusing. It seemed like he was normal and had on the clothes he did before he died but there was not a scratch or bloodstain on him or the clothes as if the battle that killed him never happened.

The only thing new was the marking on his right hand. It had the number 9 on it. Seth tried to wipe it off but nothing happened. He decided to ignore it in the meantime.

'I don't feel... full? Whole? Not sure which word to use. It just seems like I am missing something. So my guess that I am in a soul space or mind space should not be far off.

Maybe I am in a new body and have yet to properly fuse my soul with my new body. Or I am in the afterlife and still waiting to be born.'

He then tried to summon his weapons. Seth was only able to summon 7 but those seven were enough to make him darkly laugh when they appeared. These were his 7 most powerful and most feared weapons that he had and why he had become such a legend.

Seth did not have the most powerful metahuman ability and was actually only classified as a tier-1 user at first. It was years later that his true worth was discovered by the association too late and they reclassified him as a tier-9. Seth's ability was three parts:

1st: He could mark weapons. He could only mark premodern weapons though and nothing that used gun powder, energy cells, or other similar features.

2nd: Any weapon that he marked, he could story in a separate dimension as well as summon them as long as they were not damaged beyond a certain point.

3rd. Any weapon that he had marked could be controlled with his mind and as if they were an extension of him.

Everyone thought he could only use the first part of the ability which made him a tier-1. When others found out about the second part of the ability, he was made as a tier-3. When they found out about the third part of the ability, he was marked as tier-5. And when they saw thousands of weapons killing an entire military base by chasing down and hunting everyone he saw, he was made a tier-7.

These powers were dangerous but it was his 7 legendary items that truly made him famous and considered a tier-9. He had found those 7 weapons in an abandoned ruin when he was on the run from several powerful heroes.

Each of these weapons was not only top quality but also granted Seth a special power which is why he named himself Apex. Even one of these weapons could make someone be at least a tier-4 threat. Having all 7 in one's possession made them a tier-7. But with Seth's ability to use them all at once and to their fullest power, he became a tier-9.

So knowing that he had all 7 weapons with him as well as his ability in this new place or wherever he was going, Seth was pleased.

'Looks like I have nothing to fear. I need to slowly build up my collection again but after I do, I will make this place tremble.'

Seth ignored the books and placed his hand on the crystal thinking that it would bring him to his next destination or start the process of fusing his soul with his new body. But it did shock him beyond belief.

When he pressed his hand on the crystal, it was as if his mind was still his own yet it was connected to another person. He could see through that person's eyes, hear through their ears, and feel what their skin felt. He could even read their thoughts.

And the person he was currently connected to, was getting his ass handed to him from what Seth could tell.
