63 Chapter 63: Magic Elements

With their connection established, Mordred was able to feel a connection to Cassandra and was able to tell what she was feeling and where she was. Although he did not know whether that would work at longer ranges, it at least felt similar to his telepathic link with Nyx without actually being able to speak.

After feeling the connection, Mordred began walking towards the canteen. He had not eaten yet and was starting to get hungry.

The little snow woman paused after seeing Mordred walk away before hurrying to catch up and follow behind him. Cassandra looked at Mordred's tall frame from behind with a thousand thoughts going on through her head.

'He really formed a contract with me. A powerful demon who will eventually become a demon lord formed a contract with me of all beings. Even before my cousin.

But why? Is it really because I'm pretty? He did say that he did not need someone strong but smart, but am I really that smart?

And he offered me the position of his left hand. Why would he offer me that just because of my looks?

This guy is weird yet I feel an attraction to him. Like I know he will keep me safe as long as I follow his orders. Or more like, his orders could never be wrong so I should just follow them.

Ugh. This is giving me a headache. What is he thinking?' But no matter how hard she stared, Cassandra would not get her answer just thinking about it.

Mordred could feel the stare on the back of his head but he just ignored it. He knew that his actions may seem strange to others but he did not care. He was someone who did as he pleased without caring about the consequences.

After walking into the canteen and grabbing some food, Mordred still felt the little yuki-onna staring at him. Even as they sat down across from each other and were eating, her eyes never left him.

Mordred let out a sigh and knew that he had to answer some question or at least tell her to stop staring at him. Although he was used to being stared at, at most, it would last a few minutes.

"What?" he asked in a tone devoid of emotions. No matter how irritated he was, Mordred held the belief that subordinates should not be allowed to see what their boss is feeling, at least ones that were not close to them. This was taught to him not by either of his parents but instead by El.

'Now that I think about it, I wonder how much trouble she is having keeping my mother under control. I should probably send them a message sometime soon.'

Cassandra brought him out of his thoughts.

"I was wondering what you are thinking. You have an expression that seems like you know exactly what you want but I don't understand why you want me."

Mordred looked at her as if she was an idiot which made the pale cheeks of Cassandra heat up and turn pink.

"I already told you, I don't need people who are powerful, I need those who are talented. Your species rank was a bonus but I can make a monster even out of a D rank creature.

Your very nature of being cautious and curious about my reasoning is a good proof of why you are a fit for me. I'm sure you have thought of many reasons and have been trying to figure out which one is most likely.

I need someone like you who can think. As for fighting ability, I'll be sure to burn that into your very soul," he ended his words coldly which brought a metaphorical chill to Cassandra's body.

She looked at him puzzled but also relieved.

"Although I don't fully understand, I understand enough that I won't ask any more questions about it and just go with the flow."

The Blue Oni nodded before he continued eating his food. After he was finished, he pulled out the wind core and began pulling mana out of the stone with his eyes closed.

He could 'see' that the mana being pulled out seemed light green in color while giving off an unrestrained but not wild feeling. Similar to a tamed bird, it would fly around as high as it wanted but would not leave its master.

After absorbing from the core for a few minutes and getting used to the feeling of wind mana, Mordred began trying to feel the wind mana in the air.

At first, he could feel nothing. But after sitting there for 5 minutes, he could feel something. But it was not the unrestrained feeling he got from the wind core. There were steel blue and purple lights.

It was 2 different mana types instead. One was more of a relaxing and calming feeling while the other seemed unusual but natural with the feeling they gave off.

Mordred knew that these were the water and arcane elements from their feelings but he had read that they were different colors. While the water was blue, it was normally more of cyan in color while the arcane was pink.

He was more used to abilities in both of these elements compared to the wind element but he did not think he would be able to sense them so easily without getting a feel from their cores.

The Magus serum raised both his water and arcane elements by one grade bringing the water element to the supreme grade and the arcane element to the divine grade.

The Chimera serum granted him the Raiju inner beast which brought his element up by 2 grades and water elements up by a single grade. In total, he only had talent in 3 elements but all had reached the divine grade.

'It must be because they are the divine grade. That probably is why their colors are different. Ignore them for now. I need to sense the wind.'

Trying to filter through the elements was a difficult task. Both seemed more 'dense' than the wind element that he sensed before and it was as if they were surrounding him. He had to put in quite a bit of effort to pull the, green outlined in purple, wind element past the water and arcane particles.

Mordred was so focused on what he was doing, that he was oblivious to what was going on outside of his body and besides that mana particles.
