60 Chapter 60: First Inscriptions Class

But before he could even open the book, he was interrupted by a couple of coughs. Mordred turned and saw that Persephone, Nyx, and Satana were all looking at him while wearing their school uniforms and holding one of his up.

Mordred looked at them puzzled before asking, "What's up? Why did you guys change your uniforms even though it is about to be night?"

"Told ya!" Satana smiled at Persephone who passed over a few coins before looking at Mordred as if he was an idiot.

Mordred had seen that look and similar looks from them before so he had a pretty good idea of what they were going to say but still kept his hopes up.

Nyx felt like she needed to be the one to inform her partner but was a bit ashamed that her master had a strange habit like this.

'I'll need to make sure he doesn't go overboard from now on.' the Storm Harpy mused to herself before telling Mordred that he had been in the library for a week.

"You've had your head buried so deep in those books that you have not realized that so many days have passed. Your first class starts in 30 minutes and it is a 2-hour walk from here."

Mordred's class was on the opposite side of the Inner District. Mordred ignored the part about how far his class was but began cursing himself for getting lost in his books again.

Persephone paused for a moment before she summoned a book out of her storage and threw it toward Mordred.

"Also here! That ditzy teacher returned and gave us our [Contract] ability books. This one is yours."

Mordred caught the book and absorbed it without a second thought. He then took his uniform from Nyx and changed immediately. He was used to changing in front of the group and did not pay it any mind.

Once he was dressed, Nyx and he left the dorm to get to their first class on time. Persephone and Satana's classes started later and were closer so they did not need to leave immediately.

As soon as they were out the door, Nyx took to the sky before wrapping her telekinesis vectors around Mordred's body and carrying him as she flew.

With her high flying speed, while using wind spells to boost it, the pair arrived a few minutes early to the class and landed outside the field a large gazebo next to it.

Basic Inscriptions class was a class that took place outdoors for some reason. Mordred could make a few guesses but decided against it. He did not care about the reason why and would just go with the flow.

Inside the gazebo were many chairs and tables although most of them had an occupant. Mordred and Nyx sat at the table with the least number of occupants, a single blue devil.

The devil seemed very pleased to have Mordred sit with him and tried to strike up a conversation but he was ignored by the Oni.

Soon the rest of the seats were filled. When Mordred looked around, it seemed like there were over 50 students.

'I thought the class had a 30 person limit,' Mordred pondered before putting the thought in the back of his mind. He did not care about how many other students there were as long as he could get the credits he wanted.

Soon, an older red devil came flying in and landed outside the gazebo. As he walked in, he looked at most of the class with indifference.

He did not stand and greet the class but instead sat down at his desk and pulled out a book. As he started reading he yelled out instructions to the class.

"If you can't count, there are 57 of you. If you can't read, the class had a limit of 30. I do not care how students I have but will not have useless students in my class.

The class ends in about 2 and a half hours. You have until then to create 1 talisman. I am here to teach you the basics but not the bare minimum to enter the class.

If you can create it, you stay in the class. If you are unable to, you will be banned from taking this class or any other teacher's basic inscription class for 2 years. If you leave now, the ban will only be one year.

And if you dare to cheat, I will take away an arm or a leg. Depends on my mood

Supplies are on your tables or you can use your own. Don't care. Start whenever."

A few of the demons and dark beings looked around confused. The smart ones began working on their talisman while the ones who were not confident in their skills simply left with dejected expressions.

Mordred was staring at the teacher in fascination.

'This is pretty smart. He is getting rid of people who are unable to even learn the basics while keeping those who are actually talented and hard-working.

Hopefully, his skills back up his arrogance.' Mordred sat in his spot for over 2 hours without doing anything.

Many of the others noticed and spared him looks of pity while they were not focused on their own tasks with a few having mocking expressions on their faces. Even when they created small explosions, they still felt their skills were superior to him.

Mordred ignored them all though. He simply waited.

Even the teacher took notice of the small commotion before looking up and noticing the oddity of Mordred's station.

Other's had crumpled papers, ink splashes, or even the pen moving. His area was clean as if no one was ever there.

When only 10 minutes remained, Mordred picked up a single talisman paper and dipped the pen he was given into the magic ink. Spending only 5 minutes, he was able to flawlessly create a [Fire] talisman under the amazed gaze of all the students who had been struggling to make theirs.
