59 Chapter 59: Alchemy

It took Mordred 3 whole days before the library was finally organized in a manner that satisfied him.

Seeing that he only had 4 days left before classes started, Mordred dived into the 20 books he had laid out on the table. Most were books with lists of rare and exotic metals, another 2 were the basics of blacksmithing, while the final was a basic alchemy book.

'I'll skim the rare and exotic material one first. Let's see what xeno-material is.'

[

Xeno-Material: Rare substance that comes from the stars. Little is known about this material. Users must research it to find out more about it yourself.

Purity: 100%

Cost: 1,000,000 per gram

]

Nothing in that book was needed immediately for classes but he wanted to ensure that he had a decent grasp over all the materials in his system. He had realized that it did not have every rare or even common material but seemed to have a random list of them.

Mordred was going through the book to find out about one of the rarer materials he was unable to identify and the only material within the system that had 100% purity. Just a gram of the stuff cost one million points.

But even after going through all the books, he was not able to find anything that sounded like it resembled the material. He had even bought a few grams so that he could compare it visually but the material was like nothing he had seen before.

'This xeno-material is purple but also has green veins going through it even though it is 100% pure which means that they are natural.

It seems like it is made from metal and is also cool to the touch. But it shifts from liquid to solid states in random instances.

Let's try channeling some mana into it.'

After Mordred tried to move mana through it, the xeno-material seemed to solidify in an instant before becoming a metal shard. Even after he stopped feeding his mana into it, the material did not revert to its previous state. he tried to feed more mana into the metal but nothing changed.

'So does mana permanently alter it? Does this mean I am supposed to shape it before I use it as a weapon or armor? Does that mean [Creation] will not work on it?

It also has to have other properties. Something worth a million points per gram is obviously not just some easy to mold material. Ugh. This is gonna eat into a bunch of my other time researching other things.'

Mordred could only be frustrated at his poor luck and his natural curiosity. Now that he found out about such a mysterious material, he had to find out as much as he could about it.

'*sigh* We will come back to that later. Let's get into this Alchemy book,' Mordred thought before he stored the shard of xeno-material in a clear jar and put it into his dimensional storage.

He opened up the Alchemy book and started reading through it. It was not his first time reading about Alchemy so he was able to get through the book after spending a few hours on it.

Alchemy was divided into 3 main subjects of study. Potions, Transmutation, and Homunculi.

Potions covered the basics of what everyone thinks about when Alchemy is mentioned. Potions could range from healing or other positive effects, poisons, or even explosives.

Transmutation was a subject that dealt with changing the physical state of objects. This could mean refining metals, changing the material completely from one to another, or fusing two materials to combine their properties in one.

Homunculi dealt with homunculus and how to make them. This was considered a false branch of Alchemy since no one had ever successfully created a homunculus before. It was only considered a part of Alchemy since several famous alchemists had argued for it in the past and said that they could do it.

However, the last subject was what interested Mordred the most about Alchemy.

'A subject that no one else has ever completed before? It seems like this was just made for me. Ugh, but I have so much on my plate now.

Magical items mean I have to master inscriptions and learn about rare materials as well as digest those engineering and other science skill books, I have to spend time training my subordinates as well as upgrading them with the serums and saving up for several Titans.

I need to research more about rare and powerful creatures to try and get a better evolution for myself, Nyx, and the others, and now I also plan on studying about homunculi?

If it was any lesser genius, they would be unable to handle all of this. Luckily, I am me!' After ensuring that his ego had not shrunk in the short amount of time since he last checked on it, Mordred opened the blacksmithing books and continued studying.
