44 Chapter 44: So Much Freaking Research

Mordred returned home to and went to his library after noticing none of his family was there. When he sat at his usual place in the library, he saw that there was a note waiting for him.

Safari and the beastmen races had been causing trouble lately. His mother and father along with the Demon Lord of Lust had been assigned to suppress the forces of Safari and would probably be gone for a year or 2.

El had also left with them leaving only Mordred to be in charge of the house. The head butler would make sure everyone did their job and got paid but Mordred did not care about that.

'Those beastmen king has really started getting cocky since that pack of Moonlight Lycans has matured. He did not even wait to reach the peak level before causing trouble.

Judging by the documents on him, he is probably going to rely on their numbers to suppress Mom and Lady Lust while his other forces try to take out the main army.

Why do all other races see the rank divide as something that can be so easily overcome? There are not only stat differences but also peak level differences.

Unless they have a few hundred of those S rank Moonlight Lycans, they are underestimating us demons too much.

Unfortunately, my mother was assigned there. Even with Father, El, and Lady Lust trying to control her, she will most likely keep the war going on for about 3 years so she can play with her food.

Oh well. Not my issue. This actually works out better for me. I can get a few more things out the vault and fudge the numbers a bit or makeup reasons why certain things were needed.'

Mordred tore up the note before he began going through all of his rare books on lightning-related creatures.

Although he had heard of Raiju before, he wanted to get as much information he could. He wanted to see if he could unlock more of his bloodline or make it more powerful without the use of serums.

He also wanted to try and see what he could evolve into later. He only had a gut feeling before due to his spirit beast but now that he had calmed down, he realized how reckless that was.

A couple of the races he could evolve to sounded more appealing to him and looked as if they were just a step away from the legendary X-rank. His spirit beast had influenced his decision too much.

'Although I was prepared for it, it seems like I underestimated its influence.

No need, and too late, for regrets. I will just roll with what I got.'

After moving around for 20 minutes and with help of Nyx, Mordred had found all the books on lightning-related creatures as well as mythological ones. He needed as much information as he could get.

He began diving into the books to try and get his understanding as high as possible. By the time he finally stopped reading, it had almost been 3 days and he would need to meet with his team the next day.

But he got the information he wanted.

Raiju were beasts who controlled powerful lightning-related abilities and came in the forms of wolves, tigers, or foxes in order of strongest to weakest.

Their lightning was so powerful that it could even damage beings made of lightning and was only unable to harm primordial beings of lightning.

The main thing was Raiju were famous for being partners of lightning gods or storm gods.

It was a common belief that Raiju were a sign that a god of lightning or storms was nearby and that Raiju flocked towards gods of those two types to be their heralds or servants.

But these beliefs were wrong. Those who truly studied Raiju knew the real reason behind their appearance.

Raiju were not the servants of lightning/storm gods but instead the proof that one was a lightning/storm god.

If one wanted to claim to be a god of storms or lightning, they had to first be able to have a Raiju for a partner that approved of them.

It could be said that Raiju were the actual gods of lightning and simply bestowed their special lightning to their partners in order for them to claim to be gods.

The most famous Raiju that had been recorded was the partner of the most famous thunder god, Thorin.

This Raiju was known as the 'God Eater' due to a legend about it.

It was said that Thorin met with his rival and the pair dueled for 100 years until both were severely injured and exhausted. They decided to call it a tie so neither died and could treat their wounds.

But before they could leave their battlefield, they were surrounded by 50 other gods who were their enemies and decided to use the opportunity to kill off both of the powerful gods.

Thorin's Raiju who had been watching from afar saw that his partner was ambushed and decided to act. There were 3 flashes of lightning.

After the first flash, Thorin and his rival were removed from the ambush while the Raiju stood in the center.

After the second flash, all of the enemy gods had lightning scars across their bodies and were barely able to stand.

After the third flash, all the gods disappeared and all that remained of them was blood dripping from the Raiju's lips.

Thorin and his rival both starred in shock at the scene before them. They both knew that even at full strength, they could never defeat all 50 enemy gods so easily and swiftly.

The pair spread the legend of what the Raiju had done to all gods and titans. Hearing how terrifying the beasts were, the other deities decided that they could not be allowed to exist any longer.

The deities launched a massive hunt for all Raiju and any gods who decided to protect them. In the end, only 5 lightning deities and 2 storm deities who decided to assist in the hunt remained while the Raiju became extinct.

But this hunt came at a cost. 200 gods and 7 titans also died in the battles that occurred while making the legends of Raiju become even more terrifying.

Do not mistake that Titans were simply a little stronger than gods. Even a hundred gods may not be able to hurt a Titan.

For two Titans to die when all of them led the assault on the Raiju, showed just how powerful those beings were,

Although Raiju were supposed to be erased from the annals of history, the gods who had been in the battles and witnessed their power spread the tales of the Raiju to their believers and children in order to warn them of the great threat that might one day reappear.

That is how the world knows of the great beasts known as the Raiju and how they had been dared to kill Titans.

'At least that is what all the different books say. Hard to find out the exact truth when I have never experienced it while this guy inside of me has nothing more than the instincts of a Raiju

But if I were to take this with a bit of honesty, with a wolf Raiju, I have the potential to evolve into a being comparable to a Titan.

But it also means that not only am I screwed by going against the deities by trying to escape my limits but also because I have a forbidden beast inside of me.

At least I learned this before I used my Raiju form in public. Luckily for me, I do not need to rely on it to unleash my full power since I have the system and Nyx to help make up for my lack of being able to use it.'
