41 Chapter 41: Results of Experiments

Luckily though, there were several slaves that had been tested on. Mordred had figured out that by only gaining one of the two effects, a person could still take the serum without worrying about losing what they gained but they also would not gain it twice.

So if someone took the Chimera serum and unlocked the stat points but not their bestial traits, they could take it as many times as they needed to in order to try to unlock the beast within without worry about losing the stat points.

This was the secondary gain from the experiments they conducted on the slaves.

The main thing they learned was, the serums did affect evolutions.

The group experimented on a few human slaves first. After they took the Mk1, they were only able to evolve into basic elves, herbivore beastmen, or a weak dark race member that fit with their personality or fighting styles.

If they had high magical talent, they would unlock variant evolutions with more powerful magical abilities. If they were those who were skilled with assassinations, they would gain evolutions with a better talent for stealth abilities.

This was why Mordred gained the Giant and Asura races. The Giant was due to his magical talent while the Asura was due to the aggressive fighting style he had.

But after taking the Magus serum, all and succeeding, their evolutions became more varied with some even gaining B rank species to evolve into if their magical talent was high enough.

And after taking the Chimera serum, the options were further diversified and improved. Although there was a maximum of 5 evolution choices, each evolution choice after taking a serum improved over the previous choices of evolution as long as all 5 slots were filled out.

They had tested it out on other slaves but the 9 found a weird discovery. The humans seemed to have the most potential.

Even if the human was weaker than a wolf beastman or a wood elf and had less magical talent, the evolutions they could unlock always seemed better.

The group had no choice but to conclude that humans while being the weakest in general, had the most potential.

Mordred did not even look at his evolutions before he took the second Magus serum. He did not care for the options before him since he knew he would get better ones after he took the other serums.

Although he still did plan to look at the options he gained after taking the Chimera to see which direction the system thought he was putting himself in.

Body changes: Minor: Increased healing factor, retractable, dark element claws, tail

Innate Ability gained: Tier 1/9 Passive Skill: Ruler: User stands above those in his race. Users can form a faction of demons loyal to him. Loyalty is undeniable and unbreakable. User is able to view the status of those under him

Flood Asura: SSS rank: Beings born and bred for combat and war. At their peak, they can even compare with gods in combat. The main weakness of asura is their pride and their berserk mentalities causing them to be their own worst enemies. These asuras are blessed by water and are usually much calmer than other members of their race.

Body changes: Major: gain additional 2 faces, 4 arms, nasty tempers, blue hair

Innate Ability gained: Tier 1/9 Passive Skill: Battle Hungry: the longer the user is in combat, the more their stats increase but their mind becomes less stable and more focused on battle. 5% increase in physical stats every 10 minutes of combat.

True Water Giant: SSS rank: Giants that have command over the very earth they walk on. The smallest of them are 5 meters tall while the largest can be up to 20 meters tall. Known for their immense strength and power.

Body changes: Major: grow 5 meters in height while the rest of the body grows in proportion to match the height, almost impossible to use normal weapons besides polearms.

Innate Ability: Tier 9 Passive Spell: Natural Water Magic: the user is able to manipulate the world's water itself to use for defense, offense, support, or whatever else their mind can think of. The amount that can be controlled at once is limited by the mind stat.

The new evolution and variant of the standard asura race were both welcome surprised to Mordred. With his improved water element, he gained a welcome boost to the Asura race while the Daiyokai race seemed great if he wanted to be a leader.

He knew that each of the evolutions would also change the racial skills he already had. Whether it would just change the name, to minor changes in effects, or even major changes to the ability to the point where it might barely be recognizable to the old one.

Although he already had a plan, he wanted to see how smart the system was and to see if it could understand him.

Mordred threw the others their Magus serums and reminded them to take it only if they succeded with their Mk1 before taking his second Magus serum.

This time, he was more prepared for the headache and could at least stand while endured the pain for an hour. But when the hour was up, he did not gain any stats.

He looked around at everyone and saw that no one fully succeded. Some were still on the Mk1 while a few others either failed the Magus entirely or were only half successful like him.

Almost all. He saw the proud look on Persephone's face as she examined her body with a small smile on her face. He could tell that the witch had succeeded.

She looked over at him before making the universal 'hand it over' sign with her hand. Mordred threw over a couple of Chimera to her, although he was unwilling in his heart.

'Damn, witch.'

Feeling frustrated, Mordred took another Magus serum so he could catch up with Persephone as soon as possible.

Just like with the Mk1, he was able to succeed after his third try with Magus. Mordred felt a new strength enter his body and he felt as if he had been reborn.

He saw Persephone only half-succeeded taking Chimera the first time and was about to take her second.

After thinking about, Mordred called Nyx down before passing her two Magus and Chimera serums before instructing her to take one of each.

Mordred did not wait to take the Chimera. He was ready for it. He swallowed the serum in one gulp.

The Chimera serum differed from the Magus and Mk1 serums in a few ways. The first was the physical changes.

While the latter two would not leave any physical evidence, Chimera would leave a tattoo on the body of the person who took it if the serum was a success and the place of the tattoo was random.

Sometimes it would be on the face, other times on the hand or arm, and sometimes it would end up like a tramp stamp. The shape of the tattoo would be the same as the spirit animal. The color of the tattoo also varied as well.

The other major difference was abilities. The Chimera serum would give someone 3 abilities related to their spirit animal when it succeeded as well unlike the other two that gave no abilities.

Out of the 3 serums, this one affected the evolutions the most. Persephone had suggested giving the serums in different orders before to see if that affected the end result.

While the order of the serum did not affect the final list of evolutions, it did demonstrate at what level of importance the serums really affected the end evolution.

Say if Mordred took his Magus serum first. He would most likely unlock a weaker race instead of the Daiyokai or Asura races along with the Giant race instead of the Giant and Asura races.

Mordred felt something rush through his body right after he took Chimera. It was not like the other two serums. He felt no pain or headache.

He closed his eyes and felt it. There was just a rush. Flooding his entire body for an entire hour until the serum's effects ended.

When he opened his eyes, there was a flash of lightning that went through his eyes as he felt a tattoo forming on the right side of his chest.
