39 Chapter 39: Hunting Again

Mordred only took a few days to rest at home before he grabbed some more coins from the vault to continue his training and grinding. He wanted to reach level 100 and be able to perform experiments as soon as possible.

His goal of level grinding was not for himself, however. He was a man of science yet was very lazy.

He wished to do nothing more than to conduct experiments in order to ensure that he got the most benefits without putting in unnecessary effort or wasting time.

His goal of reach level 100 was to see what Nyx would evolve into.

'Now that I think about it, can I also give Nyx the serum too? And this way, we have someone to test on who we don't have to kill off.

I should inform the others of this the next time I see them. No rush though.

Now, which dungeon should I go to?'

Mordred thought of the dungeons that were suitable for his level and duo hunting as well as those that had skills he wanted to give to Nyx.

He originally planned all the dungeons he would conquer until level 200 out before but with the serums that the system granted, it completely destroyed any plans that he had come up with previously.

He decided quickly to visit the level 100, B-rank [Heavenly Retribution Thunder Empire] dungeon. While the name sounded impressive, the creatures inhabiting it were not.

It was commonly known as the [Pest Control Training] dungeon due to the types of creatures that inhabited it. There were also no boss creatures either.

The dungeon was filled with mainly lightning rats, jolt mantises, blue cobras, etc. A bunch of low ranked creatures who had control over lightning-related abilities. The lowest level of which was 70, 20 higher than Mordred and Nyx.

This dungeon was the complete opposite of the [Triassic Lands]. All the creatures in the dungeon shared 4 main traits: weak physical bodies, fast speeds, small sizes, and large numbers.

The last part was the most terrifying aspect of the dungeon. Even the smallest group of enemies would contain at least 20 of them and they would not hesitate to call for reinforcements.

Those who entered this dungeon were either confident they could eliminate an entire group at once, were confident in a war of attrition, or just plain stupid.

Mordred wanted to use this as a chance to get some more lightning-related abilities for Nyx as well as a few for himself and improve his close-combat techniques.

Having half given up on guns and although still interested in explosives, Mordred was ready to continue the close combat methods that his mother had been engraving in his bones since young.

"We are Oni. We crush enemies with our clubs before taking what is left of them and turning them into a great wine," were the words she always shared with him.

While he found his mother's methods somewhat crude, he did not deny the usefulness of close combat. But instead of clubs, he preferred blades or bladed polearms where he could cut apart his enemies instead of trying to cut them.

When his mother asked why he told her it was 'less messy' as his reasoning.

So he purchased a few combat style skills that he felt would fit him the best along with some grabbing some weapons Tier 3 throwing knives and a pair of long swords from home.

[

Tier 2: Ninpo, Kenjutsu (Lv 1): The user is skilled with the sword techniques related to ninjutsu/ninpo.

Tier 2: Ninpo, Shurikenjutsu (Lv 1): The user is skilled with the weapon throwing techniques related to ninjutsu/ninpo.

Tier 2: Ninpo, Intonjutsu (Lv 1): The user is skilled with the movement and escape techniques related to ninjutsu/ninpo.

]

So he decided the best way to level up and get these skills to a higher level was to push himself and his Nyx to their limits by having themselves take on a large number of weaker enemies.

When the pair arrived at the dungeon, the plaza was empty. On a good day, the dungeon would only get 5 teams visiting it while a bad one might not even get one.

This was a dungeon made for masochists for those who were looking for a specific low tier ability book. Pretty much everyone else would avoid it.

Mordred paid for his entrance token before walking in front of the large arc which served as the entrance of the dungeon. Sparks were shooting off from the edges all around the sides that threatened to strike anyone who got too close or careless.

This is where we are going to be spending the next couple of months. Ready Nyx?' Mordred asked through the pair's telepathic link.

He was very happy with the new link. The old one only allowed Nyx to speak to him and had a very limited range. This one, not only allowed him to speak back to Nyx but also allowed for sense such as sight and memories to be shared.

This, along with her [Camouflage] skill made Nyx perfect for espionage and scouting in the future.

The little loli banshee looked at Mordred before nodding as the wind blew her dress around. Luckily, she did not have a lower body and the place was empty, otherwise many would be able to see the banshee's lower region.

'Hmm. Get your weapons ready. Remember, there is no safe zone here,' she responded.

Mordred did as advised before pulling out both and his blades and strapping them to his waist while attaching 25 throwing knives all over his body. He then pulled out his P90 before slinging it across his back.

'Although these things are fast, I might be able to catch a few off guards with it or can use it in a pinch when we are getting swarmed.'

Mordred did not pull out a shield though. He always felt that they blocked his range of movement too much.

The pair were covered in a blinding light before they entered the dungeon for the first time and where it would become their temporary home for a long time.
