31 Chapter 31: Triassic Lands

'This has to be a joke. That last serum can turn anyone from an E rank being into an SSS-rank being. It might even be able to turn an SS rank demon into the legendary X-rank.

All the other serums have their uses too but I will aim for the perfected version. Wait, can I use more than one of these?'

After rereading the descriptions, Mordred was sure he could each of the serums on himself. They only mentioned not using the same serum twice but said nothing about the other serums.

Mordred went to the skill section to plan out what skills he would purchase, but did not stay in there for long.

He looked at the various skills that were Tier 3 and below that he found useful before trying to decide which ones were essential for what he had to do.

'My focus should not be on the advanced skills for now. From what I saw before, most of the skills, while being helpful, are useless to me right now.

In the academy, we will focus more on politics, military training, and that subject. I should buy a few of these abilities to help me with my tactical planning as the explosives and architecture did but besides a few like those, I will focus on what I have.'

Mordred purchased 10 Tier 1-3 skills before closing the store menu.

'Nyx. We've been holed up in this place for a couple of months. What say we go out and try to get you evolved again before we head to the academy?'

Nyx looked up from her book before floating to Mordred's side as if silently agreeing with him.

Nyx had shown tremendous growth over the previous 2 months. Not physically but her abilities and mentality had shown rapid improvement.

This was to be expected though. Most of her skills were low-tier while very few were mid-tier. Abilities leveled up faster, the lower their tier.

[

Name: Nyx

Level: 31/100

Rank: C-Rank

Potential: Mid

Type: Banshee

Current Abilities:

-Tier 3 Skill: Telepathy (Lv 7), Tier 3 Skill: Telekinesis (Lv 9), Tier 2 Spell: Stealth (Lv 4), Tier3 Skill: Sonicbolt (Lv 2), Tier 2 Spell: Thorn Armor (Lv 2), Tier 3 (Passive) Skill: Toxic Stinger

]

Her telekinesis was on the brink of breaking through to the 10th level and being able to evolve into a new skill.

By keeping her out for the past 2 months and using ability points when necessary, Mordred had been able to evolve his [Summon Familiar] spell to the next tier.

[

Tier 6 Spell Advanced Summon Familiar (Lv1): The user has formed a contract with and can summon familiar. Familiar is an existence that will forever be their summoner's partner. The user no longer uses mana to keep summon in the world but instead only uses mana to summon or dismiss their summon.

]

"Up for taking out some low-level cannon fodder or do you wanna go against elites and higher ranks so we can level up as fast as possible?" asked Mordred to his companion.

The former was safer for the pair, especially since Mordred and Nyx were not planning on partnering up with anyone while the latter ensured faster leveling as long as they could.

Both were risky but the former was riskier since they could easily be swarmed if they were not careful. Even if they battled higher-ranked enemies, they still had a chance of outrunning them or doing hit-and-run tactics.

'Let's take on fewer but more difficult opponents. Were you thinking A or S ranks?'

"Mix of both. The Triassic Lands should pose a good challenge for us. It is a level 50 S rank dungeon with the minimum rank of creatures there being A ranks.

Most of the creatures are larger with denser skin and lacking in long-range attacks. This means that we will have to use something other than the methods we have previously employed but also have a good chance of outrunning them.

Perfect training grounds for us. What do you say?"

'Agreed. With your system, we do not need to worry about supplies. Let's go get the money from the vault and rest up for the day.

We can head out, for the dungeon, tomorrow morning at dawn.'

Mordred saw nothing wrong with the plan. He went to the family vault before grabbing enough coins to enter the dungeon, or other similar ones, 20 times without returning home.

He planned to spend most of his remaining 9 months before the academy training his ass off.

The next morning, man and banshee boarded their carriage before arrive at the [Triassic Lands] dungeon. This dungeon was pretty empty compared to the previous two he visited.

This was due to the nature of the creatures. Most demons were A rank so they would struggle with the creatures here if they were similar levels while the S rank creatures would be even more dangerous.

There were also the rewards. Higher ranked creatures usually had higher tier abilities. But the downside of that was the higher the tier of the ability, the less likely it would drop.

The fewer creatures also meant more hunting for maybe less experience than other similar dungeons.

So this dungeon not only had creatures who were a struggle for normal demons to kill but the rewards were also hard to come by.

All of these did not affect Mordred however. He was still a higher rank the creatures, was not too interested in the skills and was working with a single partner so earned more experience than others would in the dungeon.

Mordred paid the fee for entering the dungeon before he received his token. He was the next to enter the dungeon still had to wait another hour before the dungeon opened up.

But no one left when it did. This signified that all the owners of the tokens had died inside of the dungeon.

Mordred did not even mind this as he entered the dungeon. There were tens of demons and thousands of dark race members who died every year in dungeons by overestimating themselves.

Mordred was met with a familiar flash of light before being transported inside of the dungeon.
