22 Chapter 22: Garden of Eden (Banshee)

After resting for an hour, Mordred and Persephone were ready to move forward. But before they did, Mordred wanted to see the new and improved Nyx.

Mordred pulled out Nyx's status menu to view the new changes that she had gone through.

The results were as he expected. Not only had she had the unnerving moan skills replaced as the evolution description said, but Nyx's other abilities had also leveled up. Her telekinesis was the highest level and would be very useful against more opponents now.

Mordred remembered that he had 2 more ability points for Nyx and put both into her sonic bolt, bringing it up to level 5.

With all of her improved combat power, Mordred felt pleased. He then summoned out Nyx to see her new physical form.

When Nyx appeared, she no longer resembled the black orb she looked like when she was a dark spirit. Instead, she looked like a little little girl wearing a white dress. The only reason why she looked different than a regular girl was due to her pure white skin and hair as well as the fact that she had no legs beneath her dress.

Seeing the new form of Nyx, Mordred was surprised. He had read the descriptions of banshees in books before and they were all said to be scary, adult women. Instead, Nyx was an adorable little girl.

'It might be because of her age. Most become banshees after years or are born as banshees. Nyx became a banshee within a day.

Hopefully, this does not impede her progress later.'

After dispelling his worries, Mordred also decided to invest his free stat points. He put them all into Mind and Mobility. Mind would increase his mana capacity so he could keep Nyx out for longer as well as help him when it came to training his inscriptions later.

Mobility would increase his speed, agility, and dexterity, all things he would need as a magic marksmen.

After ensuring that he was fully prepared, Mordred and Nyx began leading the way to the center of the forest with Persephone following close behind them.

There was not much danger since they cleared out the majority of the treantlings with their previous plan. Every now and then, a random treantling would emerge or one of the Killer Hornets would appear at random but under the rapid-fire of Mordred's P90, they were dealt with swiftly, although the P90 would attract nearby treantlings when it was fired.

Within an hour, the group of 3 made it to the center of the forest where they saw their next target, and the location of where the boss of the dungeon was.

In front of them, was a large tree that was hundreds of meters tall and dozens of meters wide. At the base of the tree was a large hole to the inside of the hollowed-out tree. There were hundreds of huge bees flying around the large hive at the top.

This was the final location in the Garden of Eden and where the boss was located, the Tree of Greed. Inside the top of the tree, was a dryad who commanded the forces of the dungeon. There were two ways to approach the dryad.

The first was to go through the inside and kill their way through all the treantlings that were inside, which were in the hundreds or even thousands depending on the party's luck. The second method was to fly up the outside of the tree but then the party would have to deal with thousands of bees.

And burning down the tree was nearly impossible for spells and the amount of mana most parties their level would have. So their only options were fighting or die fighting.

Mordred and Persephone were both secretly glad that they had met each other outside the dungeon. If either attempted to try the dungeon by themselves, they would have a hard time overcoming it.

"Alright, Mori. Buy plenty of those 'grenades' you were telling me about outside the dungeon. We will proceed as planned and lure the treantlings to the lower entrance of each level before burning them alive."

Mordred did as he was asked and purchased 200 incendiary grenades and another 10 fragmentation grenades before evenly dividing them into 10 baskets.

The trio walked to the entrance of the tree. Persephone and Nyx walked behind Mordred as they made their to the inside before setting down one of the baskets.

Mordred pulled out the incendiary grenades of one basket for spreading them out in four lines of 5 so they covered a large area before holding up the fragmentation grenade to Nyx and Persephone.

He pointed at the pin before saying, "On the later levels, you may need to do this. Pull this pin out if I tell you to. Only if I tell you to. Got it?"

'Got it!'

Mordred nodded before summoning out his AK and removing the suppressor from it. He then aimed down the corridor of the tree before firing away until the magazine was empty.

The loud sounds of the gun echoed off the walls and made Mordred's and Persephone's ears even more uncomfortable than when he fired the Taurus. Nyx seemed to enjoy the loud noise though.

Mordred could hear the rumbling of creatures running soon after he fired. He then replaced the magazine and fired once again. The system notified him that he had killed two enemies.

'Better start moving soon.'

Mordred put his AK back in storage before he picked up the fragmentation grenade and ran toward the exit with his two followers before standing 20 meters away from where he set down the basket.

He soon saw the first treantling approach, but it was being followed by at least 20 others. Seeing his enemies arrive, Mordred pulled the pin from the fragmentation grenade before throwing it toward the group of approaching enemies.

Within seconds, it explodes and took down 5 of the enemies while slowing down the rest. But that was its purpose, to slow down the horde.

Persephone was prepared and cast [Firebolt] at one of the incendiary grenades lying on the ground. The firebolt caused it to burst into a small sea of flames before also causing the others to burst into flames. The entire floor of the tree was filled with fire.

But it seemed as if the treantlings did not notice for they ran straight through the flames. While they had been able to make it through the flames, the treantlings were set ablaze and burned to death before they even reached the exit.

Within 5 minutes, the treantlings were burnt to death and the first floor was clear. The duo began making their way to the next floor.
