19 Chapter 19: Garden of Eden (Party Up)

After witing in line for about five minutes, Mordred felt someone staring at him. Well, someone that was both familiar and close to him. As the son of a Demon Lord and one of the few 5 horned Oni to ever exist, Mordred was constantly being stared at. He developed a pseudo-skill that allowed him to filter the various stares upon him.

When Mordred found the origin of the stare, he was greeted with the smiling and seductive face of Persephone. Seeing that she already had her entry tokens, Mordred left the line to see if she wanted to form a party.

'She seems to have gotten even prettier after her awakening. I thought only Oni and Weredragons grew due to their awakening. I wonder if that is also a trait of witches.

Anyway, if I party up with her, this dungeon will be even easier. Both her ice and fire spells will make taking down these plant-type creatures even easier. The only issue is loot distribution.'

By the time Mordred walked over, Persephone was already holding out one of the tokens for him. Seeing this, Mordred did not take it but raised one of his eyebrows as if to ask, 'What do you want for it?'

"We split experience 50/50. Ability books are equal or if there is an uneven number, the extra goes to me. I also get the priority pick.

You also have to join my team during our time in the academy. Don't care if you have Kali or Hades join us but you definitely have to be a part of my team."

Persephone's smile did not leave her face as she stated her price. Mordred was not surprised by these demands. This was how most parties divided the loot with the party leader or the strongest member getting the majority and preference.

As for being a part of Persephone's team during the academy, Mordred had already planned on it. Since he was a child of a Demon Lord, he had access to inside information. He already knew the purpose and importance of the 3 demon teams.

Persephone not only had the most potential due to her elemental talents and her class, but she was also the smartest and cleverest of the group, after Mordred, in his opinion. It was obvious he would want to partner up with her.

Mordred did not say anything but instead took the entrance token from Persephone to let her know that he accepted.

Seeing that he accepted, the smile on Persephone's face turned into a small smirk. This was the usual look on Persephone's face. She was more of a cool beauty than a pure seductive one.

"What was your first dungeon? Pick up any skills?" Persephone asked. Although she was confident in Mordred's combat ability, she still wanted to make the full use of his combat abilities.

"Undead Trial. I got [Summon Familiar] from my parents and got the moaning skill from the dungeon.

My familiar is a Dark Spirit and I gave her the moaning skill. She has the standard Dark Spirit skills but I have focused on increasing her telekinesis.

I also bought two passive skills from my system and a weapon that I can't use here unless we want to attract a lot of attention or are desperate.

I found out more about my system took. I am supposed to become a Magic Marksmen in the future but I have to create all my unique ammunition myself."

Persephone nodded at the first few sentences before getting shocked at the rest. Mordred had shared with her his insane theories about familiars so she knew that his first skill would be [Summon Familiar].

As for him being a Magic Marksman, that was a rare group of classes. Especially one that had to make their own ammunition. Most would need the weapon while all the ammo would be created from skills and use up a large amount of mana.

Magic Marksmen were classes similar to Magic Knights in that they mixed martial skills with magical abilities and spells. Most were more skilled with martial skills or other physical abilities and supplemented those skills with magic.

The difference between Magic Marksmen and Magic Knights was their weapons. Knights used close-range weapons while Marksmen used long-range weapons. Marksmen weapons were usually much deadlier than their normal weapon counterparts but also much more expensive to maintain and replace due to the rarity of demons with the classes.

This was why Persephone was so shocked. By having a system instead of a class, Mordred had essentially eliminated one of the weaknesses of the normal Magic Marksmen.

'If what he says is true, he really might be able to test that weird theory of his. He does not need to worry about creating ammo during battle so he has no need to worry about mana consumption.

And with his system, he has no need to worry about the raw materials of his ammo. System users are so unfair!' Persephone thought with a pout.

As if he could read her thoughts, a mocking look flashed in Mordred's eyes before they returned to normal.

"The High Witch with grand and above level talent in each element and has a Tier 9 class, is complaining about the unfairness of my system?"

Hearing his words, Persephone's face became slightly red at her thoughts being exposed and the reality of her words. To most others, even demons, she was also a cheat character.

To not focus on her embarrassment, she decided to change the subject.

"I see. Anyway, I got to level 13 since I don't have a familiar. I haven't spent any of my ability points yet. I am planning to spend them after I get [Firebolt] evolved.

I was unable to get any skills in my last dungeon while my mother gave me [Tier 5 Spell: Magic Palm]. It is useful for pushing away enemies and keeping them at a distance although it does not do much damage. It is better for crowd control."

Mordred nodded. He would have done the same and waited for a better skill before spending his ability points if he did not unlock inscriptions. Most demons did this during their early levels, saving their ability points for later, due to the difficulty of leveling up to higher tier skills compared to lower ones.

As the pair were discussing with each other, they drew the gazes of others around them. People would already stare at each of them when they were alone. But together, they really drew attention. The pair even had to decline a few others who offered to 'carry' them in the dungeon.

When it was finally their turn, the duo walked up to the entrance but was stopped there due to two people sharing similar tokens. Persephone moved her hands a few times. When she stopped, a small green menu appeared in front of Mordred.

[

EXP Distribution: [Evenly To The Group], On Kill

When EXP is Given: [Dungeon Clear], Floor Clear, On Kill

Party Leader: 1, 2, [Neither]

Party Leader Abilities: N/A

Accept Conditions: Yes, No

]

This menu allowed the party to set all of the rules from the beginning. This way there would be no disagreements later on. It also allowed for special settings to implemented such as when to distribute EXP.

On Dungeon Clear and On Floor clear were used mainly by teams who had been working together for a long period of time. This was to ensure that in case any members died during the raid, no EXP would be wasted on them.

The On Kill option was used by lower-level parties who needed extra power to clear the dungeon or by parties who did not trust each other. This way, no one would try to kill the others in order to keep more experience for themselves at the end.

Mordred clicked on the yes without even reading. He knew Persephone would not cheat him out of the small amount of EXP they would earn there. The pair were blinded by light for a moment before they could see again.
