18 Chapter 18: Garden of Eden (Skills)

Mordred ordered his driver to make his way toward the B rank dungeon, Garden of Eden. Every creature in it was rank B while the levels of them were between 20 and 40. This dungeon did not have anything for him or give him any particular advantage like Undead Trial did but it was great for giving him combat practice.

As Mordred rode on the carriage, he decided to go through the system's store. He decided to purchase a gun to test out in the dungeon. Mordred checked his points and saw that he had 10,876 points. He knew that he would be able to purchase several different firearms if he chose to.

Mordred saw the various firearms and realized something, he did not know what any of them meant. The system introduction explained the basics of what firearms could do but not information about them.

'What's the difference between an SMG and an LMG? Why are there so many subtypes of rifles? What do all these attachments do?'

Mordred felt his head slightly spin. He figured that he could not buy a firearm yet and needed to purchase more knowledge and skills first. He left the items section and went to the ability and information section.

Mordred scanned through it while trying to decide what he needed in order to make the most use out of his class while he was still learning inscriptions as well as the skills he would need in the future. The top skill that seemed to what his class was all about was [Special Operations Mastery].

Seeing the price, Mordred knew would not be able to afford it anytime soon. Instead, he searched for passive/active skills that would grant him knowledge over firearms similar to the [Incription] spell.

He searched the page before seeing that there were search options at the top. He would be able to look up skills by type, tier, and keywords. Mordred immediately searched for any skills mention firearms and below tier 5.

Once he entered the search, he realized that almost all the skills he was interested in were only Tier 2 skills. None of them were too expensive either.

Mordred did not hesitate to purchase the [Basic Firearms] skill. He knew he needed information. He also figured he could buy the others at their reduced cost later.

Mordred's mind was filled with a large amount of information instantly. After taking a few moments to recompose himself and collect his thoughts, he mulled over the information in his head. He was able to tell the difference between each type and knew which ones were suitable for different types of situations.

After digesting everything, he understood firearms even better than he did after the system introduction.

'Wow. This system might really be amazing. Guns are so useful, and if I combine them with inscriptions as I planned, they will be even more powerful than I thought.

The new question is, which proficiency should I get first? I have tested weapon proficiency and it only gives so much proficiency that makes me barely better than an amateur. I have read that specific weapon proficiencies are much better than the general one.

We are dealing with weaker enemies and I'm hunting in dungeons for now so I don't need anything too large or very long range. That leaves SMGs, PDWs, and handguns.

Handguns seem like the easiest to learn so I can get the proficiency up fast. Let's just go with handguns and hope we make the right decision. Even if we don't, I can afford it by taking on this next dungeon.'

Mordred no longer hesitated and purchased [Tier 2 (Knowledge/Passive) Handguns Proficiency]. Another surge of knowledge flooded his head before he had to digest it once again.

Mordred's head was now filled with all the basic information about handguns such as the two main types, the various ammunitions usable, attachments, as well as how to take them apart and put them back together.

Seeing that he only had about 800 points left Mordred could only buy a cheap revolver type pistol called the [Taurus] for 500 points and an extra hundred ammo for 20 more points.

It was a metal revolver with a plastic grip that could only hold 5 shots in it at once and had to be reloaded bullet by bullet. Its range was also abysmal. The only real perk of the gun was that it had some range and the caliber of the bullet was pretty good.

Mordred twirled the gun in his hand to play around with it and get a better feel for it.

'It feels right in my hands. I wonder if this is because of the system, the skills, or I am just a natural with it. Any way, this seems pretty good. I can't waste to test it on a live target.'

Soon, Mordred's carriage arrived at the entrance to the Garden of Eden. Mordred hopped down for it before making his way toward the entrance line.
