16 Chapter 16: Undead Trial (Part 2)

Mordred had read up on enchanters before. He had studied all of the secondary occupations to try and decide what he wanted to gain skills for when he got his class. Enchanting was second on his list.

The number 1 spot was alchemy. He wanted to be able to not only create potions to help heal him and cure abnormal conditions but also wanted to create explosives and poisons as well. But with his system and the classes of his friends, he was no longer worried about that.

He had no problems with learning enchanting now, especially with how powerful it could make his weapons. And the best part, he no longer needed to also become a blacksmith. All of his weapons were already pre-forged for him.

Thinking up to here, Mordred was about to purchase [Tier 2 Spell: Basic Enchantment] but he saw the price. It cost 50,000 points.

'50,000 thousand for a Tier 2 spell? That means my line of thought was definitely correct. Every other Tier 2 costs between 5,000 and 10,000. Even the other basic occupational skills only cost around 6,000.

So since I can't purchase this, for now, I can only save up for it. After I clear this dungeon or maybe even another one as well, I should have more than enough to purchase it as well as a few of these 'guns'. In the meantime, let's assign Nyx's ability point.'

Although Mordred was holding onto his ability point, he did not mind using Nyx's. She did not have as many skills and the number of skills she could learn as a D rank familiar was limited.

'Might as well use her to ensure we make it out of here.'

Mordred added the ability point to Nyx's telekinesis. At level 2, it could lift half Mordred's weight, so around 200 pounds now. The boss monster of the dungeon weighed much more than that but it would still be useful dor distractions and taking out the mobs of the dungeon.

Mordred took another hour to rest and make sure that his mana had recovered a decent amount of mana before making his way to the next level. Luckily, creatures did not respawn after they were killed.

Mordred summoned Nix before standing on the magic circle and making his way to the next floor. This floor did not have a safe zone and was filled with zombies instead of skeletons. Without a safe zone, Mordred could not be as relaxed as he was in the previous one.

"Same plan as the last place. You take one side and I will take the other."

'Yes'

Mordred waited for a moment before he saw Nyx repeat its previous action of dropping the enemies from high up into the air until they died. The zombies ended up being killed much easier than the skeletons. While they were B rank and higher levels, they had a more obvious weak spot.

After being dropped from high up, if they fell on their head, they would die from a single blow. Zombies were known for their raw strength and infection abilities and not their defense.

Seeing that Nyx was good, Mordred went to work on his own group, although much more carefully. He had to get within grabbing range of the zombies for the most part since he could not use Hell Shot if he wanted to use his mana smartly.

Luckily, his mobility surpassed the zombies by a large margin. Mordred would jump in, swipe at the zombie while trying to behead them before falling back before any zombie could grab him. This caused him to also kill a large number of zombies but at a slightly slower rate than Nyx.

Within 40 minutes, all of the zombies were killed. One had even dropped a skill book while Mordred and Nyx had both made it to level 9.

[Tier 1 Skill: Unnerving Moan (Passive): User lets out moans that have a very slight chance to strike fear into their enemies.]

Mordred looked at the skill before giving it to Nyx. It was precisely the skill he was hoping to gain from the dungeon and the main reason he chose this particular one.

According to the old book, [Unfamiliar Familiars], it theorized that creatures could evolve based on the abilities they gained. While most modern books and researchers denied this, Mordred thought the possibility true.

'Why else were there stories about weak people summoning weak creatures yet somehow ending up with variants? It seems less likely that those guys were variants by birth and more likely variants by what they were given. I may be taking a risk with Nyx but if I'm right, I can revolutionize the entire continent of Hel.'

Mordred knew he was not the first to think it but he also knew that he was the first SS rank AND system user to try and use the concept. He had the best shot at accomplishing his goal over his predecessors.

After reading Nyx's status and confirming that she learned the skill, Mordred respawned her so he could recharge his mana. The last floor of the dungeon was the boss fight. Mordred had to be sure that he had all the mana he could. His previous plan could not work on the boss so Nyx was almost useless.

It would truly be a one on one fight with the creature down below. After another hour Mordred was fully rested. Mordred had been in the dungeon for almost 4 hours now and he planned on leaving before it became 6. He knew his mother would never let him live it down.

Mordred stepped into the magic circle to move on to the next level. It was not an open area under the sky like the previous two but was instead a fighting stage. The stage was made of blue-stone.

Standing 20 meters away from Mordred was a man wearing black armor that covered his entire body. Mordred knew that this was no man but was instead a haunted set of armor. It was B rank and should have been around level 15, at least 5 levels stronger than the zombies from before.

Mordred's raw stats and rank were more than a match for it but he also knew that it had skills that were of higher tiers and levels than his. He would not be careless and arrogant against this opponent.
