3 A Curious Thing Indeed

***Correlates with Chapter 3 in One Lie***

Within the cabin, the hearth radiated heat as the fire crackled and popped. The man had laid the woman on a bed of pelts near the fireplace. As he was preparing supper, he recalled how ice-cold and frail she felt while carrying her in. He added more meat and potatoes in the stew with that thought in mind. Her body was now twitching from time to time, but her eyes, though closed, were shifting violently side to side. Light sounds of fear and mumbled words escaped her lips every so often. Looking upon her, the man's expression shifted ever so slightly; his features softening but his gaze growing more intense. She wasn't getting any better near the fire. Stepping towards her, he sat down beside her. Laying a hand on her cheek, eyes closed, he wanted to take in her suffering.

That very moment, she stirred and her eyes gently fluttered open... 'Interesting' the man thought to himself, bearing a smile towards her. Her eyes gleamed with different hues of green and blue. 'You don't see that every day' he thought as she stared at him in surprise and awe. He disregarded her reaction to him, and grabbed her a bowl of stew. Having her recover quickly may prove ideal for him.
