5 FOUR

As Alex and I sat under the shaded tree, a familiar voice spoke through the speakers that hung above us. "Calling all campers, gather at the quadrangle now. The opening ceremony will start in less than 5 minutes."

So much for staying under the shade. The tree was not really that close to the quadrangle, it's a few meters away from the quadrangle's stage. If ever we just stay here, we might not understand what the people are saying or, worst, we might get scolded for staying here. I stood straight and helped Alex up. As I tried to balance, someone bumped into me. We both fell on the ground. Alex immediately held out a hand to help me up while two guys helped the guy, beside me, stand, he might be the one the bumped into me.

Once I was back on my feet, Alex and I were faced the three guys as they dust off the dirt from the other guy's clothes.

I stare at them and noticed that among the three there is one guy that has a very noticeable difference from them. For being a blonde, he looks cute, along with his plain blue shirt under his black leather jacket.

The guy that stood beside him has dark black hair. He looked cute too but he has a very distinct look that makes you look at him again. He as a black shirt and a grey hoodie on. I believe he is the one that bumped into me because he still has dirt on his pants.

The other guy with that black hair looks a bit younger among the three and he seems to be taller than them. He has a very striking brown hair and eyes. He has the same get up with the other two with a plain grey shirt and a black varsity jacket, with a huge 'S' written on the left side of the jacket.

It looks like they are about to perform because of their properly planned get up.

"I'm really sorry. I didn't see you standing there." The dude in a grey hoodie said.

"It's fine." I simply said. Well, it wasn't, but I don't mind. It's not like I am wounded by life with that fall.

"Riley, we should go now or else we get punished." The dude in a black varsity jacket said. He was already backing out with the other guy. Then later on the other guy followed suit.

"I'm really sorry." He called out.

As they ran away, I noticed Alex was frozen and was staring after the three guys running away from us. I snapped a finger in front of her face and she blinked and went back to relality.

"What just happened to you, Alex?" I asked.

"Did I just see them face to face?" she blotted.

"What? Those three dudes?" I said uninterested.

"Hell yeah!" she squealed. What's wrong with this girl? What got into her that she started acting like this?

"Who are they?" I asked curiously. I know they are somehow famous judging by the way Alex is reacting, but I have no clue who they are.

"The most awesome guys on earth. Well aside from THE One Direction. All girls go crazy over them."

"Oh really?!" I am not convinced because they do not look that familiar or famous for me.

"They are. They're in a band called Before You Exit." She squealed.

"Okay. That settles it. Let's get going." I said as if that information mean nothing to me and dragged her to the center of the quadrangle.

As we stood there, a lady came out from the backstage and walked towards the podium. The lady looked so familiar. I thought for a second. I think I saw her somewhere. Then I finally realized who it was. It was Angela, the girl that brought me here from the subway.

"Well, good day, girls and boys." She trailed off. "Welcome to the camp." She started saying things that I didn't bother to know.

I have no interest in listening to her little introduction and blah, blah, blah. Nothing was on my mind in particular, except that I badly miss my mother and my favorite restaurant.

Alex nudged me and I looked at her. I shoot her a 'what' look and she pointed to someone…I clearly do not know. I tried to follow at where her finger was pointing, but I did not see anything or anyone that I should show interest at.

"To whom are you pointing at?" I asked.

"To Before You Exit, Sam."

"So?!"

"They are looking at us." She said smiling like crazy.

"Don't get me wrong sister, maybe they aren't looking at us, in particular. Maybe they are looking at some hot chick at our direction." I uttered. Alex looked back.

"I don't see any hot chick around." She said. "And just so you know, they can't be looking at anyone else but you. Look at those two guys; they are looking right at you and they're even smiling at you. I think they got a thing on you, Sam."

I looked at those boys. And yes, they we're looking at us but not me. Alex waved at them and they waved back.

"You know, Alex, that's a stupid shit. Why would they have a thing on me? They don't even know me."

"Really?! But we might not know." She said sounding unconvinced.

"That's beyond impossible."

"So… tell me… the reason why they are coming our way."

"What?" I exclaimed and immediately looked at where the three dudes stand and indeed they were slowly making their way towards us.

"Hey ladies, fancy seeing you here." The guy in a leather jacket said.

"Yeah. You too." Alex said.

"Well, isn't it obvious? We came to this camp as well, meaning you can see us around here." I retorted. I hate being in someone else's company, especially with this kind of people.

I act rude when I'm around other people's company, except my mum.

"Why so rude, hot chick?" the one with the hoodie said, placing his arm over me.

"Get your freaking arm off me." I demanded. He immediately removes his arm away from me. "That's better, thank you very much."

"I thought you were kind and sweet." He said.

"Well, your thought is…" I was cut by Alex.

"Sorry for my friend's rudeness." Alex said.

"Yeah right."

"By the way, I'm Alex." She said. "This is my roommate/friend, Sam."

"Nice meeting you, Alex, Sam." The three dudes said in unison.

"I'm Carl." The one with a leather jacket said. "These are my brothers, Ross," he pointed to the one with the grey hoodie.

"Hi."

"And Tyler." He pointed to the one with the varsity jacket.

"Hi."

"I know." Alex said keeping her excitement inside. I think she's about to explode.

Wait. They are brothers? How come they look different? They don't look the same and they have no similarities.

Connor; the blonde dude, Riley; the black hair dude, and Toby; the brown hair dude. To remember and not to remember? I'll leave the names to Alex, as she knows those dudes.

"So…" I said.

"So…" Alex repeated.

"Well, we'll be performing later. I hope you two would like to watch." Varsity jacket dude said.

"We'd love too." Alex stated.

"Umm…NO!" I exclaimed.

"Why not?" hoodie dude questioned. He should have expected that from me.

"We don't like to watch. We're doing something later." I said. Alex did not seem to protest.

"Okay, we better get going, we have to prepare for our performance later." Varsity jacket dude stated.

"But we hope you two would be there, though." Leather jacket dude said. "It would be nice seeing your faces among the crowd.

"We'll just see. Bye!"

"Bye." They said in unison and walked back to where they were standing awhile ago and then disappeared through the crowd.

"Are we really not going to watch them perform?" Alex said.

"Yes. I still have to unpack my things, you know. If you want, you can watch them later."

"No, I'm not going alone. I want you to watch them, you know. I never got the chance to see them live before due to my sister."

"I still have to unpack."

"Both of us will watch them perform and that is final."

"I still have to unpack." I repeated.

"You can unpack after they perform. Once they finish performing, we'll leave and then you can unpack."

"I don't know, Alex.

"Please Sam?!" she said with puppy dog eyes.

"Okay. Fine." I could not say no to those puppy dog eyes. She reminds me so much with Matt. He usually pulls out the puppy dog eyes when he wants to get what he really wants.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

"Sam, I'll help you unpack so you can finish faster." Alex offered.

After the ceremony finished, Alex and I headed back to our cabin and I have decided to unpack some of my things so after the performance thing I will have less things to unpack.

"Okay."

We got in our cabin and I directly grab my suitcases form the corner. I first opened the suitcase that I, myself packed. I got the things inside and arranged it inside the cabinet. Once I was done with the first suitcase, I grabbed the other three and opened them.

"What the heck are these?" I said grabbing one clothing and examining it.

"It's a dress, Sam?" Alex said.

"I know what it is."

"Then, why did you react like that?"

"How did it get inside my suitcases? I don't wear these things."

"Really?! 'cause all the things inside that suitcase are dresses. These one contains skirts and fancy blouses."

"What?! Are you kidding me?"

"Nope. Check it for yourself." Alex demanded.

I looked at the suitcase where I got the dress from. I got everything out, and then indeed these were all dresses. Then I checked the suitcase that Alex opened, I grabbed some clothes and these were skirts and fancy blouses.

"How did this happen? Alex, I don't wear these kinds of things." I exclaimed.

"What do you mean? Are you the one who packed these?"

"Nope." Panic written all over my voice. These can't be happening.

"So, who would pack this for you then?"

"My Dad."

"Your Dad?!"

"Yes. He prepared my entire suitcase except for one." I explained.

"Why did you let him?"

"He offered me. He'll purchase all new things for me. But I didn't know that those new things would be this. And I can't easily say no to my dad. And he really wants me to start acting like a girl and start looking like a girl."

"But you are a girl, Sam. And you look like a girl."

"You don't understand, Alex."

"Understand, what?"

"Well, it's obvious I'm a girl, right?" I stated and she nod. "But I'm not totally a girly type of girl. I don't act like how teen girls would act. I act like a boy. I prefer wearing clothes that are a bit for boys. I like shirts than blouses. I like pedals than skirts or dresses."

"Don't worry, Sam. If ever you would wear those things, I won't treat you differently. I'd treat the same way I treat you now. It's only the clothes you wear that changes, not who you are." Alex remarked.

"Aww…I'm touched. Alex, maybe I can bear wearing these girly clothes. But I'll start wearing these if I run out of my own clothes and if I cannot wash them on time, if the camp's activity would be hectic." I said and gave Alex a huge hug.

"Oh. My. Gosh. Sam, all your clothes are designer clothes." Alex exclaimed.

"What?"

"It's a Travis Ducain's collection."

"Seriously?" I said. I dig through the pockets of the suitcase and found a note.

~*~*~*~*~

Dear Sam,

I've packed the clothes that you need for camp. I hope you like it. I know you don't wear these kinds but I still hope you appreciate it. These clothes are from my new collection. It's my summer collection. I haven't release it yet and I was hoping you'd be the first one to grab hold of it. All the designs are inspired by you. I designed it all. But somehow I made it more girly than boyish. But again I'm still hoping you'd like it.

Have fun in camp, Sam.

Love,

Dad.

~*~*~*~*~

I read it aloud so Alex could hear.

"You should wear one of the blouses for tonight's event, for your dad." Alex stated.

"Okay." I can't let my Dad down. He means everything to me, even if I'm not anymore part of his legitimate family.

Alex still continued helping me unpack but I've told her I'll leave one suitcase untouched. I'll just continue to unpack later after the performance thing.

"Sam, let's go. We have ten minutes before they perform."

"Okay. Let's go.

I'm really glad I found Alex. I've never thought that I would find a friend in this camp and I really trust her. She even makes me feel better. She's a true friend and I won't let her go.

"Hey Lex." I gave her a new nickname.

"Yes."

"Thanks for being a really good friend to me, even if I was kind of rude to you earlier."

"Thanks for being my friend as well." She said and gave me a hug, I gladly returned the hug.

"You're a true friend, Lex, despite the fact that we only meet a few hours ago." I whispered to her ear as we hug.
