4 Reward

Before he knew it, an entire month had gone by. Wolf was still chained up in the room by himself, barely anyone ever came to see him. He tried making conversation with those guarding him, but that ended up in failure.

All he could do was eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom.

When he was not doing that, he was curious about the portals so he tried summoning them. Black Hand and everyone else assumed he could, so Wolf thought he could as well.

There were numerous tries, but it helped him pass the time.

Eventually, he opened a portal on his own, but shortly after it closed right away. The portal did not stay open for a second.

Time and time again, Wolf continuously tried to open portals. Some times it worked, but majority of the time they failed. Still, he did not give up. Every time he managed to summon one, he felt joy in his heart. It was as if he accomplished a major feat.

Wolf turned his head to the door that was opening up.

"Get up."

The guard said as he entered the room.

Wolf did as he was told, and the man unchained him.

"Run and you'll get beaten. Try to escape, and you'll suffer. Understand?"

After spending so long in the room, Wolf was just happy he would finally get a chance to leave. He nodded his head in understanding.

"Good. Follow me."

Wolf followed the man until he arrived at the bathroom. There was a tub filled with water.

Pointing towards the tub, the man looked at Wolf.

"Get in and wash."

"Now?"

Wolf asked.

He was a little embarrassed to be taking his clothes off in front of the man.

In response, the man slapped him upside his head. It hurt and Wolf did as he was told. His tattered clothes were stripped and he hopped inside the tub.

It felt good to wash up after such a long time. He's forgotten all about how nice the water felt.

Memories came back of Ross and Angel, all three of them would wash up in the ocean water by the docks. Sometimes they would carry a bucket back to their home to use it later for cleaning.

It's been a while, but Wolf still remembered his two friends. He wondered what happened to them. There was an inkling of hope left in his heart that they were still alive, but he did not really know.

If he were a pirate and someone was trying to steal from him, would he let them go? Probably not.

After a good scrubbing Wolf looked clean. All the dirt and dust was gone, and his skin seemed to shine. For a boy he had smooth white skin, almost like a girls.

"Put this on."

The man threw a black shirt and pants towards Wolf who was getting out of the tub.

The clothing was a bit big, but Wolf made it work. He'd grow into it eventually. If he lived that long.

"Come, the boss is waiting."

Seeing Wolf put on the clothing, the man turned and left the room. Wolf was right behind him, afraid if he stayed back too far the man would strike him.

He was taken to Black Hand, who was seated in his chair with a cigar in his mouth. Wolf noticed a new scar on his face, this one went across his nose. Something must have happened while he was locked up in the back room.

"You still alive huh? Well, it's time you started working. No more free meals."

"What am I going to do?"

"You brat, are going to open a door for us. Simple right?"

It sounded very simple, but Wolf did not like where this was going. If it was that easy, why didn't Black Hand do it? Or one of his men?

"Take him, and give him a dagger. If he runs, kill him."

Black Hand stopped looking at Wolf and instead spoke to the guard.

The man nodded and told Wolf to follow him. Both of them went outside, where Wolf saw a bunch of men loading up guns. Some were sharpening their swords and axes.

They all looked serious.

The guard led Wolf to a stack of weapons on the ground. He grabbed a rusty looking dagger and gave it to Wolf who accepted.

After the man rounded up some men and walked off.

Their group of fifteen went down a block and turned a corner. It was a ten-minute walk, but they eventually arrived at their destination.

It was a large brick building that was heavily guarded in the front. There were men posted everywhere, all carrying weapons.

Wolf's group dodged the patrols, stuck to the alleys, and made it around back. There was a door there, but it was locked. Breaking it down would be difficult because it was a metal door.

The men of Black Hand's Gang opened up a sack and took out some explosives.

The guard who was in charge of Wolf looked at him.

"Teleport yourself inside and open this door. Don't even think about asking for help, these guys will kill you before you even open up your mouth. And if you take too long we'll just blow the building up. Got it?"

Seeing all the weapons, Wolf nodded. He did not doubt them for a second.

'Here goes nothing!'

Wolf looked at the door and concentrated hard. Nope, nothing.

Seconds turned into minutes, and the men were getting impatient. The guard pointed his rifle at the back of Wolf's head.

"You got three seconds."

Those words got Wolf's blood pumping and worked like a charm. A portal opened up right in front of him allowing Wolf to jump right in.

When he appeared again, he was inside the building on the other side of the metal door.

Wolf looked around and saw that it was just an empty room. There was nothing here worth anything.

He started to question what the men wanted, but he still opened up the door.

When he did, they all rushed inside with an evil grin on their face.

Four of them had explosives in their hand. They stood next to Wolf while the other ten went upstairs. Their steps were pretty loud, but they did not seem to care. Within seconds of them going up, Wolf started hearing gunfire.

The front entrance opened up as people rushed in. It was the same people who were posted outside. All four men next to Wolf light and threw their explosives causing the entrance to collapse as well as killing those who tried to enter.

Wolf was shaken.

Someone slapped him on his back hard.

"You did good brat! Real good!"

It was strange to be praised by these men, and Wolf was unsure if he should be happy to receive their praise.

When the men finished what they were up to, and killed off the rest of the men who were left they went back to their base. Wolf did not escape, nor did he try to. After seeing how they dealt with those people, Wolf realized how much of a dangerous situation he was in.

His only way to escape was to learn how to use his ability.

For Wolf, he was given a special privilege for doing a good job. He was now allowed to leave his room once a day for one hour. That was Black Hand's reward.

It was not much, but to Wolf he was happy.
