Chapter 9: New Member of the Crew

Hawkins finishes narrating his past. He looks down at the table and says "After that day, I explored my devil fruit powers and embraced it to become the demon they believe will kill them all."

Law listens to Hawkins and says "Good, I was in my way to destroy this kingdom and was contemplating between killing only the kingdom or even the citizens. I will help you with you revenge and after you have nothing tying you down to this place, I want you to..."

Hawkins doesn't even let him finish and says "Yes. I will be your crew's navigator. I also hope you will let my followers join your crew."

"You didn't even think about it." Law says.

Hawkins says "This was already decided by fate. That's the reason I believed you and told you my past."

"You and your men are now Heart Pirates. Now pack up all your things and prepare to leave. We will destroy this kingdom and leave in 10 minutes." Law says.

Hawkins feels that Law doesn't understand who he is going against. He says "The men around pope are Cipher Pol agents. Everyone has superhuman abilities. I know you will win, but it is better if you proceed with caution."

Law smiled and stands up. He turns around to leave and says "Let me show you just how powerful your captain is."

Law then walks out of the cave, with his friends following him. Law says to his friends "Today we really get to test out how strong we are. We are going to fight with people who might also know the six powers like us."

They nodded their heads and wait for Hawkins and his men to finish packing up all their stuff. It only took them and hour to pack all their things and walk out of the cave. Since they are on the run, they have everything packed up before itself so that they can abandon the cave when they are discovered.

Law then walks to the gates of the kingdom and creates a room, which covered the complete kingdom. He then teleports everyone directly to the huge church in the middle of the kingdom. Hawkins is completely shocked since it was the first time he witnessed Law's powers.

The church has been upgraded and is now a magestic white building with beautifully carved statues, colored glasses that change the color of sunlight light entering the church and a huge mansion beside it, which was the king's castle before and is now used by the pope.

Law teleports everyone in the church to the huge garden around Pope's mansion. Many priests, nuns and ordinary folks appeared in the garden and everyone were confused.

They were all doing something in other places and are now in the garden of the pope. One priest was taking a dump when he was brought to the garden.

Law ignores then and says to the pope "I still have three more kingdoms to wipe out. So, it would be helpful if you bring out the Cipher Pol agents."

The pope didn't have to order anyone. Immediately when Law finished speaking, five men appeared before Law. They immediately disappeared from there and appeared before Law, Bepo, Penguin, Shachi and Hawkins.

They only disappeared for the normal people, as for Law and his friends, they could follow their movements. The Cipher Pol didn't want to play around so, the agents who went to attack his friends immediately started attacking when they get closer.

Bepo, Penguin and Shachi were trained, sonthry could easily keep up with them. The Cipher Pol agents were also not trained in all six powers. The only one struggling was Hawkins.

The Cipher Pol agent appeared before Hawkins and before Hawkins could even react, the agent used Shigan and stabbed Hawkins' throat. Nothing obviously happened to him and a man behind Hawkins fell to the ground.

The agent saimys to Hawkins "You are going to run out of all the lives you have and die today."

Hawkins replies "The probability of my death is only 10% while yours is 100%. You are fated to die today."

As for Law and the agent before him, no one moved. The agent could tell that Law was the leader and he was the strongest. The agent said "I can tell that you are pirates. It is better if you leave right now, or else you are going to regret it later."

Law replies "People talk with their enemy only when they are not sure they can win. Whatever you say won't convince me to spare you."

The agent was now pissed. He says in anger "You pirate scum. Don't think you are strong just because you can kill people."

He immediately tries to use Shigan to stab Law in the heart, but his finger couldn't even make it through the skin. The agent just stood there shocked.

Law catches his arm and asks "Do you know the Rokuogan?"

The agent, who could sense his death, was now trembling with fear. He shook his head to indicate 'no'.

Law says "Then I don't have any reason to keep you alive."

The agent says "You maybe strong, but you should also think about your frien..."

He stops halfway when he sees that the other agents lay dead near Law's friends. It didn't take much effort for them to deal with them.

Bepo just punched him in the chest, fracturing the ribs, which stabbed the lungs. Shachi used Rankyaku and only a single air blade was enough to make him bleed to death. As for Penguin, he used geppo to move away from his Target and shot him with his rifle.

The agent with Law then says "Your crew might be strong, but the demon prince you brought along will die if you don't leave."

This was true, because he was struggling to catch his breath and he had ten dead people behind him. The soldiers could have helped him overpower the agent, but Hawkins refused their help.

The agent fighting with Hawkins says "You were right that I might die today, but I am glad that I will atleast take one person with me."

Hawkins says "I am going to join the crew of a very strong pirate. I have to prove to him that I can be of help instead of a burden."

Hawkins swings his sword to keep the agent away from him, but the agent uses geppo to easily get past the sword and use Shigan.

Slowly, the number of men behind him were decreasing. Hawkins, who understood that he has to change strategy, jumps back to get some space and stretches out his left hand. Multiple straw dolls start falling out of his hand.

Hawkins says "I am now done to my last life, kill me if you can."

The agent says "I will gladly grant you your wish."

He appears before Hawkins and uses Shigan aimed at his heart and unlike before, it actually injures him and he starts to bleed.

Hawkins screams out in pain since he hasn't experienced pain ever since he got the devil fruit. The agent looks at Hawkins and smiles.

Hawkins then suddenly starts laughing out loud and says "I got it."

The agent sensed something is wrong and jumped back. Hawkins then takes out a straw doll from his hand and places a hair strand on it.

The agent understood what he was doing and immediately rushed at Hawkins but he was too late.

Hawkins twists the leg of the straw doll and the agent's leg completely turns 180 degrees. He immediately falls to the ground, screaming in pain.

Hawkins then walks up to him with the straw doll in his hand and says "I am going to make you pay for every one of my men's death."

He then twists, breaks, pulls apart and even rips out a few parts and the agent can do nothing but scream in pain.

Everyone else present there were covering their eyes and ears in horror. The pope, who knew he was coming next, tried to run away, but Penguin shot a bullet near his foot and said "No one can escape our captain's devil fruit powers. It is better if you just accept your fate and stay there."

Law then uses Shigan at the agent and kills him. The pope, who could see his death coming, tried to reason for his life "Prince, if you kill me now, no one in the city will know the truth. You and your family will forever be known as the associates of the demons. Let me live and I will confess to everyone and leave this kingdom."

Law turns to Hawkins to hear his decision. Hawkins says to Law "Why do I care about dead people's opinions? The minute everyone in the kingdom just stood there and watched their king and queen, who was with them for years, being executed and cheered for their death, they no longer are my citizens. They will follow you to hell. You can confess to them in front of the demons everyone hates."

Law then looks at the church and says to Hawkins "Let's get you treated and then deal with them."

Law then makes a room again and teleports all the people who witnessed the fight, to the jail in the church. They then walk into the Pope's castle and are completely shocked at the furniture there.

Everything was shiny with gold and there were various paintings of different people on the walls. Law says to Hawkins "I know you don't like the pope, but I really want to take all this furniture to our ship."

Hawkins says "Now that I get to kill these people, I have no resentment and no hatred left. Do whatever you want."

Bepo shouts at Hawkins "Why did you get stabbed purposefully? You could have died. He went for your heart."

Hawkins replied "There was no chance that I would die today. I am fated to live and be in your crew. Also, I moved my body so that it wouldn't hit my heart."

Law treated his wound and told him to rest for a while before they go to kill everyone. Penguin came to Law and asked "Captain, we are using the Navy battleship and we have to eventually abandon it and get a new one since it is old. When are we getting a new ship?"

Law smiles and says "I will make one after I deal with the people here."

Penguin asks surprised "Are you also a shipwright?"

Law says in his head 'No, but I do have a Engineering degree which was useless in my previous life. I did learn a little about how a ship works in my university. Since there is a battleship here, I can study it to learn how to build a ship. With my devil fruit powers, it should take way less time to build a ship since I can just cut and attach anything.'

Law says to Penguin "No, but I can learn to build a ship."

They then returned back to Hawkins, who had rested enough. They then walk out of the castle and stand at the top of the church. Law then makes a room and teleports everyone to the church grounds.

The ground was big enough to fit the entire kingdom. That's how much the church expanded.

Everyone teleported there were completely confused as to how they suddenly appeared before the church.

Law then asks Hawkins "Do you want to talk to them before killing them?"

Hawkins shook his head and said "No, talking to them will only make it harder to kill everyone."

He then pulls out his tarot cards and draws out a card. Hawkins smiles and says "The card of pursuit. Even fate wants you dead."

Immediately after that, a huge straw monster appears in front of Hawkins with nails as fingers, a club in it's hand and white flowing hair.

Shachi said "That's so cool."

The monster then starts a massacre in front of the church. Law was going around killing everyone in the kingdoms who attacked his home because the people who came to Flevance to kill them were not just soldiers of the nobles. They were also common folks who came for money or to kill them to stop the disease from spreading. So, Law had no sympathy for anyone.

He also explained the same to his friends and although they didn't like what they were seeing, they sympathised with Law. Also, spending years together, they were now close enough to support each other with anything.

[I felt that, with all the trauma he endured as a kid and the short temperament of Kazuto, it would only make sense if Law went to the extremes when taking revenge, since I said before that he holds grudges and pays back 10 times. Tell me your thoughts on this.]
