Saga

A little note before we start, Asuka Island and the characters of this arc are non-cannon characters from One Piece Fifth movie, so you can search them up for reference pictures, but I might do some or a lot of changes in the plot.

"We are here looking for a blade called Shichiseiken, we heard rumors that it's sealed somewhere in this island, I was wondering if you know anything about it" Kai asked with a serious face.

Maya was taken aback when mentioning that name "Shichiseiken?!"

"Judging by your reaction, you certainly have some information"

"I guess I have no other choice but to tell you…" Maya took a deep breath before she started speaking again "…You are right, the sword is real and not just rumors and it was sealed in the shrine near the Marine dojo until a year ago…" She stated "…That's before a band of pirates attacked our village, everyone fought back including Saga--" She stopped for a moment pain was evident in her eyes when she mentioned that name.

"Saga?"

"…He's my husband, a Marine swordsman and the master of the marine dojo. When the pirates invaded, he was the first one to pick up a sword and fight back, vowing to protect me with his life. But unfortunately we couldn't drive them back and we were forced to retreat to the shrine…"

"…the pirates managed to catch up with us and in the midst of the battle Saga was cut down by a pirate. Bleeding by my side, the blade revealed itself to him and he reached out for it despite my warnings. The sword healed his wound and granted him immense power, and he effortlessly slaughtered the pirates, but it came at cost" Maya recounted the story.

Kid chimed in and said, "Let me guess, he fell under the control of the cursed sword?"

"Indeed, the sword changed him and filled him with anger and hatred, and he became cruel to anyone who opposed him"

"Well, all cursed weapons are like that. If you don't have a strong will and assert your dominance over it, it will easily consume you" Kai stated, he then added "The guy probably had a weak mental state"

"He was, at that time he had an unfortunate incident, and his right arm became paralyzed. He fell into a state of depression after that as it affected his swordsmanship skills so much…"

"…I'm pretty sure you heard the story about the priestess that sacrificed herself to seal the sword several hundred years ago" Maya mentioned, it's the same legend that the crew heard when they were at the town.

"Well, everyone in this place seems to know that story" Bonney mentioned.

"I'm actually her descendant and a priestess as well…" Maya proceeded to reveal three ancient orbs she was hiding "The only way to stop the sword's influence for good is to seal it inside the shrine again using these orbs"

"I see, but why didn't you do it already?" Kai questioned.

Maya's eyes were fixed on the ground, sorrow filling her voice before she answered "Well, there is no one here strong enough to stand up to Saga and the marines under him, but--…I'm honestly more afraid to see him get hurt if I do that"

"We'll see about that later on. Right now, I'm more interested to see this Saga guy in person and have a little spar with him" Maya looks at Kai in complete shock, she thought these pirates might change their mind about finding Shichiseiken after telling them the story, but clearly it only made them want to acquire the weapon more.

"I told you! that sword is cursed--" With a hand gesture, Kai stopped her mid-sentence.

With a serious tone of voice Kai demanded "I understand that, now tell me where to find this dojo"

"Come on woman, we don't have all day!" Kid yelled impatiently. His intense gaze made her more frightened than she already was.

"Keep treating women like that and you'll stay single for the rest of your life" Kai said. His brother only snorted in response, as he wasn't interested in engaging in that kind of conversation.

Intimidated, Maya nodded her head and told them the way to the dojo and as the crew left, she started helping the injured villagers and tending their wounds, the rest of the women and elderly got out of hiding and started helping as well.

"…"

Kai and the others made their way to the dojo.

"Hey, what are you planning to do?" Bonney asked her captain in curiosity "Are we still gonna take the sword? I'm gonna be honest with you, I don't want to end up being controlled by a stupid sword"

"I sure as hell don't intend on sealing it or whatever, it might turn out to be a nice weapon for me to use or for one of you if you can resist it's influence" Kai admitted, making his plans clear. Kid was intrigued by it even though he doesn't fancy swords, and Krieg's eyes glinted in mischief when he heard that as well. He is someone who wouldn't want to miss the opportunity of adding a new powerful weapon to his arsenal, but the question that remains, can they tame it?

It only took a few minutes for the crew to arrive to the dojo since it was near the village. The place was quite big, it was surrounded by large red walls protecting it from all sides with one big iron gate guarded by two marine soldiers serving as the only entrance.

Without wasting their time, they took care of the guards and went inside.

"This place is quite big, there should be at least a few dozen marines present here" Gin remarked while scanning the place, when they arrived at the dojo's entrance the doors were opened, and they were greeted by a massive room.

"--Ha!"

"--Ha!"

"--Ha!" Inside, there were dozens of marines with swords training in sync. Across the room stood a tall man with tanned skin and long white hair that he wears loosely. He wears a red robe and with a white armband on his left arm. He also wears red shoes.

The man seems to notice the crew's presence, and with a simple hand gesture all the marines stopped their training and moved to the side, clearing the path for what it seems to be their master.

With confidence he approached the twins before addressing them "I received a word about the arrival of some pirates, but I didn't expect them to be the super rookies that everyone has been talking about" Saga said, holding wanted posters.

"I assume that you're the guy called Saga?" Kai calmly questioned. His eyes quickly caught the long sword he was carrying in his back "Nice weapon you got there"

"I don't believe you are here to have a chat with me 'Red Demon' Eustass Kai and Eustass 'Captain' Kid…"

Kai stepped forward and declared with a grin "You're right, I'm here to fight!"

Saga gazed at him "I find it hard to believe that a young person like you have a 156 million bounty on your head"

"I'll show you then" Kai responded while gesturing with his finger for Saga to come at him.

"Hmph…You're ready?"

"This guy is getting on my nerves, make sure to give him a good beating!" Kid exclaimed from the back.

"His wife did say he's being controlled by the sword, so maybe he's actually a nice guy" Bonney mentioned.

FWOOOSH!! With a swift move, Saga drew the sword on his back using his left hand. His right arm appears to be paralyzed.

The sword is designed after a Shuangshou Jian, a two handed double edged sword and the bigger cousin of the Jian, with an eight-petaled design guard and a somewhat elaborate hilt and a red tassel at the end. The blade itself is emerald green, with a wavy design and seven glowing points spread evenly across it.

The moment Saga drew the sword, it began glowing green.

"So that's Shichiseiken…It certainly look cool" Kai admired the sword's appearance.

"You have no idea what this sword can do. Can you hear its voice?" Saga said with a sinister look on his eyes, before he cracked a wicked grin "Hahahaha…It craves your blood!" With that statement he charged at Kai, delivering a series of fast slashes and thrusts that the red hair pirate managed to dodge with ease using his Observation Haki.

Even though he can take those attacks head on without a worry since his body is Logia, but Kai always prefers to use Haki whenever he gets the chance to improved it even if by a little. Another reason is to train his subconscious to dodge attacks because in the New World he will meet a lot of people who can use Haki.

FWOOOSH!! FWOOOOSH!! Kai kept effortlessly dodging Saga's attack. If it was someone without Observation Haki, he will definitely struggle against them, not only the speed of the attacks is very fast, but it also carries incredible power behind it, as a single strike from Saga's sword was enough to shatter the floor.

"Do you only know how to run?" Saga looked quite calm even when he wasn't able to land a single strike so far.

SWOOOSH!! Hearing that, Kai clenched his fists and used Soru to move at an extremely fast speed, closing the distance between him and his opponent in the blink of an eye, appearing beside him and throwing a strong right punch into his stomach which caused him to fly back and crashing into a wall.

BAAAAM!!

"--Master!!" the marines around the dojo looked in shock, but they still didn't interfere in the fight. Just like every swordsman, Saga lives by the swordsman code and won't allow himself to win in a disgraceful way.

He slowly got on his feet again, shock evident from his facial expression. He did expect Kai to be strong, but not to this point "That display of speed, as I thought…you don't earn that kind of bounty by luck"

"That bastard likes to play around with his prey" Kid said while calmly watching the fight from a distance.

Saga looked serious before he lowered his sword and scraped it at the ground, and the friction created a big green-colored flaming projectile that he launched at Kai.

"Mystic Fire!!"

BOOOOM!!!

Kai swiftly sidestepped, avoiding the attack "Green fire? It doesn't seem to be a devil fruit power…so this is what you meant when you said I don't know what the sword is capable of"

"Hahaha…You'll make for a fine sacrifice, I'll let Shichiseiken drink your blood!"
