Conflicted Braga and His Secret

It was in the middle of the night and the moon was shining brightly over the sea and there was a small ship that was sailing. This was the ship of Alex and his crew who were currently resting. While they were sailing towards Cocoyasi Village, Alex woke up and decided to go out for some fresh air. While he was on the deck looking at the night sky, he heard someone go outside. He looked back and saw Braga who was surprised to see his captain awake.

"Out for some fresh air Braga?" asked Alex as he rarely talked to Braga after they've left Falgus Haven.

"Yeah just thinking about some things." said Braga as he was conflicted about something. Alex noticed this but didn't comment about it as he said "Alright." then went back to looking at the night sky.

Braga, who couldn't sleep anymore, decided to sit on the edge of the ship as he and his captain enjoyed the sound of the sea.

"I enjoy this you know." said Alex

"Enjoy what exactly Captain?" asked Braga

"The sound of the sea and wind in perfect harmony as they form the sound of peace. It makes me feel free and like I'm being carried wherever it wants to take me. But if the sea and the wind are not on the same page, then it creates chaos like storms or whirlpools which could hurt sailors and other adventurers like us. So Braga I want us to be on the same page, so that I can help you and you can help me. I won't force you to tell it to me now, but whenever you feel like you're ready to tell us, you can tell us. We're your family and we will try our best to understand where you are coming from." said Alex as he stood up and went inside the ship to rest leaving Braga outside while thinking 'Family...'

The next morning while they were eating breakfast, Alex saw Braga who was thinking and was satisfied because Braga was one step closer to opening his heart to them and truly becoming a part of the crew. While he was thinking Braga suddenly stood up and said "Guys I have something to say to you today. Braga is not my full name. It's actually Braga Guerrero. I'm from the Guerrero clan that are famous for our martial art techniques. But my family and I were banished from the clan while my father was executed because my uncle framed my father for teaching family techniques to seize the status of heir from my father. But father was prepared for it since he already noticed my uncle colluding with the elders of the family. So he took copies of all of our techniques even the forbidden ones and he gave them to me and..." Braga stopped for a second as he was tearing up. Alex and the crew were surprised since this is the first time that they saw Braga cry.

Then, after a few seconds Braga continued "...and he told me with a smile on his face 'Braga, protect the family in my place okay?' then he went to the main house and was executed. My grandfather, the current head of the clan, couldn't stop the execution because he wasn't present at the time as he was in seclusion at that time. So he was surprised and depressed as his son died but didn't show it. When he was presented with the evidence, he couldn't believe it because his son would never do this and thought that there must have been foul play involved. So when he heard that, he just resigned from being the clan head as he couldn't lead a clan that was deteriorating due to corruption. So our whole family was banished. Then when we were finally outside the clan, we were attacked by our own clanmates as my whole family was killed right in front of my eyes. My mother just hid me behind a tree so that they wouldn't find me and when the screaming stopped, I found my family members all bloodied and mangled as some even had missing limbs. Even the children and babies weren't spared. But after that, I decided to sail with some friends, that I made while I was travelling. We were like a family and I started to feel like it was my second home after what happened to my previous one. But then Don Papito killed them because he wanted to test some of his guns when we were captured because our ship was attacked. He even laughed in satisfaction because he said that the guns were working fine. So I made it my goal to kill all the elders of my clan and cleanse the Guerrero clan and kill Don Papito." concluded Braga as the crew had shocked faces because of Braga's sad and tragic past.

They were all silent but then Fraulein asked, "Braga if you have all of you clan's techniques, why do you only use your clan's leg techniques?" Braga just said, "I made a promise to myself to only use my hands and arms for anything but combat."

They all went silent for a few moments then Alex spoke up "Braga, thank you for telling us this. We promise you, as your crewmates, that we will do everything to help you to take back your clan." the crew nodded, and Braga was happy and said, "Thank you everyone!"

After the Braga episode, the crew continued to sail towards Conomi Islands and met with some Marines. The Marines this time let them be because they didn't have a pirate flag and thought they were just a fishing vessel.

After sailing for a few more days, they finally reached Conomi Islands and docked at Cocoyasi Village.
