6 Finishing the quest

31st. December, 1507

Mt. Colubo, on Dawn Island

It's been almost 4 months since the incident with Ace but sadly it wasn't the only incident that happened. Ace went into town a few more times after that, always saying that he wants to go alone. Unsurprisingly he leashed out quite often and got into quite a few fights.

Dadan scolded him, but that big softie just couldn't confess that she was worried about him so she spouted shit like she too will get in trouble if he beats people up.

Later grandpa visited and went to talk with Ace. I think it was the scene when Ace asked him wether it was good that he was born but I can't say for sure since I left them alone. Though on that night when I was out after dinner, Ace came to talk with me on his own.

Flashback:

„Jackson, can I ask you something?"

„Sure go ahead and ask."

„Say Jackson, aren't you the least bit bothered by it?"

„Bothered by what?"

„Everything… I have asked a few people about our father you know?"

Yes I know but I can't say that now

„And? What did they say?"

„That it would have been better if he never existed… it was the same no matter whom or how many I asked. And it was the same answer when I asked about his sons. Aren't you bothered by the fact that people think it would have been better if we didn't exist?"

„Not in the slightest."

A short, fast and resolute answer that seemed to have caught Ace of guard.

„How…Why…"

He muttered. *sight*

„Why would I care about what they think would have been better? They don't know us and We don't know them. What I do know is that we were born and that our mother willingly risked and lost her life for us but still was happy to hold us for a few moments even while in death's hands. As for father… our old man's business is our old man's business, he lived his life free and however he wanted not giving any fuck about others opinion about him. So why would he care now when he is dead? SO why should WE care about it then?"

After a while Ace asked me if I think that it's good that we have been born and I told him

„If we live a life that we deem to be good and happy, then yes it was good that we were born."

By the way on a offnote the people in this world don't celebrate new year. Tomorrow is Ace's and mine 6th birthday and I can't sleep because I keep thinking about my huge power up. Honestly no matter how often I tried to relax and fall asleep I keep thinking about it. Just imagine 5% of my fathers power! And once I finish the quest I'll get additional 5%! Oh I can't wait, damn it! Ok let's just check my cheat real quick. And as always the moment I though about my cheat, the lightscreen appeared again.

Huh? Synchronization reached 5%? Waiting for blessed person's order? Could said person be me? Ahh! Of course, it must be past midnight so technically it's the 1st January, 1508 now, in other words my birthday! Wait does that perhaps mean that I can finish my quest now before the others wake up?!

Ok it's decided I'll go and try it out! So after putting on my blindfold I went outside to do my daily training. What about Ace? Honestly since the beginning of December I didn't need his help anymore. I suspect that my observation Haki was unlocked but I can't say for sure since I don't know how observation haki is supposed to feel. Still I am almost certain that it's observation haki!

It's a new sense that I didn't have before so I was a bit overwhelmed at first. It always looked easy in the fan fictions that I read but in reality information was being transmitted into my brain and I had no idea from which part of my body that information came from. I just suddenly knew what is around me. I'd say 5-6 meters around me for starters but still. I used the last month to get used to that feeling and learn to react accordingly to the information that I sensed with haki and as a result I learned to use observation haki.

Ca. 25 minutes later I finished the task. How do I know that it's been 10 km? Well the lightscreen suddenly appeared before me, which by the way I somehow was able to see even when blindfolded, and stated that the quest was finished!

I shouted excitedly unwilling to wait a second longer than I have to! And instantly after I gave the order I begun to feel an extreme pain attacking me! It Feld like a huge invisible hand tore open my body and stuffed something the size of grandpa's warship inside me! Degenerates BEGONE! After it was finished my mind started to adjust to my new strength on its own as if I always had it. I also suddenly 'remember' attacking, defending and evasion techniques I never learned or practiced but they were clearly engraved into my body!

Holy shit I still can't realize that I absorbed 10% of Roger's overall battlepower!

Never mind that slightly painful process, this is so worth it. Ok calm calm let's first organize what I vaunted.

…hmm sadly nothing regarding haki for now but holy shit my physical strength is over the top. I also seem to have grown taller but I don't know how much. Hopefully not so much that it's obvious since that would be hard to explain.

Like that I spend the rest of the night outside doing all sorts of things like jumping around taking revenge on the trees by punching them away and killing a smal pack of… I don't know what they are but they attacked me first.
