Laffitte P.O.V.]
Robert and I just left the island and are on our way to Mary Geoise. Robert is using his portal to get us there, and I'm showing him the way. We're going from portal to portal high in the sky.
"Say, Laffitte, aren't you getting tired of Captain sometimes?"
"What do you mean?"
"He is constantly sending us on a mission and giving us things to do. It's so tiring."
"I won't deny that It's getting boring, but aren't we just trying to pay back Captain for everything he has done for us. He saved you from your life stealing every day and taught you how to fight, how to use your Devil Fruit; he gave you access to more money than you know what to do with. But most importantly, he gave you a place to belong. A place to call home."
"Sigh, you got me there. I didn't expect you to say something like that. Has he done the same for you?"
"He is the first person to look at me as a human."
"Huh, what do you mean?"
"It's a long story."
"We have time."
"Alright, then. Captain might not have told you this, but I was a Sherrif before I joined the crew. I protected a useless town better than anyone ever could. Still, the citizen looked at me like I was some monster."
"No disrespect, but isn't that kinda your fault? Even now, I get scared of you sometimes when I see how you deal with our enemies."
"One of their excuses indeed was that I was too cruel, but that was just so they could try and throw me off my position. The real reason they called me a monster was because of how I looked and what I liked. Because I'm so pale, they called me a ghost, and because I liked reading 'creepy' and 'weird' stories, they found me creepy."
"Wait, I can kinda understand if kids were scared of you, but adults should know better."
"Well, they knew better, and that was why they were scared of me even more than the children. 20 years ago, when I was 17, I had a twin. We were almost completely the same. We basically looked the same and liked the same things. But my twin liked one thing that I didn't. Torture."

Robert got so surprised that he lost control, and we started falling out of the sky.

"Geppo!"
"I'm sorry, Laffitte, I got a little surprised there. I didn't know you had a twin, and I wasn't expecting you to say that you didn't like torture."
He created a portal again, and we got back on our way.
"This is something that I haven't even told Captain."
"Wow, really? I thought you told him everything. I kinda feel special now. But what happened next?"
"20 years ago, my twin sister massacred the entire town where our parents and we lived. She massacred them in the most gruesome way possible. Even I can't do what she did back then."
Robert looked shocked but stayed quiet.
"When my parents found out what she had done, they threw me out of the house immediately. They said that I would one day do the same because the two of us are completely identical. It was 4 am when they threw me out, and I could see marines picking up bodies after bodies. But the thing that I could never forget from that day are the eyes that looked at me like I was a monster. My parents and the marines had completely the same eyes."
I took a deep breath.
"After that day, I sneaked out of the island and found a place where I could work and live. The people there knew about my sister, but they couldn't say anything because I worked under the Sherrif who also didn't like me, but he found me useful. A month later, I read in the newspaper that the marines had killed my sister. That was the first time in my life that I had actually cried. I heard that neither of us even cried when we were born. After that day, I let all of my frustration out on the criminals in town and started developing my tendencies to torture people."
I looked at Robert, who was silently crying.
"Why are you crying?"
He quickly wiped his tears away and suddenly hugged me. I was so shocked that I didn't know what to do.
"I'm so sorry to hear this! I shouldn't have asked. You had a tough life, and you have been treated as an outcast for your entire life. I couldn't imagine what I would do if I was in your position."
I suddenly felt something that I have only felt once before. The day that Captain called me family.
(An: Don't make it gay.)
He let me go.
"Don't worry about it. I've come to terms with it a long time ago. And since I've joined Captain, I completely forgot about my past."
"Sigh, that's good. But it seems like almost everyone on our crew has a bad past. Captain is recruiting all the misfits in the world." said Robert
"That's why everyone respects Captain so much. He doesn't care about our past. He never looked at me weird no matter what I did or said."
"You know, Laffitte, I didn't know that you actually had emotions. You always looked like a lifeless sadistic bastard to me."
I grabbed a knife from my pocket.
"Eh, Laffitte, why are you aiming that at me?"
I smiled.
"What did you call me just now?"
"I was just joking! Please don't take it seriously!"
"Kekekeke."
"AAAAHHHH!!!"
[1 day later]
We went past Mary Geoise and rented a hotel in Sabaody Archipelago.
"It's 7 pm right now. You've worked hard, so get some rest. I'll wake you up at 3 am. That's when we go."
Robert nodded.
[8 hours later]
Robert and I are entirely covered in a black outfit. We started going towards Mary Geoise.
'Last time I came here, I copied a map of Mary Geoise, and I noted down where all the significant figures live. So we can immediately go to Jalmack's house without needing to go through the entire castle to find him.'
We arrived at Mary Geoise and easily passed through the security at the Domain of the Gods with Robert's Devil Fruit. The Domain of the Gods is the town where the slaves and World Nobles reside. We quickly located Jalmack's house, which was massive and heavily guarded. Usually, there would be one guard max.
"Robert, his room is that one. Go in and inject him with that paralyzing drug, so he doesn't wake up till we get to Captain. Make sure to be as quiet as possible." I whispered to Robert
He nodded and disappeared into the shadows. A couple of moments later, he appeared next to me again and nodded. He then used his portal to bring us out of Mary Geoise, and we immediately headed back to Captain and the rest.
When we were far enough away, we could finally let out our breaths.
"Damn, that was scary. I thought that he definitely would have woken up when I put that needle in his arm."
"Deuce coated the needle with that drug so he wouldn't even feel anything."
"I see. Deuce thinks of everything."
"Before we go too far away, show him to me so that we won't make a fool of ourselves when we show Captain the wrong person."
He nodded and pulled out Jalmack from his shadows. I looked at him closely and confirmed that it was him.
"It's him, but why is he wearing underwear with hearts on them?"
"That's something everyone who is full of themselves wears." said Robert
"Really? Does that mean that Captain also wears that kind of underwear?"
"Wow, I didn't expect you to take a jab at Captain."
"Hahaha, I was just kidding. I've been through all of his clothes, so I know what he wears."
Robert suddenly let go of me and started using his portals to run away.
"GET AWAY FROM ME, YOU CREEP!"
"Wait, come back! I was just kidding!"
