9 Chapter 9- Songoku

a battleship with the ship's crow shaped like a dog house and the figurehead shaped like a dog head, which has a bone in its mouth sailing on the vast sea.

"Marine ranking goes like this. seaman recruit is the lowest of the lowest in the marines, it has three grades consisting of 'seaman recruit' being the lowest and 'seaman first class' being the highest. the next rank also has three grades. Petty chief is the lowest and master petty chief being the highest." a muscular man explained with utmost precision.

"The next rank is a warrant officer. this rank doesn't have any grades. The next rank has three grades too, lieutenant junior grade being the lowest and lieutenant being the highest"

The muscular man stopped and looked straight into the eye of a black-haired boy who looked interested.

"All ranks present from "Lieutenant" or above are usually trained in the marine headquarter, except those in command of other Marine bases. The next rank has also three grades consisting of 'Lieutenant commander' being the lowest and 'captain' being the highest. The next Rank also has three grades, with commodore being the lowest and vice admiral being the highest. The last rank is Fleet admiral, which is the top of the marine." The muscular man continued.

"What rank is the old man?" The black-haired boy asked In a calm voice.

"He is a Vice admiral. Upon first entering the Marines, recruits are given the standard uniform, consisting of a white, short-sleeved shirt emblazoned with the Marine emblem; a simplified gull with the word "MARINE" underneath it, on the back; a blue neckerchief; dark blue trousers; and a baseball cap also with the word "MARINE" across the front. All officers at the rank of seaman and below wear this.

Once one reached the rank of petty officer, he or she can choose from several different uniforms, including his or her clothes. Only those who want to appear "sailor-like" will stay with a more traditional uniform."

The muscular man finished his explanation, with a grin on his face. The black-haired boy also laughed lightly before his face turned serious and started firing all sorts of questions.

"How do I advance to another rank or grade?"

"You have a connection to Garp so you are to skip the Seaman ranks and Immediately get promoted to petty chief. The more Pirate you have executed and imprisoned the faster you get promoted. When you get promoted you'll get contracted by your superiors mainly Garp. Also, make sure people remember you as a man of justice if not you'll have less chance of advancing to another rank."

"Do I have to follow someone of a higher Rank?"

"You can, but you don't have to. Lower ranked marines will Immediately act with utmost respect once they see your uniform even if you are just 13 years old." The muscular man explained with a sigh.

"When can I have my ship?"

"You'll have to be at least a lieutenant commander or higher"

...

-Yale's POV-

...

After thanking James, (the Muscular man), I commenced searching for Garp.

It's been a while since I left my hometown. Surprisingly, My parents complied with my request to become a marine. Baki was slightly disappointed since he wanted me to be a pirate.

Haku was resistant to the idea at first, but when she met Garp everything went smoothly.

The ship which I'm on right now has about 100 Marines, some of them can even use Haki. I'm still on my guard, even though they are respectful people, but still most if not all of them have blood on their hands.

scanning the ship with my Observation Haki, I Instantly sensed Garp, in the kitchen, suddenly before I could even take a step from my position, I sensed Garp coming towards me at high speed.

Moments later Garp was In front of me.

"Prepared to go! We have arrived at The marine HQ."

"But aren't only Marines above the rank lieutenant here?"

"Yeah, but I wanna introduce someone to you!!"

"Who and Why"

"Just do it! if you want the rank- Lieutenant- I know you're stronger enough!" Garp's voice beamed. I was a little frightened.

"How strong am I anyway?"

Yale thought curiously. With his Swordsmanship being Lv 14 he should be able to fight Marines of Rank -Petty Chief Master- but with his overall strength he should be a little bit weaker than a lieutenant meaning his strength is about Rank -Junior Lieutenant Grade-.

Smoker was about the rank -Lieutenant Commander- in the league town when he defeated Luffy before he got promoted to the rank -of commodore- due to the events in alabaster.

"But I don't think I can defeat smoker, I could only escape with my current skills."

Yale thought while they walked towards the Marine headquarters, he appreciate the sight of the Marine Ford.

The Marineford Headquarters was a large, fortress-like building that bore a sign containing the kanji for "Marines" and the Marines' symbol between them, and on top of this structure is a large, multi-story tower styled after an ancient Japanese pagoda. There are mountains at each corner of the structure each has a small building on top carrying the Marine flag.

In front of the Headquarters was Marineford Town, where families of Marines stationed at Headquarters lived, and the Oris Plaza which contains an execution scaffold. The island itself is shaped like a crescent,

While Yale was wondering what he should do after learning some technique's from the marine, Garp was laughing while he signaled Yale to follow him.

Yale made sure to memories the way they came from, For if he somehow gets attacked he could have a little more chance of escape.

About ten more minutes later, When Garp opened an office door. Someone who Yale remembers as Songoku was seen

Songoku is a tall, fair-skinned, and muscular man with a long, braided goatee and a mustache.
